Your left hand needs a lot of work, since the original music is loud enough to hide some mistakes (there are many on your cover). The right hand needs more speed too.
About floating thumb, it's very helpful when it's well done, when you play with your whole arm in straight. Your wrist is not right and therefore, you'll find yourself very tired and/or with pain after some time playing.
I can only tell you to Look for floating thumb technique here on youtube.. It's actually less painful and more comfortable to play like that... Even thought, when i recorded this video i was not really aware of that technique.. Thanks for your comment man...
i agree, the floating thumb is a more comfortable and less painful technique to play with, but it does cause massive amount of shifting which screws people over slowly, but its much more comfortable and does not cause pinch nerves
@thepapax I don't know about floating thumb technique giving you tendinitis or anything i'm not a doctor..but it is good to rest your thumb on your pick up you will have better control, evenness in your finger style,and it also helps with accuracy and speed...you can hear it affecting your playing,I'm just trying to help I've been playing for 21 years

I'm not positive but I think he used finger, cuz generally finger picking has a distinct sound. And just so ya know Digiorgio did bass for Human and Individual Thought Patterns, so The Philosopher is a good song for his bass stylings too. And try some of his stuff off of Quo Vadis' album Defiant Imagination. He does some pretty crazy shit on songs like Silence Calle The Storm. Keep up the bassing man (I play as well in a melo death band called evoking desolation, we just got a full lineup)

It's a Vintage Jazz Bass style, but YAMAHA not Fender... although it is every bit as good as a Fender... was sold only in Japan...
