Hope you have received my email. I am halfway learning to play the song. Your modified tab really helped. I am not very sure as to what the changes are. Are you telling about the chords in the song.? Here you show us the first line, you play the chords G, C, D7, G but on the song the first line is only G, C, G.. Anyway it is not a big deal. I think I will know the change once you make a video of it. Thank you very much for all your help. I am slowly getting there. God Bless!
The music sheet that I sent to you was written by a friend. And yes, you are right that it shows G, C, G in the 1st line. Most of the music tab you'll find online shows G, C, G. The reason I play G, C, D7 G is because when I was studying this song before I recorded the tutorial, I listened to John Denver's recording on the CD, "An Evening with JD" (the re-released CD) In this recording it is very apparent that he plays G, C, D7, G in the 1st line. Either way is ok.
Thanks for the reply and clarification. Actually the chords you play on the first line, G,C,D7.G sounds much better though with very little difference. I will be waiting for the video with the changes. Once again thank you very much for everything. God Bless you and your family.
Hi.. i am a grat John Denver fan..this is realy great...thank you very much for your video... i wish i d see ALL the guitar play from the beginning till the end.. so i can figure out exactly how it s works.. have u made a video of it?.. thanks again..
You're so welcome! No, I haven't made a video of the whole song yet, but I have plans to. I have many youtube songs and instructional videos to do. I'll try to make this video very soon. I'll send it to you when I get it posted.
I am trying to learn to play this song and I have problem with the picking pattern at 2.14 on Am. I am able to get the chords right but having problems with the picking pattern. Is it 4 &1 the same time and than 2 3 2 (where you have the pinkie on the 8th fret.) so far I am good and I have problem after that as my 4 3 2 does not sound right. Do you pick any other string.? Please let me know. Thanks again for your time. God Bless you and your family. Vathumuttai
First of all, I am working on the video I mentioned to you last week. For clarification I will include this section . In the meantime, maybe this will help. Yes you are correct. It's 4 & 1 at the same time, On the second (2) in the 2 3 2 < this one) sequence, place your pinky on the second string, 8th fret. Then after plucking that string, remove your pinky from that string . You want that second string open in the 4 3 2 < (this one)seqence. No, I don't pick any other strings.
Thank you so much George for taking the time to reply. I will try to work on that sequence. I will be eagerly waiting for the other video you are working on. Once again thank you so much and God Bless.!
You are quite welcome. I'm glad you found this helpful. I will say that since recording this video, I have discovered that John played the little break in between the verses differently than what I've shown here. It's not a big deal, but when I have a chance I'll record a quick video showing the change.
Sir, Thank you very much for posting this video. I always wanted to learn this song and the picking pattern. God Bless you and your family for sharing your talent . I have taken notes and I will start learning and when I am done learning this song, I will email you again. Thanks a bunch once again.
Thank you so much. You are so kind. As I mentioned in the reply above, I will record another video soon, showing a change in this song that I missed before. John plays the break in between the verses differently than what I show here. God bless you and your family as well.
Hi there! Thanks. I really love my Crafter SM Rose! When I first laid eyes on it I fell in love. Then when I played it I was even more amazed by the sound. The action is really nice even before I had a set-up done. The price is about 1/4 that of the best Martin guitar and I think sounds better! Thanks for asking.
Thank you for this - this song takes me straight back to my childhood. My father was a huge John Denver fan here in the UK and I remember his BBC show from 1973 very well - I was 9 years old at the time. I heard this song on BBC radio about 5 years ago and it moved me to tears - it reminded me of my late father who loved JD so much - and of happier times for me too. C x
can you send me the tab. my email is rjacksonsr@mail.com

Thanks for that George, I think this is agreat JD song, a really catchy tune, but as you have shown, it is a bit more involved to play properly.
Cheers

Thanks Alan! Yeah, for some it may be a bit involved, but with experience and practice it will come.
