In many third world countries political candidates have been assassinated, jailed and tortured. Leaders weren't assassinated, because they have exercised more caution (guards) and have taken preemptive actions to suppress their opposition. For example, in Russia there is no viable political opposition to the ruling party, simply because it's too dangerous.

Don't get me wrong, I disagree with Philips, but I do hate hosts/“reporters” who won't allow their guest to form a complete sentence. I've interviewed with too many reporters like this to feel any regard for Matthews in this exchange. This is exactly what FOX does: humiliate or marginalize individuals with differing political opinions. Besides, the best way to make this man sound like an idiot is simply to allow him to speak. He'll take care of that all on his own.

Although I agree that Judson Phillips is ignorant, I think it's a bit unfair to categorize US as the most dangerous country for politicians. In many third world countries political candidates have been assassinated, jailed and tortured. Leaders weren't assassinated, because they have exercised more caution (guards) and have taken preemptive actions to suppress their opposition. For example, in Russia there is no viable political opposition to the ruling party, simply because it's too dangerous.
