@Spaeckli yepper, but I would consider the new Cactus V5's due out very shortly...search Cactus V5 on motleypixel...I have a very good review of them there.
@incubusian sorry I don't, but I still stand by these over the older triggers (V2s) I reviewed...these are well worth the money. I would figure out the trigger voltage and find a seller on ebay and simply ask them.
I love mine. the only thing is that. WIth my D90 and SB600 it will go into sleep mode in about 30secs so you have to just make sure you pop one off. but for price they are great right now. I might up grade to Radio Poppers and Pocket wiz are just so out of range right now. even though Skyports might be as well.
here's some things that u need to straighten up on.
1. this video is informative.
yup. it is along the same lines of educational for people of similar purchase interest.
2. if u are looking for stand-up comedies... obviously, you got to be very stupid to go to an equipment review video and expect some laughs... when the purpose of it is to inform and share one's user experience.
like i say, use that thing between your eyes to analyse!
I just got 2 receivers and a transmitter back......for professional use , somewhat limited I feel.....very short distance with new batteries, and on of the receivers arrived inoperative......I will keep it for emergency backup only.
I know the 285HV for sure...remember it just has a center contact to apply trigger voltage to fire the flash. I would recommend emailing the seller for more information.
There's a very very good chance it will but I won't state it for fact. These are just triggers on the receiver there's simply a hot shoe with a center contact that delivers "trigger voltage" to manually fire "pop" the flash.
No, in fact, now that I've had these for awhile I would say about 5% of the time at 1/250th I catch a shutter curtain and maybe 1% of the time at 1/200th. They are still very nice units compared to the Cactus older ones that I reviewed.
I have a 5D and was going to purchase this but thanks to your comment about signal issues, I'll stay away. Do you have an opinion as to which trigger I should get? Thanks for the info, everything has been incredibly informative.
while my flash is in the transmitter and i do a testpress on the sender, the little red light on the reciever blinks, but the flash just wont go off... i know that my flash and the eciever works, as when i put the pc cable in(CTR-301P) an pull it out, the flash will trigger.. i am very confused right now-.-
Don'T Waste money, CACTUS Wireless Flash Trigger V2s u cant get the SYNC speed needed to do anything creative. Box says 1000/ but canon only 200 fail!
wtf
Ts = shutter speed
Tf = flash speed
Tr = transmission time from V2 transmitter to receiver
Tfv2 = responding time of the flash after V2 is in use
Can you please post how you change your battery from the trasmitter? I think there's where the cactus makes the change, it uses screw's, you can do it over and over again. I never bought these, and I'm willing to, but if it not uses screws then I'l have to look to another one.
Tested it against a set of Pocket Wizards, and found that whether the transmitter was attached to the hot shoe, or by a 6' sync cable held away from the camera, the $30 ebay slaves always screwed up the top 100 pixels.
Pocket wizards did not.
I learned my lesson.
It's easy to throw away 30 bucks, but I'd pay $200 right now, if I didn't need to crop out all my relatives shoulders from a super rare portrait opportunity.
What model body were you using? Both the 5D and 5D MkII have confirmed signal/noise issues with these triggers. So I'd sway from using these on the 5D's unless you can easily test before you buy.
How long have you been using this? Still positive oppinion ... i want to buy a wireless trigger but still dunno where and i dont want to spend a fortune on them
I've been using them for about 3 months now. Two client engagements and so far they haven't failed me, as in they haven't "pissed me off" like the Cactus V2s's did.
I also noticed the same thing with the light stand threads, it's really tight on a light stand, but when I try the receivers on a tripod hotshoe, it's perfect...
Nice review. i got the cactus like 2 weeks ago. and still waiting for the hot shoe to begin testting with my canon 580EX. i was worried after what u said that cactus might have probs with canon :S.. anyway this is my 1st wireless flash. i'll only count it as an experience . maybe someday i'll put my hands on pocket wirzard. anyway thanks for the video Roy :)

@kevinwong530 I think your safe for the Vivitar 265 and sb-16, not sure about the YN462, but if it had a center trigger voltage pin then probably so.

@kevinwong530 Nope...but you will probably have to change at least one battery out with a fresh new one.

@kevinwong530 when I bought them over a year ago off ebay from a Hong Kong dealer there were $45 shipped to Texas.

Tfv2 = Tf - Tr, Therefore, Tr = 1/500s Tfv2 = Tf - Tr = 1/500s Therefore Ts = 2 x Tfv2 = 1/125s only.
So don't waste your money, buy the pocket wizard
