Something is up with this dude. I've seen every Van Halen tour since I was 3('84 tour, yeah I had those kind of parents...haha) I have to say he peaked on the F.U.C.K tour. He was still great on the Balance tour. He was alright on the 3 tour. He blew donkey balls in the '04 reunion and well, lets just say the '07/'08 show was the only time I have ever left a Van Halen show early and wanting my money back.

It's called "Fanning" It's another way of alternate picking just very fast and requires a certain amount of tension in the wrist of the picking hand. Looks like he's having problems with it...
