  • if day ever come where mankind sends its first FTL ship to the stars, this tune should be played.

  • and this, son, is how transformers is made

  • obozavao sam ovaj crtac ko klinac

  • piece of **** macross rip off

whoever made this should not be allowed to reproduce

  • Jehan Argama? Ahmed Argama?

Clearly the AEUG helped make Robotech.

  • @DracoStarcloud: Agrama, not Argama. But duly noted, and LOL-worthy!

  • So it was Macek's idea that SDF-1 Macross crashed on earth, Max and Miriya got married, the zentraedi destroyed almost all life on earth. I didn't know that.

  • Robotech 4 ever!

  • Robotech is both a blessing and a curse to me. To its benefit, it introduced me to Macross and the wonders of anime in back then. Now they're the same people holding Macross back from the rest of the world.

  • epic

  • this was like the greatest cartoon ever when i was little

  • classic still gives me chills watching the opening

  • Ah memories. It was this and porridge before coming to school.

    Beautiful.

    Was I brainwashed?

  • +1 if you think modern cartoons SUCK and have CRAPPY THEME SONGS!

  • Original Macross is better than Robotech. Whole Macros universe (Macross + Macross Plus + Macross 0 + Macross 7 etc) is worse than original Robotech.

Whole Macross universe is equally bad as Robotech + Shadow Chronicles. Macross 0 animation was fantastic, bas aside from Roy Fokker and Valkyries, it does not have mucj common with original series. Too bad HG didn't hire someone equally competent for SC. Story was lame and there were too many continuity errors. They had to finish Sentinels first

  • sunday morning cartoon :)

  • @EuromanMovieReport

    HAHAHAHA.........NOT !!!

  • @jackhammer10101 Sky One showed Robotech back in 1980s..

  • @EuromanMovieReport

my comment was referring to the "way you said it"..."Sunday morning 'cartoon'" is an insult to ROBOTECH...

Because it is a Legendary "ANIME", not "A Cartoon". People who ONLY like the Original Super Dimensional Fortress" Macross, call ROBOTECH a "Macekred Cartoon" !

So if you did not intend on disrespecting ROBOTECH by calling it a "Cartoon", then disregard my comment ;-)

  • macrossをrobotechと換え、ストーリーを改竄、オリジナル音楽無視、あまりにも酷すぎるぞ。

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, the series was BS but we have to admit that this opening is pure genius, much better than the original macross.

  • I don't understand why there are still some fellas keep mixing up the original Macross saga with other Macross canons like Macross Frontier, SDF Macross DYRL? and worse still the unrelated story canon Robotech. Please... check with wikipedia so as to get the facts straight. If u need to check the animes, I recommend u download them via BAKABT website. They have high-quality torrents mostly about these animes. It will help u alot. :Doh yeah, don't forget to seed accordingly too.

  • Let's see Macross.

  • I didn't know there was also series. I just found a movie/cartoon of Robotech on videotape when i watched it when i was young

  • @Freedom3020 Typical respond from roboshit crapboys who have no argument to defend their shithole franchise lol.

  • @JamesBond77 you must have no life. I don't care if people like Macross more. Macross doesn't have the casual real acting. I first saw anime around 1980 by way of HBO and UFO Robot grendizer, then later Battle of the Planets. Robotech music may not be the alternative rock or techno or j-pop you expect on every cookie cutter episode of most anime that is crap these days but Robotech was something us children of the 80's grew up on and the music has that familiarity that we will not forget.

  • Comment removed

  • @JamesBond77 Shut up ok. Nobody cares how small your penis is.

  • The songs in robocrap were so bad that the female singer needed to drink before singing them. Enough said.

  • I loved this series; say what you want about its "bastardization" but the music here is just flat out superior to the original.

  • robocrap is for brainwashed morons.

  • @JamesBond77 you should not even be here. If hate robotech so much you should stay way from robotech vids. You have Obsessive-compulsive disorder robotech hating disorder. why else you go to robotech amv videos with little views and say something trollish.

  • tantos recuerdos de mi niñes muaaaaaaa muaaa...

  • Fav theme song EVER

  • where is the theme for the motorcycles, that 1 is a little better. and when are they gonna start a movie already.

  • Never liked this show back then when I 1st seen it. Mainly due to how spotty the storytelling was. Which seemed to be a common thing with alot of stations. Always showing stuff out of sequence=\

But once I got older and thanks to Macross Plus. I got a better understanding of the series and realized it was thanks to the fucks that ported it over. It wasnt really enjoyable to me

  • Still watch this on DVD...LOVE IT

  • 50 bucks Robotech masterpiece vf-1j rick hunter volume 1 MIB on ebay.

    search item number 130504862558.

  • quiero llorar!!!!!! i wanna cry!!!!!!!

  • OOOOHH OH OH OH OH - I totally used to watch this when I was a child!

  • So what came after the Macross Saga?

  • Comment removed

  • this was like my favourite cartoon as a kid

  • if someone made a new movie and it was 2d ill be like fuck that shit the original is better

  • when did this first come out

  • @guilmongrowlmon along time some where in the 1960's

  • @jhoon234 The original Macross came out in 1984 and the dubbed version Robotech came out in the states in 1987-88.

  • I remember when I used to watch this cartoon on my VHS recorder.

Those were the times. I still have the tape, but It's broken :(

  • I remember watching a few episodes with my dad, I finally caved the other day and got the whole Macross Saga for $30. I cant wait.

  • This was my childhood. And I still love this series.

  • That 70's soundtrack that Macross has is overall not as good as the Robotech soundtrack. there are a few gems though in the Macross soundtrack

The macross sotyline is Über epic though compared to Robotech's

  • Robotech :) or Robotek. Rick Hunter... Rik Hanter :)

  • @BegUltra

    tim Lobanja?

  • @MaestroGloriusus Sta tim Lobanja? Ne shvatam

  • @BegUltra

ma kad sam bio mali imao sam kazetu Robotek, sinkronizirano naravno, i sjećam se samo Rik Hantera i kad neka ženska zove tim Lobanju :)

  • @MaestroGloriusus Aha, znam o cemu pricas :D Imam ja sad sve sinh. epizode Roboteka, i komplet seriju original, posto nije citava sinh. :)

  • I will never here this theme and not be moved. To an 11 year old child, this was the alpha and the omega...

  • Damn, I had a VHS of it somewhere with the cover and everything. Loved this series.

  • What a shame: 32 people had rotten childhoods.

  • Sorry but wth am I missing with Macross and other Japanese versions that was dubbed into Robotech. Robotech Remastered seems to have all deleted scenes. I have watched the Japanese version of Macross and Southern Cross. Now tell me. What have I missed? So far it seems almost the exact same thing. Just a bit more slower and boring. I get sick seeing Robotech rantings such as these. The only thing I've liked of the Macross series so far has been Macross 7. Watching Frontier lately.

  • ... of 3 great anime series, fucking robocrap fuckers. And Carl mcfucker is dead LOL.

  • Roboshit = a waterdown piece

  • Roboturd is for fuckers, fuckers.

  • 25 years after first watch, and Im still have my skin like a chicken listen this song... Macross fans vs. Robotech fans!? I just want to tell something: FUCK ALL OF YOU! enjoy the serie! enjoy with Rick, Roy, Lisa, and their names in the original Macross! we have the chance to see 2 amazing stories of our best serie, and you still fighting each other!? I cant believe it...

Waiting for the live action movie! Tobey, hurry up, PLEASE!!!

  • Youtubers can fight about absolutely anything can't they? Christ the internet has gone to shit. I guess it was always this way its just now its easier to log on so you notice it more.

  • @Sageintraining1 That's the internet for ya ;)

  • Alright Macross fanboys. Which would you prefer? A somewhat altered dub that tries to tie into two unrelated shows, or absolutely nothing at all? Because if we didn't have Robotech, we would literally have nothing at all. No joke: This series was what proved to executives that anime could be well-received in the US, and paved the way for later US anime hits.

So quit yer whining and respect yer elders.

  • FUUUUUUUCK YOU HARMONY GOLD.

You were cool and all back in the mid 80's. But then I discovered the true Macross that was Do You Remember Love. Nowadays you're just cease and desist issuing trolls. I wish you would just disappear off the face of the planet so I can finally get Macross: Do You Remember Love, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross Zero, and Macross Frontier on Blu-Ray WITH English subtitles.

100% original Macross. Accept no substitutes.

  • I never could get into this show but I loved the opening music.

  • Macross/Robotech...

    I Dont care!

Just give me a Live action move to watch!...

  • @ 11macross You read way too far into things that are not even there. How you came up with all that, I have no idea. Good on you, you ole slapper, LOL.

  • 30motherfuckers....

  • You can get this song for your ringtone at Funformobile for free.Robotech was the shit back in the day!I was like 14 run home from school hell yeah!Robotech!

  • Because of the way these clips are edited, every single time I see the part at 1:11 I think "Damn, that's one hell of a rifle", LOL.

  • I have watch these cartoons (manga) in my early years (and of the eighthies) on Superchannel (doens't exchist anymore), butt I'm very pleased to see it back again. And there 3 stories (chapters) I'll stille remember.

  • exelente serie, la vi de chiquito y me sige gustando saludos atodos!!!

  • I always loved this music, but I admit it: Carl Macek was a bastard. Macross Forever.

  • @MaestroTaikun The bastard only one you are your and all the fanatics of macrossgay.

  • @MaestroTaikun

NO ONE should think Carl Macek is what you say, maybe Harmony Gold. You don't know what kind of work went into ROBOTECH..Carl Macek is the music, the story, the acting...He's EVERYTHING...because he took it from Harmony Gold and created EVERYTHING from scratch...you say he is bad, i say he is a GENIUS...

putting 3 sagas together to fit 1 story is ingenius...there are more flaws in Star Wars than there are in ROBOTECH...

  • Comment removed

  • @jackhammer10101

Oh, yeah, because buy three animated series without any real relation between them, do copy-paste and mention nothing about its respectives japanese authors is something only a true genius can do, right?

Well, I must be not surprised, even the swindlers in the history have their followers.

PD: Did I detect a pinch of envy to George Lucas?

  • @MaestroTaikun

Swindler? Do you have evidence that this was Macek's intent? It was made very clear FROM THE BEGINNING that the American Robotech series was created from Japanese shows. It was right there in black & white in the 1985 release of the Robotech RPG from Palladium Books. It was mentioned in the art books released by Starblaze. Hell, even the pre-TV series Revell Robotech kits had the Tatsunoko Productions Big West/Macross Project copyright marks on the packaging.

  • @MikeTaylorLives people are jerks. Macross didn't even suffer in the translation. It was the cutting edge of translating and dubbing due to how close it followed. Now that other show with the bikes and everything, that got completely altered. People talk like if macross was the one that suffered instead of the other show no one even cares about today, genesis climber mospeada.

  • @GadGades your are about not one care able genesis climber mospeada. It only remember by robotech fans because it big part of 3rd part and squeals and comics.

  • @jackhammer10101 I agree.

  • @jackhammer10101

from scratch? I'll give him the music and the editing, but the ingredients were already made. way to go with the hyperbole there.

  • @lalamango1

from scratch means the bravado to reinvent protoculture, a whole new meaning it is... and to add Admiral Hunter to the saga....it really is from scratch...

you cannot park in a time limit curb that is green that is next to a red curb and get a ticket for BOTH..

either you get a red curb ticket OR an over the time limit ticket.....

meaning, either you blame Macek for going off the deep end into Carland or you blame him for being safe and unoriginal....

    The haters are blaming him

  • @lalamango1

The haters are blaming him for going over the deep end a recreating what should not be changed...for adding pieces of story where it should not be...

Come on...Dana being Max and Miriya's daughter....Monument City being on Earth....there are more differences with Reflex Point storywise than there is in the whole Macross...

The WHOLE ROBOTECH story is different in almost EVERY way....IT IS from scratch

  • @jackhammer10101 Except that no one really heard or cared about Macross during the time it actually was running in the west. Most of the complaining about purity was done in hindsight: it was Macek who popularized anime through robotech and streamline pictures releases. Unless you were one of the few tape traders in a pre-internet world, anime was simply not on the map for most people, and the only ones who brought it over often did far worse jobs than Macek: look up Tranzor Z, for example.

  • @weirdwatch

I think you are reading me wrong... I am a FULL supporter of Carl Macek's ROBOTECH (NOT Harmony Gold...they just said,"are you sure", "really", "ok" during the production, and then they stole it from Macek, legally)...and i believe it is done so well, i compare it to some T.V. scripts...sure there are unusual flaws here and there...but there are some ensemble portrayals that are very deep; my favorite is: The New Generation.

  • @jackhammer10101

So Carl Macek designed all the characters and mecha, wrote the scripts, drew the storyboards and animated everything by himself?

  • @sanjurosama

i know you are being sarcastic, but minus the mecha and animation, YES Carl Macek IS the script, story, creation of the characters motivation and personality. A character is not only a drawing...It's life is breathed in by a director, script, producer, and eventually an actor's finger print. There is NO WAY "Hikaru"(Arihiro Hase) is "RIck"(Tony Oliver)

We need to get past visual versus audio...Super Dimension Fortress to ROBOTECH fans is without audio. If we turn off the volume..

  • @jackhammer10101 Unfortunately, this IS animation....NOT a audio storybook. Shōji Kawamori created a visual art, space romance, power of music, and exposure to culture shock. All macek did was tweak the original SDF-Macross story, which is fine, considering Robotech was meant for children who had no idea what culture was.

HG/Macek had their shot to prove their creativity w/o the aid of an existing Japanese anime when they released "Shadow Chronicles" and they failed miserably!....

  • The remnants of Super Dimension Fortress IS the show without sound...When i watch SDF:Macross without sound, that is the contribution Macross gave to ROBOTECH...Carl Macek did not create Macross without the audio...

...ROBOTECH begins with the audio...It is an audio storybook...In fact, i tell people to close their eyes and "LISTEN" to ROBOTECH..

The audio is Tony Oliver's portrayal of a confused Rick Hunter...i dont know how confused Arihiro Hase sounds. The audio is the way Melanie Mcqueen

  • portrays a strong military woman but a fragile flower with an immense vulnerability when it comes to a personal life...It portrays a gentle Max, where SDF: Macross portrays a Max like Roy Fokker.

The audio storybook reveals how the Protoculture Matrix is the essence of ROBOTECH that runs through the veins of not only the SDF1, but the Invid, creators of Protoculture of which the original ROBOTECH Master Zor, stole and discovered from .

    I "Listen" to ROBOTECH, i don't watch it !!!

  • @MaestroTaikun typical response from a unam frijolero a joke of a nationalized school from a joke of a country maybe you'll learn some science on how to border jump or make a battleoid out of papier mace to fight the cartels which make your country into shit.I'm Proud ROBOTECH fan since 1986' when I first saw it on KABB in TEXAS. RIP Carl Macek who brought us Americans a great adaption with brilliant voice acting, humanistic storylines, lovely music which is dear to our hearts for life.

  • @210mrhaku

Impressive, a well-informed racist about the guy he wants to insult. That's progress!

Hey, everybody, who else thinks it'd be very interesting to know the opinion of the japanese creators of Mospeada and Southern Cross (the other two "sagas" of Robotech)? You know, I just ask myself which is their actual view of Macek, who never gave them credits for their series. Because everybody knows Macek always said Macross was completely his idea. Yeah, RIP, you bastard thief.

  • @210mrhaku

Now I ask you: Have you heard about Nausicaä of Hayao Miyazaki? Well, your stupid idol, Macek, he also was responsible of bowdlerize that awesome movie and he turned it into a piece of shit. I just wanted you to know it, you can be even more proud now.

Well, it's enough for today, I suppose you have to kill some native indians right now.

PD: If in your country don't consume the drugs, we wouldn't have cartels to distribute it to you ;)

  • @210mrhaku Hey racist. go kill yourself. If anybody needs to be deported it is slime like yourself. Macross and Robotech forever.

  • @MaestroTaikun You love this music which is very very Robotech, and composed by Ulpio Minucci and others. You'll not hear this opening title/theme in Macross. In my opinion, Robotech's music/soundtrack (and story) is far more superior to Macross.

  • @seize7days

What is better about dialog that doesn't make any sense or constant narration?

  • I find it sad that the very thing that introduced me to Macross is the very thing holding it back in the US. Still, Robotech was a strong part of my childhood, this intro/theme is all kinds of epic.

Now when will Harmony Gold get a clue and realize that the era of Robotech is long over...

  • @atomofish also long as they can sell robotech sequels then the era of robotech is not over. The era of robotech 1 series may be over.

  • The only good thing about Robotech is that it got me to watch good anime and realise how horrible the Robotechisation of Macross was.

  • Based on Nostradamus prophecy

  • Way back in the 1980s I watched this on a local Television station here in Portland, Oregon. I fell in love with this show. This was one of the shows that really turned me onto Anime. This is from a time when people weren't afraid to dream, something we could really stand getting back to. ANd the charcters really knew how to grab you.

  • Robo what????? never been mentioned or told in the series. Macross is an icon. when I bought a VF-1 toy, the box set is MACROSS, and not robocrap....

  • @11macross roboshit is also acceptable sir.

  • @11macross You are so uneducated. For a so-called Macross fan, you're absolutely oblivious. You're obviously not born in the 80's.

  • @TheTumboos so you admit you're a macross fanatic, also scolding how to be a macross fan. Sorry my friend you haven't opened your pandoras box and still it is in you drawer. Macross Universe advances with inovation. Actually i'm much older than you

  • this bring shivers down my spine, of a time where dreams and fantasies were real and the courage and companionship of these characters made me stand in awe as a kid

  • how many remember watching this on toonami

  • @Xinathor I did during my high school years!!!

  • great music, my favourite cartoons

  • I loved the theme music.

  • RIP Carl Macek and robotech. Macross will continue to live on.

  • recuerdo bien que en esos tiempos las caricaturas mas chidas eran anime y quien me lo niege esta equibocado

  • grande robotech

  • wenaa lo mejor robotech

  • My memories of this are it was the cartoon that was on when I left out of the door to catch the school bus.

  • I heard this so many times as a child, now it's nostalgic.

  • the Robotech theme was the only thing better than the original Macross...in my opinion anyway, also I liked the names better...but above all else I wanted a helmet like Ricks so I could ride my motor cycle in style lol

  • VIVA ROBOCRAP !!! ^^

  • @JamesBond77 Still at it? Boy those rants of yours sure do get boring

  • @slyther2 LOL, I know. Tell me about it.

  • @JamesBond77 Its Robotrash not Robocrap!

  • @holodock hurl all the insults you want, but this is still responsible for a lot of people our age liking these silly Japanese cartoons. Hell, I have it for nostalgia's sake even though I have my AnimEigo SDF Macross DVDs.

  • @npnnrtn Hm... I am pretty sure there is a vaccine against that AnimEigo :P Now seriously I watched Robotech, Voltron and a lot of similar shows but I still don't understand why Japanese people are so obsessed with giant robots.

  • @holodock

    Don't flame Robotech...

i own all the macross saga (i mean super dimensional fortress macross) from macross zero, to sdf macross, to dyrl, then macross 7, then the macross 7 ova's, to macross plus, plus the movie rendition, then i also own macross frontier.

but without robotech, i wouldn't of have even discovered of a great franchise, actually i bought all the robotech movies i could before carl mackec (who died on april 17th of 2010. A.K.A my birthday.)

  • @Continuation

all i have left to say is that, this cartoon is much better dubbed than some anime's.

i also actually own super dimensional southern cross. thanks to robotech. and even genesis climber mospedia, thank's to robotech. now what makes little to no sense to me, is that why didn't they finish it with super dimension century orguss

my point stand's nontheless. robotech is what it is, the name could use some work, but i liked it when i was 12 like 5 years ago, and i still do.

  • @Ultraxwing I like it most when you say when you were 12.. 5 years ago... I can say I remember this on tv back when I was less then 5 more then 20 years ago I still have all my toys aswell as original vhs and dvd collection.. Not making fun of you in anyway just nice to see it was still pulling kids years after I was done with it

  • @n0vaGT

    can't beat the classics.

  • @JamesBond77 robocrap?

  • One word: " ROBOTECH ".

  • the best Robotech!

  • i hope they will make it into a movie

  • robotech is like gundam...but better sort of

  • MACROSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i still cann't believe this is from 80's ....it's really very good i feel.

  • what is the name of the white and red plane robot at the end?

  • @pinkrudy It's a Valkyrie, or Varia tech if my memories are correct...

  • @DamascusTer wow thank you.. i wanted the toy when i was young and never got it :( now on ebay i see its called valkyrie VF-1J ..thank you!

  • @pinkrudy De rien :)

  • good sound and image quality! How or where did you get it?

  • Man, if I was a pilot and during the battle I'd hear this theme, death would be nothing compared to the glory of the victory.

  • they did conkd

  • Robotech sucks!!! Macross all the way!!

  • @009FGH wow chill out. it's just a tv show

  • My childhood returns!

  • they must make this in real life

  • The Best!!!!

  • AMO ROBOTECH ;D

  • this music by signore minucci is quite awesome. Sfx are also pretty exciting; they added so much to the overall image when I first saw it and it still does!

  • Ohhhh.... I remember as tried not to pass any series on tv ))

  • they need to do something to put robotech back on the map like an mmo or something

  • You can write about robotech/macross, see it, listen to it, be nostalgic, intellectualize it or be lyrical about it but none will get the point, for it is sheer experience that you must be willing to undergo. Only by that way can you truly say: that is it.

  • Que buen video..... Me hace recordar mi época escolar... GRANDE ENTRE LOS GRANDES....

  • I love the original sound effects - like the cockpit sounds and the mechs. The new Robotech dvd effects are so bland & noisy unfortunately. - wished they kept the original.

  • @derrickmn2009 I read about that on Wiki after you posted it?

  • BTW, did anyone know that Carl Macek died earlier this year? Yes, the man that helped bring these awesome series to the USA is gone. Thanks, Carl, for all that you did to bring anime to us!

  • @kyokogodai best theme ever, thanks Carl.

  • Truly a classic!

  • omg....the nostalgia...2nd grade !!!!
