I think instead of Darken you should choose Multiply, it looks better with the gray shadows :)

how do you resize the tattoo?

it came out much bigger than the background when i dragged it on.

Hold down Ctrl t ( on a mac command t ) and free transform will come up and then resize it to the size you want and then press enter when your done
