@SynodCenturion If you have been to a good Thx approved cinema you have heard what the Jbl's sound like.
Small magnet ? it doesent have any fancy aluminium glitter or chrome on it. Its just the magnet you see there. The basket is all aluminium and it still weighs around 24 pounds. The Earthquake Sub Zero Holees 15 which is the biggest i've found is 112lbs total, that is with all bling, bracing etc.. For Db drag the Jbl's wont work well but for clean controlled bass in a theatre they excel.
@SynodCenturion Magnet weight means nothing and anyone who bases a speakers value or quality on that spec is buying into marketing and not good audio savy. If the big magnet translates into a high BL factor, then it means something, but a big maget also means very little if it gets too hot & looses its strength. A neodymium magnet driver would have a magnet structure a third the size of a similar ceramic magnet driver & have a higher BL factor. Check the drivers thiele small specs instead
@SynodCenturion Also magnet size/mass has nothing to do with how much power a speaker can handle. A better measurement criteria would be how much power can the driver handle before it starts to behave erratically and produce excessive distortion, and and even important spec is so how efficient is that driver in the desired bandwidth.
If you want to learn science and not marketing, I suggest the following paper: Prediction of Speaker Performance at High Amplitudes by W. Klippel
@jeabo0adhd I suggest you read up on the Thile Small parameters and particularly BL factor. With neodynium you can have a magnet structure less than half the size and wieght of a ceramic magnet structure and still have more magnetic force in the gap. Magnet size by itself is just a marketing spec. alinco, ceramic, and neodynium all have their +/-
Bl - The product of magnet field strength in the voice coil gap and the length of wire in the magnetic field, in tesla-metres (T·m).

Very small Magnet for a single voice coil for such a Diameter Cone.
I mean,, not to sound pro, i dont have any of these subs u have.
But I do have a Earthquake Sub-Zero, with a Magnet that weighs like 100 pounds.
And that thing is made for pure power.

@neechee5150 But a larger magnet helps speaker control its diaphragm, : )
