  • Anyway.....you have made something meaningfull to open up the Mandailing Art there in Malaysia. I wish I could sit as the regent and furthermore asking you to be an Art Ambassador of Mandailing......:). Tq.

  • Waaaa me as an art ambassador? Waaaaa hahahaah! ^___^ InsyaAllah...... kalau ada rezeki.... can eat buluh gadong everyday. LOL XD!

  • He...He....He...Not Buluh Gadong but Bulung Gadung (Boeloeng Gadoeng)...

  • The dance is accompanied by drum so called "gordang sambilan/ the nine drums", gongs and flute. There will be a poem reader as well. Another dance could be ferformed is martial art so call "Marmoncak/Pencak Silat". Unfortunately, I didnt manage to provide such video. I wish I could record it last lebaran but my time was too slim in the village. Anyway.....you have made something meaningfull to open up the Mandailing Art there in Malaysia.

  • It was also performed by royal family once they welcome distinguished guests to the palace.

As far as I know, each nine gordangs has its own name, which is so called, 1. Saba Jae-Saba Julu, 2. Jangat (three drums for it), 3. Tepe-Tepe, 4. Hudong-Kudong, 5. Jom 6. Eneng-Eneng.

Since the monarchy system no longer available in Mandailing, the authorities for instance mayor, regents are used to performing it when welcoming prominent people from the higher governmental level.

  • Okay i really did not know this. I guess i learn something new everyday. ^___^

  • Hi Mak Cik!. I am Rozak Tanjung of Indonesia. I browsed the video coincidently since your comments on my video came up as well. Interesting.........I just want to add a bit about the dance as brseavey asked for it. "Manortor" is the original name of the dance which is now widely performanced during cultural occasion such as marriage parties.

  • Oh yeah yeah i've seen that particular video in YouTube. :)

  • Looks like a great time! Very cool, thanks for sharing! :)

  • Hehehehe no problem! ^_^ They're totally having a lot of fun alright! :D

  • Heheheh memang lucu. Masing-masing mau ambil kesempatan untuk tortor tapi nampak gaya macam silat. Hehhehehe ^_^

  • hahhhah lucu nih...ini tortor juga sih tapi mungkin beda nama dia, soalnya ada banyak nama tortor itu sendiri, ada tortor raja-raja dll

  • This is really interesting. Can you say more about the dance?

  • Hie there. :) Well.... I'm not really sure about it because it originate from Sibanggor, Indonesia. But what i can say is that what's on the video is a little excited kind of dance because the real menotor is a little calmer than that. ^_^ Sorry for the late reply. :)
