  • i think u are going 2 have the best outcome ive seen so far!!

  • DAMN IT! i knew i should have kept my sobe bottles. now they're plastic:(

  • has blurred the liquid that I made that I can clean it or should I do it again from the beginning;

  • BTW, any concerns about the glass breaking under heat? I've heard of this happening when people try to heat a real lava lamp on a hot plate or in boiling water...

  • @rustichan just dont heat it up with the cam sealed

  • Awesom solution to the lava lamp problem. It looks like paraffin has a density of 0.83g/mL at 71.1 degC (slightly below melting point) and 0.0.80g/mL at 82.2 deC (close to boiling point of isopropyl alcohol. Pure isopropyl alcohol has a density of 0.786g/mL and 70% isopropyl alcohol...0.87g/mL at room temp. (BTW, the airspace in my lava lamp base is 76.6 degC at steady after 4hrs.) I like the idea of using oil pastels for coloring te paraffin. Thanks for the video!

  • i dont even like lava lamps im mean their cool but my favorite thing in the world is animals

  • @12booked ya but you cant put an animal on your desk make it stay all the time and watch it when your board at your computer....unless its a fish but i rather watch a grooving lava lamp:D

  • hi i made one of theese and my lava lamp wax just sets at the bottom i added the 70 but it still sets at the bottom

    can u plz help me

  • Nice video!

Instead of using 70% alcohol, can I just use the 91% alcohol and balance it out with drops of distilled water???

    Greetings from Germany

  • @Hexenhammer667 sure should work good luck!

  • @Hexenhammer667 OR just use water, epsom salt, and a couple drops of dish soap. worked for me replacing my fluid

  • I wonder if his job is selling lava lamps

  • instead of saying candle wax he said cadle lax

  • hi ummm can u add glitter to it?cuz i saw some with glitter in em n i wanna make 1 but just making sure (:

  • hey, i used exactly the same ingredients with you, except for the beeswax, cause i don't know where i can get any of it in indonesia.. but why can't i seem to get the paraffin wax to melt inside the bottle of 90% alcohol..??

i melted the wax and the blue crayon outside the bottle, poured it into the bottle, waited for the wax to cool down and hardened before i get the 90% inside the bottle..

i am using a 40watt bulb to heat the bottle. it's been 2 and a half hour and it hasn't formed any blob.

  • hey man, can you write the ingredients and the steps please, cuz i dont undertand anything im from spain

  • lol beezwax

  • whats the lamp thing u use.? where could i get it..? how much..?

  • AC\DC :D

  • I used to watch my uncle make homemade lava lamps all the time. Listening to Pearl Jam and drinking Orbitz. Man I miss the 90's.

  • can i use any kind of bottle? like a liquor bottle?

  • Great, man!!

  • thanks a lot.hey do you know how to make a glitter lava lamp?you know those lamp which makes textures on your wall caused by the reflection?

  • @Alxmir23 --yeah, ...... glitter.....huh - huh.... -said in bevis voice... love glitter. my surfboard even has glitter on the bottom. you should check on ebay for these cool led light projector things made to splash light on your ceilings. they have one that looks like you're under water and a space one. they're super cool and cheap. and when i say cheap, i refer to price AND quality. not made very well, but again, cheap. so buy 2.

  • nO proBlemo....hastA la Vista BAby........!!!!

  • I'LL BE BACK

He said in a terminator voice.

  • Could u just use 80% alcohol and leave the 70% and 90% alone

  • @youtoo124365 Yeah but they dont make that or market it as widely as the two.

  • cool, what if i only have 99% alcohol instead of the 91%? will it screw it all up? cuz i cant seem to find 90% alcohol anywhere................... PLZ RESPOND!

  • add some water to it ...i mean really do you need to ask that quaestion

  • Hi trying to complete making a lava lamp using the method you demonstrated in your 5 Part Video Series. In the beginning while the wax is starting to get really warm, individual balls begin to surface, and everything seems like it's gonna work fine.

However, when the wax FINALLY gets completely hot, and begins to look like lava, it just forms into one big ball, and stops moving.

  • I've tried tinkering with the amount of (70 percent ALCOHOL) over (91 Percent ALCOHOL,) but no matter what, the wax either just forms ONE big ball (at the top of the bottle) or One big ball (At the bottom of the bottle.)

I will note that I couldn't find the Beeswax Pellets that you showed, so I used

    4 0z of."Murrays" with 1and 1/2 POUND of PREMIER CANDLE WAX.

Wondering if it's the fault of the Beeswax. Is this something that should be happening? And if not, what am I doing wrong?

  • you sound really lazy. lol

  • If I use more than one color pastel for different waxes will they combine when the lamp is on?

  • hi! i need the ingredients please. you can write me them¿

in the third part, which is inside the bottle? water or alcohol?

    Thank you

  • Hm this just made me quit, a commercial lava lamp would have a better price/quality ratio :P

  • lol pause at 0:12

  • whats so funny

  • oh btw where do you get the alcohol too

  • where do tyou get the beeswax, please reply and rate five stars :D

  • yeah, I think i'll just buy it, it's MUCH cheaper....

  • the wax in this vid is enough too make like 100 lamps, the alcohol is a little spendy the bottles are kinda free cuz they are so easy too get from people who buy them would otherwise just throw them away. the dyes go long ways. so i guess if i spend a hundred bucks i can make every color como you can imagine.

  • @rwinkler2002 Nice tutorial! :D You're awesome. I already have a bought-lava lamp but I'm hoping to try this out :)

  • I can see that, but I think the point of this video is to let you make one and put it in any bottle you want. Think any cool bottle you can put some heat on with a light bulb. Thanks for this information

  • @cocomochococo and why would you make 100 lava lamps?

  • @noogaixXx did I say that? NO. I said it's much cheaper to just buy a lamp.. and rwinkler2002 said you can make 100 lamps ;)

  • @cocomochococo this video is for people that WANT or HAVE to do it, i have to do one for homework.. teacher wont let me buy one :l lol

  • could you just melt down some candles?

    awesome video mate

  • how much was the wax?

could i get melt down some candles would it work?

  • cool idea and nice ACDC jacket

  • oil pastel colors is to color the wax?? o_O

  • probably so that it doesn't mix with the food coloring used to color the rest of the lamp.
