  • Glad I could help, if you want a lesson over skype let me know!

  • I REALLY need to learn how to make reeds! I'm trying to get some tips online, and this definately helped. Thanks for uploading!

  • do you normally make the back before you clip it open and thin the tip?

  • I thin the tip enough to clip open immediately after tying the cane on to the staple. The back will be scraped a little later. I'm actually making an HD video series on reed making. I hope to have it ready for streaming to itunes in a month.

  • @simontai1 Well if it's at all like these videos, I'll surely buy it!

These are very helpful, especially getting the bottleneck from the heart to the tip

  • Check my channel for a sneak peek of the series. Will be up in a moment.

  • I'm amazed at the quality of this movie, like others. Sharp knives are important. Thank you.

  • Hey thanks!

I sometimes let it slip because I get too busy and it always gets me sooner or later. So I'm trying to put more effort into having really sharp knives "all" the time!

  • Thank you! Great camera quality too! I could actually see what the scraping was doing to the reed. I am in high school and just bought a reed tool kit so I can learn to scrape oboe reed blanks. This was very helpful (:
