He got a director, who incidentally was also a dancer, and had them kinda dance around Summer while she did the scene. @Michael In the Firefly series when Mal chooses Kaylee as the engineer, he used words like 'genius' to describe her. The notion then of 'superior' is not strange to this story. In the scene in Serenity where the Reavers are daunted by rocks flying into their engine and go off course, but come back to the chase, Zoe says, "How do they do it!?", alluding to the fact, that they fixed their ship in an incredibly competent fashion, far beyond the norm... thus, 'superior'.

Oddly enough, although we imagine Reavers to be mindless berserkers, there are two interesting observations... first, they die as easily as anyone. The drug which made them Reavers did not make them superhuman strong or self regenerative. Second, they were technologically superior, and could fix their ships with ease and very quickly too!... which is contradictory to their 'mindlessness'??

Personally, I think that's why Firefly is more well liked than his other works. He didn't have enough time to give answers, so we're left with an amazing mystery.

It's just fantasy. She should have just "killed them with her mind".

@jetpoweredgriffin Normally I'd agree with you, but the way this scene was filmed at least tries to imply that she's constantly in motion, and the reason they're hitting her one (or two, or three) at a time is because they can't keep up with her - they're chasing her around the room, not taking turns to attack while she stands still. It doesn't entirely succeed in this regard, but it does better than most examples of the type.

It's a Hollywood underdog fantasy for girls(and River fans) like Sucker Punch.

Personally,

I would have found it more intriguing to see her doing something like a hypnotic standoff with their

Alpha figure(if they have one),maybe "using her brain" like she told Jayne in "Trash",unless she was just teasing him.

I just found it hard to accept that they dragged her through and then she came out with her clothes undamaged and

she was unwounded.

Besides, it was one of the best "supposedly dead character pops up alive and well" moments ever. When her dainty little fist swings into frame and takes out that Reaver, I was grinning from ear to ear.

Problem is- they didn't! They DID all dance around like monkies and watched each other go after her ONE AT A TIME! If the Reavers did what Reavers supposedly do and attacked her like even moderately aggressive humans would do- ALL AT THE SAME TIME- she'd be buried in a pile up. Word of caution- don't expect things to ever turn out this way if you are caught out. Too bad for those young enough and dumb enough to take music,movies and video games seriously that have to find out the hard way.
