When I saw the title of the video, at first I thought agame starring Zelda wouldn't make much sense and would just sort of feel gimmicky. After hearing your ideas, my opinion changed. The stealth/action aspects of Sheik would be cool, plus Zelda's always seemed to be more magic-oriented than Link, which could also lend itself to some awesome gameplay ideas. I'm really liking this idea now.
Zelda should have her role in action besides sides she can shoot light arrows,and she can also use a sword be it be nice to give her a hylian shield too.and a female link? i think its better to leave link the way he is.

Almost every Link is a seperate character anyway, so I don't see why the heroic legacy can't be passed on to a girl.

I think there should be an official Zelda game designed by Nintendo which lets you play as Zelda. I also think future Zelda games which star Link should let the player decide Link's gender. I don't think of Link as a set-in-stone character like Samus or Mario, I think of Link as that guy in the Zelda games who you can usually pick a name for. I'm also a guy who likes to play as girls.
*spoiler alert if you haven't played OOT* i would play OOT but from Zelda's point of view. but start the gameplay where she trains to become Shiek and go from there. you would meet link once and a wile and you would rescue Ruto from under the ice at the water temple and stuff like that.
I agree with choosing who to play as in the beginning and whoever you choose alters the storyline. If you play as Link, you save Zelda. If you play as Zelda you save Link. :D

Maybe the next LoZ could feature a system where you play as both Zelda and Link. Where you have to play as a magic wielding Zelda with her own set of tools, and Link with his tools and of course the Master Sword. In order to navigate through a dungeon you would have to use both characters, tools, and abilities. This could make Boss fights more interesting and challenging. The game play could be 1 player or two players with an option to switch at any point.
I had thought this a while back. seems kinda weird through all the generations of link, that one is not a girl. And on a kinda related note I always name link with my name, violet. so I pretend she is a lesbian with zelda. :P
@Megpoidhearts The thing about the series is that the continuity is barely explained and is only connected through a few events. Either remaking the universe or making an alternate storyline doesn't seem very far fetched. In my opinion anyway.
I think a Zelda game starring Zelda is sort of possible. Skyward Sword is the earlist in the timeline but they said it isn't the first because they want to keep open the possiblity of earlier games in the timeline. Given Skyward Sword's story, we might see a prequel where you play as Zelda.
But hey, if that fairy Tingle can get his own games, why can't Zelda? Her name is in the title, remember that? XP

Maybe not make Link into a girl, but possibly introduce a new girl who is like Link. Or make a game where Link turns into a girl and the quest is to find a way to change back into a guy. There is a lot of different things they could do. I'm kind of neutral since I didn't grow up playing the Zelda games and I don't feel as strongly as this guy does about changing his identity. They can do a lot of things instead of rehashing it with different stories and side characters.
why not play both in a way first part of game it's Link, second part Zelda, and so fourth as long as gameplay is good and story is good then it will be worth a buy (getting tired of the stupid COD games)

Make a Zelda game like a old Resident evil game. Like you play as Zelda or Link first, and then you play the other character in the next senior. In that way you have a way to play as each character 2 times.
I can see having a game with zelda having a bigger role, but not revolve completely around her. If it does it has to be a spinoff. As for having a female link i say no way. There are certain aspects of the game that if you take it away it won't be a zelda game but a totally different game. Taht why your idea of a spinoff ip sounds more reasonable
I think it'd be awesome if they released a game where you played Link like you normally do. Maybe not rescuing the princes, but helping her save Hyrule. And after you beat it with Link, it would unlock Zelda's side of the main story, with her having her own dungeons and interacting with Link's dungeons. Maybe you could even make it (optional) two player for boss fights?
unless they make an alternate timeline or use the timeshift stones it would fuck up the Zelda franchise since Link is the hero whose destiny saving Hyrule (AKA the really tiny world of the Legend of Zelda), Though a great way they could pull it off without the use of time shifting or timelines would be if in a few parts of the game you would play as Zelda and the other parts Link

Judging by what happens when you search 'rule 63' and 'Link' or 'Genderswap' and 'Link' the internet has this well taken care of. (Also funny: thousands of them are just current link with boobs thrown on...Even when it comes to cosplay. And the change is barely noticeable!)
How about making the next Zelda game were you can customize link when you start a new game. You get to chose color of tunic, clothing, and gender, and, facial features, and skin color. That will make everyone happy, but if Nintendo decide to go that route for a female link, then it will be what it will be. Anyway it does not matter since I will not be playing it since I am not going to get a new console just to play it.
Maybe a multiplayer game were you can play as Link or Zelda. Kind of like Lego Starwars were you play singleplayer and multiplayer with a companion (in singleplayer the companion is just an NPC) and you have to cooperate with this companion to solve puzzles, or kill specific bosses, you get the idea.

While open-minded people would probably get a Zelda game where you play as Zelda, I can definitely see there being people that would treat it like a lame spin-off. With Mario, spin-offs are one thing: Mario isn't a very serious series and we're used to the spin-offs because they've been around for so long. With Zelda, the story is more epic in scale, so spin-offs might be less well-received.
Dude, disc 1 play as Link & disc 2 Zelda. Two overlapping stories, but different games on each end. This works great on Resident Evil 2. & lol @ Zelda's Adventure on CDi
What about playing as Zelda during OoT. While link is "zoned out" you play as Zelda and the trials she faces into turning into sheik, and the final boss can be protecting link as he fights Gannon.

I can go for a Zelda game playing Zelda. Maybe it´s a Zelda who have been hidden among a nice familey and she have just lived a ordinary farmer girls live. But then here ancestors comes and reveles who she is and she most fight to awaken the Great Hero and so the ending scene is she awakens a version of Link who is much of like an old man captured by the evil King but when released he defeats the Evil King and Zelda goes out to find out who she wanna be. I was thinking something like RE4's Seperate Ways, but with a hit Zelda game, you would play the half of the story you didn't see. I'd personally like to see what happens during the seven skipped years in Ocarina of Time, or maybe Sheik's half of the story in that game. Come to think of it, a story following Tetra in Wind Waker would be awesome. If they made games like this that took place in the same world but followed Zelda, I agree it would be a surefire hit.

Nintendo should make a Zelda game that lets you play as Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf, with the three of them working together. They do represent the Tri-force and all that.

I think the answer to that is no...over the years, Link has become an iconic character, developed upon a number of specifics that have never changed: accomodating the desire for people to alter the main character's gender would only raise agitation with the possibility of pleasing some people. If you can customize gender, people will want to customize race as well, and age, and height, and weight, and it's all downhill from there.

I would definitely enjoy a game with a female protagonist. Half of the game can be about Zelda and the other half can be about the origins of her alter ego Sheik!!! I would also like to see her other alter ego Tetra. The game would explain all of Zelda's "characters". It can be called The Origins of Zelda or something...haha
'Threads of Fate' style. Perhaps even Star Ocean The Second Story. Having Link's story version, versus Zelda's, the player can pick or play both. If Wii U had trophies or achievements, why not make some trophies exclusive for certain characters so you get to see all aspects of the game instead of just one sided storylines.

I think a Zelda game starring Zelda is sort of possible. Skyward Sword is the earlist in the timeline but they said it isn't the first because they want to keep open the possiblity of earlier games in the timeline. Given Skyward Sword's story, we might see a prequel where you play as Zelda.

Maybe not make Link into a girl, but possibly introduce a new girl who is like Link. Or make a game where Link turns into a girl and the quest is to find a way to change back into a guy. There is a lot of different things they could do. I'm kind of neutral since I didn't grow up playing the Zelda games and I don't feel as strongly as this guy does about changing his identity. They can do a lot of things instead of rehashing it with different stories and side characters.

I think it'd be awesome if they released a game where you played Link like you normally do. Maybe not rescuing the princes, but helping her save Hyrule. And after you beat it with Link, it would unlock Zelda's side of the main story, with her having her own dungeons and interacting with Link's dungeons. Maybe you could even make it (optional) two player for boss fights?

How about making the next Zelda game were you can customize link when you start a new game. You get to chose color of tunic, clothing, and gender, and, facial features, and skin color. That will make everyone happy, but if Nintendo decide to go that route for a female link, then it will be what it will be. Anyway it does not matter since I will not be playing it since I am not going to get a new console just to play it.

Maybe a multiplayer game were you can play as Link or Zelda. Kind of like Lego Starwars were you play singleplayer and multiplayer with a companion (in singleplayer the companion is just an NPC) and you have to cooperate with this companion to solve puzzles, or kill specific bosses, you get the idea.

I would really be fine with it going either way, but I don't know about others. While open-minded people would probably get a Zelda game where you play as Zelda, I can definitely see there being people that would treat it like a lame spin-off. With Mario, spin-offs are one thing: Mario isn't a very serious series and we're used to the spin-offs because they've been around for so long. With Zelda, the story is more epic in scale, so spin-offs might be less well-received.

I was thinking something like RE4's Seperate Ways, but with a hit Zelda game, you would play the half of the story you didn't see. I'd personally like to see what happens during the seven skipped years in Ocarina of Time, or maybe Sheik's half of the story in that game. Come to think of it, a story following Tetra in Wind Waker would be awesome. If they made games like this that took place in the same world but followed Zelda, I agree it would be a surefire hit.

I think the answer to that is no...over the years, Link has become an iconic character, developed upon a number of specifics that have never changed: accomodating the desire for people to alter the main character's gender would only raise agitation with the possibility of pleasing some people. If you can customize gender, people will want to customize race as well, and age, and height, and weight, and it's all downhill from there.
But I am all for another Zelda-protagonist game.

I would definitely enjoy a game with a female protagonist. Half of the game can be about Zelda and the other half can be about the origins of her alter ego Sheik!!! I would also like to see her other alter ego Tetra. The game would explain all of Zelda's "characters". It can be called The Origins of Zelda or something...haha

'Threads of Fate' style. Perhaps even Star Ocean The Second Story. Having Link's story version, versus Zelda's, the player can pick or play both. If Wii U had trophies or achievements, why not make some trophies exclusive for certain characters so you get to see all aspects of the game instead of just one sided storylines.

The thing about Link is he's not a character but a symbol most of the games have a different link in them, it be no different if we had a female link than a male one. Though I like idea of a Badass Zelda more, I'd like to see Zelda kick ass, but this got me thinking.
