  • Billy is such a down to earth good guy, how many other rockstars of his caliber do you know that would take time out of their busy schedule to do something like that? Not many.

  • @budboy1988 Plenty, you just don't see it.

  • who is the kid?

  • HE`S MY GOD

  • haha ZZ top is the JESUS version of rock n roll baby xD

  • .............. You just got envied by everyone in the guitar universe.

  • Wow! U lucky dog!

  • He seems like a really nice guy.

  • what is dusty saying in the background ? lol!

  • Was this your own guitar or did Billy let you play on his axe? And if it was your own guitar, how did you manage to take with you it into the hall? Security staff was bribed maybe :-))

  • @sexyguitarboy69 his guitar.

  • It's nice to see a famous musician actually take the time to sit down with a novice and teach them something, unlike some other knob lickers who have no time for their fans.

  • @SebbeSucksBawlz I met Joe Bonamassa last week after his show in Worcester Ma, he was very mellow, and spent allot of time with the fans. Very cool and very polite.

  • ive also been meeting guitar idols of mine but never this man... i cant play when im around them tho coz my hands are always shaking to much.... u lucky son of a bitch :)

  • Do you realize that you were handed a guitar worth around $1,000,000 ???

  • @1952Telecaster I don't think he takes Pearly Gates on tour anymore. That may have been a stock Les Paul Standard. It looks pretty new and shiny.

  • @chadworthman yeah, it could be a Pearly Gates reissue

  • I hate you kid. Luckiest fuck alive.

  • Wow, cool for you.

  • that was sweeeet!

  • @djerwulfe-Well, I think Page is good, really, I do, I have to be honest. I also have to be honest and say he is one of the most overrated guitarists ever. I'm sorry, but "Stairway To Heaven", while a beautiful song, is not the "be all and end all" of guitar playing. I'm not trying to shoot him down, just stating facts.

  • Man, this is just so right on I don't know whether to poop or go blind.

  • wow, what a nice thing for Billy to do. To me this is a true star. Hes a legend but hes still aproachable. Very nice.

  • wow how did u meet him!

  • ...Billy is always super generous & gracious to youngsters... what a classy, cool, humble guy for such a legend...

  • I'm seeing these guys in September, but I doubt I'll be getting lessons. I was always surprised that he didn't have a gritter, more drawling Texas accent, but it doesn't surprise me at all that he's as nice as he is. This is a guy who plays from the soul, and you can't do that if you're busy being an asshole. Anybody who truely loves to play will never miss a chance to talk about it.

  • @CDenic Your so right!! I think Mr.Gibbons should make a video giving a lesson or 2 for the next generation of young rockers or 4 anyone who would like 2 make the purchase.Even if its just 1 song.Hed be doing something really good 4 the kids. This way-hed be able to reach alot of kids..not just 1 or 2 here & there.Hed get points w/god 4 sure!! He seems 2 be a very nice man. Smokinmo11.

  • What a super nice guy . Thats a huge deal . I'm so tired of assholes , myself included. Theres alot to learn right here.

  • LUCKY GUY!

  • LUCKY !!!!

  • Lucky duck. Did u have backstage passes? And was that your guitar or his?

  • i wanna lesson from him 2

  • great experience

  • Wow! You can never quit playing guitar now!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tedhenry10 yes. this is quite true

  • Lucky you! What would I give to meet such a legend!

  • I've always felt this guy is very cool and gentle ! Currently, I think these are rare qualities...

  • That's awesome dude! Got a lesson from one of the maestros who took some time to show you that technique. One of the best moments in your life I'd bet!

  • count your blessings man. you met a legend.

  • sound how he just passes the guitar over, humble gesture

  • It took me 10 years to learn how to palm mute and another ten to pinch those harmonics. He's gettin' a lesson. MMMyeah.

  • classic

  • Good on ya, young man....that right there is something most don't ever experience.

  • once in a lifetime chance... wow

  • yo u are really lucky man if i had the chance i would ask if he would show me MISS PEARLY GATES MAN I LOVE HS GUITAR

  • You will look back on this one day and think HOLY SHIT I GOT A LESSON FROM BILLY GIBBONS...you couldnt find a better teacher

  • oh my god

  • he seems really cool to chiilll with

  • dude its billy fukin gibbons...there probly the coolest people you would meat

  • I met Billy when I was about your age. I was unprepared for how friendly he was! I expected a quick handshake and hello, at the most. Then he started an actual conversation but I was too nervous and I'm the one who said I had to go :-D

  • my moms friend is billies 2nd cousin

  • wow ..... this is my dream to see him

  • Gibbons owns.

  • dude ur one lucky son of a bitch!

  • Man he jes plops that 59 right in his lap no big deal. Ive always heard hes a real cool cat.

    awesome!

  • Billy is a nice human being. Some people let that kind of success go to their heads. Not this cat, a real class act!

  • How cool! Billy is awesome!

  • The Reverend Billy G !

  • Dude, that's fantastic! :D

  • THE REV BILLY F GIBBONS!!!!

  • lucky bastard...

  • I cant bealive this!!! Your so lucky dude...Oh Let it be.... Billy is the legend his the king of dirty blues rock music yeaaa xD

  • dude billy gibbons touched u . . . nice

  • A couple of people where I work (fellow car enthusiasts like Billy) have met him at car shows and they told me that is is a class act of the highest order. I really like what I saw in this video, taking the time to show a young guitarist the finer points of a technique. Jimi Hendrix was noted for that also, he would never tell a kid to get lost who asked him a question about guitars and playing music. On the other hand, Jimmy Page has always been a party pooper when it comes to things like that.

  • Jimmy Paige? Party pooper? O.o say it aint so... lol most celebrities are like that though.

  • Sad, but true, Hejj 10, and I have heard other corroborating stories that are similar to the incident depicted in the book "Hammer Of The Gods" the Zeppelin biography. During the "Led Zeppelin III" sessions, some kids were out and about, and came upon Page. One had a guitar, and asked him to play. His response? "Uh, I don't know how". I know most celebrities are like that, for sure, but definitely not Reverend Willie G.! :)

  • I have actually met Jimmy Page once on a subway and he was one of the most down to earth people i have ever met.

  • Good news to hear, seriously. I hope he knows how many people he has inspired and whose lives he has made better in some way. Maybe age has changed his perspective. In any case, I am glad he was respectful to you..:)

  • most of those people are very friendly and ofter very shy also. I met Ritchie Blackmore several times and he´s quite normal and very funny

  • @GonzGunner Got to agree with the Jimmy Page comment. Reading their biography and it seems like the whole band were a bunch of fucking cunts..especially Bonzo...still love their music though...

  • @GonzGunner I heard J.P. can be like that which is a real shame for someone whom the guitar has given a very comfortable lifestyle to.

  • @GonzGunner - If I am remembering my Rock 'n' Roll history correctly, Billy Gibbons was, at one point, Hendrixes favorite guitarist. Hendrix supposedly made that statement one night when he appeared on "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson."

Jimmy Page is English, what do you want?

    :)

  • @JasonBunting -Actually, on that Tonight Show appearance, he mentioned, words to the effect, that Billy was one of his favorite new guitarists. He even misconstrued his last name, he called him "Billy Gibson", LOL! Duane Allman, about a year later, said that Billy was "one guitarist to look out for". It's funny, because amongst all those kinds of accolades, Johnny Winter has never made a secret about his dislike of Billy-( continued with next post)

  • @JasonBunting - Johnny Winter said about Billy; "He always thought he was a star, and always acted like one, he could get annoying at times". I don't know how Johnny may think of him now, both of them now in their 60's, but I would bet that he respects Billy's playing and songwriting, in spite of his sometimes "out there" persona, that mirrors the directions that ZZ Top has taken during their long career. And yes, Jimmy Page is big time English....LOL! But he loves ZZ Top and has said so! :)

  • @GonzGunner Jimmy Page is well over rated' For me Billy Gibbons has a better ear for what he's playing and from some vidoes/interviews including this one that I'ce watched he's a nicer guy. Nice touch taking his time to show this kid some stuff.

  • @bloobear1 -I know what you mean. When I was in middle and high school in the 70's, I'm telling you, every ten seconds it was wet the shorts about Jimmy Page, he was the greatest, if you can't play Stairway To Heaven, the greatest song ever written, you were no guitarist, blah, blah blah. Let me tell you, when a guitarist in my neighboring city of Pasadena named Eddie VanHalen burst onto the scene in 1978, Jimmy Page became obsolete overnight. Stairway To Heaven was just another song.

  • @DarthKazi dude, why are you so hostile? dare anyone have an opinion not favorable to yours and you go off like a roman candle. you need some serious kif!

  • Yes - it is the one and only, Reverend, William Frederick (Billy) Gibbons! The man!

  • sweet!!

  • Its nice to see an old salt of a blues player taking a few minutes with some punky kid that is learning to play. The woman my guess is either helping hand, kids mom, or one of zztop boy's lady. Either way, she looks to be enjoying that Dusty is busting balls with Billy and the camera. Nice to see some behind the scene footage.

  • theres like some lady spying with a creepy smile in the backgorund

  • yeah but you... its Becuz of is money... lol ;-)

me...its becuz i'm a guitar Addict. / also , i cant get enough of gibbons blues licks !!!

  • strange he took his glasses of, he just take them of for his wife.

  • Hahhah seems like a rockin dude!

  • I think anyone that meets Billy and gets to talk to him is very fortunate. He seems like a real gentleman. You can't expect him to stop what he's doing and give you an entire lesson. And muting is very important. Lucky guy!

  • I want that hat.

  • What ?

You didn't know how to do palm mute ?

I've seen your cover man, and they're really good, but can you play only the song you did in this cover ?

And what te fuck, you meet Billy Gibbons, and you don't do a cover of ZZ Top ?

  • omg what a lucky guy!

  • even if i'm good... i'd make myself a crappy guitarist just to let him touch my litle finger lolol

  • Lessons from the master. Lucky Bastard!!!

  • thats so fucking awesome!

  • fuuuuuck! lucky!

  • Who's the delectable and gorgeous babe in the background?

  • Dusty Hill

  • Dusty Hill is a guy, dumbo. There's a woman in this video who looks like a babe to me!

  • You lucky bastard!

  • Are you also playing with his les paul? Did you get a back stage pass?

  • this was at the orange bowl when they did the half time show

  • You lucky dog!

  • u r a luck son of a bitch. that is so cool

  • is that Gilligan peeking through the curtain?

  • Man, Billy is like that. He's not a snob at all. He can tell if you are being a real person and in the right environment, he will engage with you completely. He's not like most celebs, but you might not see it unless you can catch him in the right circumstances.

  • This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Off the hook...

  • It may be the coolest I have ever seen

  • Can u tell the story of how and why and when?? pllz lol

  • we were at the orange bowl and before the game i was given the once in a lifetime oppritunity to get a signature a meet Billy Gibbons... so after I got his autograph I asked him what guitar he thought was 2nd to his 1959 les paul. He told me that it would be the 59 reissue.. I guess he noticed I was quite interested in guitars and invited me to his dressing room where he talked to my dad and I for about an hour! As well as giving me some pointers on guitar. In was the best day of my life!

  • WOW what a day that would have been!

  • That's great, you hear so little of famous people doing things like that.

  • Billy and ZZ Top are cool as can be. Them guys are not the typical bunch of stuck up crap groups. They take time for fans, old school. I love ZZ Top!

  • darn how did u ever happen to get a few pointers from him damn

nice u should have gotten him to sign a guitar whle u were there = ]

  • Dude, you do not realize how lucky you are! BILLY GIBBONS IS DA BOMB!!! You are so effing lucky to get a "lesson" from him, now you're a celebrity!

  • That's the top of the chart!!!!!
