WOW!!!!!...This was my favourite at the time..I feel that I may have heard it on the tv test card they used to have and I as a kid used to be glued to the telly just so I could hear it again in case it came on again....Were the Shadows responsible for the music on an advert ferry liquid advert probably...with lyrics something like "little boy far away in a world of your own in a world of dreams dreams of your very own" or something like it?..a cross between this and Telstar probably more Telstar

Funny how 20 years later after this video was recorded, Hank & the others still play wonderful land exactly the same note for note! Even the bit where it stops is the same & The ending, because they played this at the cliff concert 2009 (i went)! Just amazing...
wonderfull land must be the uk, i got to see it in august 09- lovely place. i always loved it when the british groups visited in british columbia. well done lad, and 5 stars to you.
Shadows came out in 1959, Wonderful land 1962 spent 8 weeks at no 1 in the British charts. Radical for it's time, first band to record with a full orchestra.
I love this song, you kind of forget that this came out in 1962! I also love the Mike Oldfeild tribute version of Wonderful land, he brought out the great melody without copying the sound of the original. He obviously admired the Shadows as a lot of other people surly do. Great song and vid! Thank You.
The funny thing is that the line up that recorded it never played it live. Tony Meehan had left to be replaced by Brian Bennett by the time it came out in Feb 1962.
The Sound of the Shadows has been comming along with me since I was 14 years old. I am now 58 and I will love to listen to them until the last day of my life.
I love The Shadows as well, I'm 10 years younger than you so it took me a whle to appreciate them. Do you agree with me, I think that their style is very country & western?
It is indeed, thanks. But I knew Mike Oldfield played it too somewhere. It 's in "The Complete Mike Oldfiled - Disc One". And it's also beautifully played.
