I recently bought a farm with some land where a hunt was always permitted previously by the former owners. I believe it to be cruel warned a hunt to stay off my land or their Horses and hounds would be targets for my shot gun. I will shoot to kill any hunt animal be it horses or hounds that enter my property.

@StevenDoyle35 I spoke to the head of the local hunt on my land and informed him in a pleasant way that I did not want hunting on my land and explained my reason why I had made the decision. They chose to ignore my wishes and trespassed on my land with their hunt a few weeks later that is when I informed them that I would kill their animals if they ignored my wishes. Now I have the right to say what does and does not happen on my land. I allow hunters on with guns as its a quick kill.

i killed a huntsman the other day ... then killed his daughter...then 1 year old son...slowly :) .... then his wife....actually she thought she was going to get away as i said go on run...save yourself...but then i killed her :) ...all in the name of sport of course.....i then i said jolly ho ... an tooted my horn .... lined the bodies up and drove over them in my truck....then i released a load of foxes that i kept hungry for 2 days in the back of the truck...they said thanks an tucked in :)

First of all, I don't think it's ok to let any animal get torn apart by dogs; I think it's inhumane.People who don't know anything about hunting and have never experienced it, can never form an accurate opinion about hunting. The only thing that forms the opinion of these people is emotion. The cuter the animal, the more they bellow. Try having the same conversation about swatting a fly or catching a fish.
So does this mean no hunting at all? in the US you get a lisence and just shoot things (if its the proper season) Farmers and ranchers will shoot foxes and coyotes (or use steel traps which is usually more cruel) without a second thought if they're harassing stock. At least with the stag it's somewhat natural, in a balanced ecosystem they'd have been killed by wolves.
Here hunting is part of wildlife management. At least this way with the fox seems to have a chance to get away.

As I said (and you ignored so aptly) in my previous post, Both foxes and Domestic dogs come from the same genus (Canidae) and the domestication of the dog is widely accepted to be from the Grey wolf approximately 15,000 years ago. British natural history is probably going to back me up on this one, unless it is completely separate from evidence.
And don't assume you know me either...as you are well off the mark! I have never bought duck eggs from a supermarket in my life. The only time I have ever eaten a duck egg is when we used to keep a couple of ducks. We have 4 ex battery chickens now so we get eggs from them or my local farm shop.
I do not hunt myself but I have seen a horse being slashed by a hunt sab with a stanley knife, I have also seen young children riding with a hunt being spoken to abusively by your sort...nice people!

I recently bought a farm with some land where a hunt was always permitted previously by the former owners. I believe it to be cruel warned a hunt to stay off my land or their Horses and hounds would be targets for my shot gun. I will shoot to kill any hunt animal be it horses or hounds that enter my property.

@StevenDoyle35 I spoke to the head of the local hunt on my land and informed him in a pleasant way that I did not want hunting on my land and explained my reason why I had made the decision. They chose to ignore my wishes and trespassed on my land with their hunt a few weeks later that is when I informed them that I would kill their animals if they ignored my wishes. Now I have the right to say what does and does not happen on my land. I allow hunters on with guns as its a quick kill.

So does this mean no hunting at all? in the US you get a lisence and just shoot things (if its the proper season) Farmers and ranchers will shoot foxes and coyotes (or use steel traps which is usually more cruel) without a second thought if they're harassing stock. At least with the stag it's somewhat natural, in a balanced ecosystem they'd have been killed by wolves.
Here hunting is part of wildlife management. At least this way with the fox seems to have a chance to get away.

Is it not to train young foxhounds to 'familiarize' themselves with the 'enemy' ? Secondly, the fox is not a wanton killer, but a very clever opportunist. As I said (and you ignored so aptly) in my previous post, Both foxes and Domestic dogs come from the same genus (Canidae) and the domestication of the dog is widely accepted to be from the Grey wolf approximately 15,000 years ago. British natural history is probably going to back me up on this one, unless it is completely separate from evidence.

I do not hunt myself but I have seen a horse being slashed by a hunt sab with a stanley knife, I have also seen young children riding with a hunt being spoken to abusively by your sort...nice people!

I don not think I'm of a 'higher' class than you at all...I'm probably as 'working' class as they come actually!! As are many of the people that go hunting. And if I were you I'd do a bit more research on your RSPCA monitored meat because if it were free range it would not need to be monitered! And I am not just talking about cruelty towards animals for food...what about animals being tested on in labs? Like I said at least the fox is where it should be when it dies..unlike the meat you eat.

this is a oad of crap... lets ban hunting but lets allow our children to be fed plastic wrapped animals that are fed genetically modified feed. This is the problem with modern TV raised people how easily people forget where food comes from. If they think this is cruel something they dont even have to notice they should go to the nearest slaughterhouse and tell me which is more inhumane....

And also Foxes aren't killed for fun, their numbers are controlled thats all...its an age old tradition and has been working quite well for a hell of a lot of people for many years...just ask the farmers you get your RSPCA monitored meat from!!! I suspect your problem is a class thing, as you seem to have no problems with halal slaughter or intensive farming or any of the other cruelties towards animals in this country. You just don't like it because you think their toffs! What a hypocrite!

@magicstarconna Oh - and I also forgot to add, the RSPCA monitored meat I buy IS free range, and I have also never bought an egg or a vegetable from the supermarket that I can't get from our local farm.
I'll tell you something now - you're probably the type of person who buys "free range duck eggs" from a supermarket thinking they're fresh, when in fact the rainy season has long been in and the ducks have long since stopped laying.

RSPCA monitored!! Ha that means nothing!! All it means is that there are a few less chickens in a barn than the standard batteries...they still never see the light of day! Only a naive townie could speak in the way that you are. I only eat free range meat, and understand the need to control foxes. Incidentally do all hunted animals move to the town...I don't see many wild rabbits or deer hopping round the city. The reason for urban foxes is that silly people feed them and think they are cute!

I don't actually think its a case of being clever anyway...foxes are just acting on instinct, just as the hounds are!! If these dogs were wild thay would hunt in packs, so it's actually all quite natural. There are far worse crimes being committed towards animals. I take it Miakoda that you are a vegetarian or that you eat free range meat, as I hope you would not be such a hypocrite to comment on the injustices of fox hunting and then go to a supermarket to pick up a cheap joint for £2.99!!??

@tomharris22 Maybe it is crueler than halal slaughtering because halal slaughtering is done for food not fun - also, to allow an animal to bleed to death is just like going to sleep - to be ripped limb from limb is rather traumatic for the animal involved.

i have hunted with firearms and air rifles which is a far more humane way to control vermin ! a pack of dog's tearing a fox to shred's is not humane nor is it acceptable for the same pack when they kill people cat's and dog's by mistake during a hunt which you can't deny happens which is totally unacceptable ! and if you do think it's acceptable shame on you !
