  • what a great ensemble!

had me at the first rumble,,

    thanks for posting

  • Fletcher gave me some piano lessons during his stint in Canada, and he conducted the first reading of my first quartet (fl/hrn/cb/pno) in 1973. I went on a UK trip with him in 1976 and we climbed up the Langdale Pikes in Cumbria; also climbed Snowdon!

  • Indeed, if only there were some other videos of Fletcher's conducting, I hope that they come to light and get digitized for us YouTubers. I know he did some further work after he moved to Cardiff, but it was somewhat out of the way for newshounds with film equipment.

  • You will find some more YouTube videos of Peter Fletcher conducting: Wagner Mastersingers prelude and Tchaik's Sleeping Beauty. Go to my LSSO playlist to find them ( in the list they are numbers 91,92,115 and 116). Did you play for him in Leicestershire?

  • And don't forget the conductor. When Fletcher died in 1996 the world lost someone irreplaceable.

  • I totally agree. As good as the LSSO were under Eric Pinkett, Peter Fletcher took the playing standard to a much higher level.

  • These arrangements are brilliant. I absolutelv love them!

Thanks so much for posting vour beautiful work.

(I have alwavs been perverserlv fond of his ridiculous dittv "Slugging a Vampire" and was delighted at its inclusion here.)
