Exactly, which we can't hear. I use a bat-radar to hear my rats laugh when I tickle them. But I meant no audible sound.

@Treemeadow Yes, it's usually non-hearable ultrasonic. I've seen youtube vids about laughing rats - quite interesting. I wish I had the chance to own rats again and to use such a bat detector.

Rats can emit audible sound aswell. I had quite a few and if one groomed the other and the "victim" didn't want to be groomed the rat emitted audible sqeeks.

Oh yes, I know of the groomer protests! They usually happen late at night when I'm trying to sleep XD

Or when they have to have a bath...I don't bathe them frequently, so when they get one, its a shock...and they tell me about it.

@Treemeadow Your comment made me giggle. I know of the bathing protest aswell. My rats used to sleep in their own pee so I bathed them when they still smelled after the cage was cleaned. This happened maybe once in two months... or less. I never used soap on the rats, just for their tails. It was amazing how clean they looked and smelled afterwards. I loved the smell of drying pet rats in fluffy towels.
