So what's your solution then? Burn more oil until either we run out or the pollution finally chokes the planet to death?
And besides, ethanol is a member of the alcohol family of chemicals, they're almost as difficult to solidify as anti-freeze if I remember my chemistry right.
And the US power grid is made up of multiple power plants getting energy from different sources, that is proven the instant you hit the Department of Energy's website.
mjls15 is completely right. It also take more than a gallon of pure diesel pure to produce a gallon of inefficent biodiesel fuel. The electricity must be made from coal, and it's also been proven that by harvesting plants for ethanol hurts the environment more. All this because of hype over a natural Earth cycle! By the way, what ever happened to nuclear power, guys?!?! THINK IT ALL OVER!
Very little power comes from solar. Basically everybody would have to have solar at their house to have enough. Solar at your house costs more than buying from the coal plant. As soon as the cost comes down, buying solar will be a no brainer. The decision will have nothing to do with Co2
Solar's good but it's slow compared to IC-powered motors and is limited by the amount of sunlight you can get in a given day. Still, how fast or far do you need to go in a given day?
Electricity is more efficient though. Also, a given power grid like the US North Atlantic has a string of power plants each tapping a variety of different sources, from coal to nuclear.
Electricity is more eficient... possibly, once it is electricity. Don't forget that at best, a generator puts out around fifty(4) percent of the energy put in to it it turn it from something else(like coal) into electricity.
Watch "Who Killed the electric car?" sometime, one lady could run her car after charging it for the same amount of time you'd spend at the gas pump. It all depends on the voltage versus the amps.
good job Jageet, also like your logo. congrats on the win.

Electric cars and more nuclear power plants. Electric power is fine, but how are you going to make enough?

What is the expected ecological effect from all those batteries after they are expired? Isn't hydrogen power the real solution?
ScubaDubaDive 4 years ago 2
That's a good point. The reality is there are too many people on the planet.

Maybe, but we need to make some kind of shift soon or gas prices will tear us apart.
And I imagine it's entirely possible to salvage dead batteries, difficult but not impossible.
commiedeer 4 years ago
i need one of those
and if people dont care about saving the world then they might care about saving money cuz these gas prices aren't going down anytime soon

ya but it takes a fucking while to charge and if they do electricity stations people wont have 532084237 years to wait till it charges
