Marisa Tomei was brilliant in My Cousin Vinnie.

Nobody else could have played that role so well, so endearingly !

Nobody else could have made a heavy Brooklyn accent sound so sexy on a woman.

I LOVED THAT PART TOO!!.. I read on the internet that she was up against 4 foreign actresses that played really great roles that year, particularly Vanessa Redgrave who was expected to win the oscar for her role in Howards End. So when Jack announced Marisa's name, people thought Jack made a mistake bc Marisa's role was for a comedy that didn't measure up to the other girls.. then the rumors started stating that jack must of been drunk when he called her name. I still believe she deserved it!

i did hear about that rumor with the mistake of giving marisa the oscar for her role in my cousin vinny... i actually saw the movie today and for a comedic performace, I really thought she did great in that film and that her performace was oscar worthy!! no matter how harsh the rumors were, I still believe she deserved that oscar hands down~
