i have the most anoying story i have ever done so i had a compaq computer with widows xp so i was having fun on it then i looked at some prn (BADMOVE) i was on porn tube and it said i need to update flash player but i have already did so i click on the download it did not take me to adobe site it sat there then the blue death apeard so i restarted and guess wat?! internetexplorer would crash when opened and search didnt work i tryed EVERYTHING POSSIBLE so i had to get new new windows xp :,(
Dude, my friend bought a brand new toshiba laptop like less than 2 years ago, and since the first day, the computer was already stucking, like when playing a video...
I installed windwos XP 32bit, though the pc doesnt support it, I managed to get drivers of everything for xp (toshiba only supply wind 7 64 bits drivers). And like a week after, the pc is already stucking, and giving very bad CRC errors, and the OS gets corrupte too... god damnit the hdd is made by toshiba...
Trying to recover from an almost dead hard drive is very time consuming as well, and usually the "my documents" folder (and most of the OS) is toast if the bios can't identify the drive anymore.
when you get a new computer install speed fan it has S.M.A.R.T and an option to preform online in depth analysis it helped me find out that my nine year old sea gate barracuda was going a bit wrong
i had a problem like that man its a pain and i dont hav any money 2 buy a new hard disk so i just go into system dynamics and wait for it 2 test and then before it test the hard disk i pres esc as fast as i can so it will work harder 2 find it try it out i hope it works for u my runniing system is vista i have bin doing this for round 2weeks do u think it will damage my cpu?
My harddrive is dying as well it gave me an error message and well now I'm sad good thing I have warranty so I'll be getting a new one. This is me posting a message from and i touch of my wireless network
i'm running ubuntu 10.04 and i suddenly got the error message in the top right screen. my battery has been dead for over a year now and i can only use my computer when plugged in. do you think that has to do with it? what can i do to fix it? i just fixed it the other week with a problem i was having with it for some months about a filesystem failure!
Years ago mate, but Linux with that machine really is a disaster, in fact, many versions of Windows are too and the ones that do work often won't install from the CD drive, so I have to do a bit of jiggery pokery with copyin files to a hard disk and stuff.
@SPTSuperSprinter156 sometimes my video and mp3 files becomes hang and pc also and now it is going continously can you tell me what is the problem behind it. please help me
if it's within what the BIOS can recognise (if a new computer you can probably put up to a 320GB one in there) and the same slot i.e., IDE or SATA then it will be fine. Brand doesn't matter.
The failure on my hard disk was caused by bad sectors. Yours sounds like actual physical failure - the noise is the read/write head crashing against the disk surface - did you backup? I hope so, as your drive is toast.
Kudos to you for backing up your work! I forgot to back up a ton of important files once, and the hard drive decided to fail on me. I had to spend a week redoing everything on the drive that was important and a lot of money to replace said drive.
Well, it's just the hard disk, which is an easily replaceable component. Once I've got a spare bit of cash I'll buy another HD for it and probably put Windows 98 on it or something.
Ah I had a failed disk in my Powermac G5 that I had for a few months before upgrading to the Pro. Great advice to anyone that doesn't know about the peril of failed disks. 5 starts and great to see you on youtube again!

And, if this wasnt so long ago, it would have probably helped if you ran a full format on it.

Let me guess... It was a hitachi travelstar!
ScottieNiven 2 years ago
@ScottieNiven
Lol not a deathstar:P it was a Samsung Spinpoint I believe. And in fairness it had been pretty heavily abused.
SPTSuperSprinter156 2 years ago
OH CRAP! ive got a samsung spinpoint in mine! Its 3 years old and has 24 relocated sectors!
ScottieNiven 2 years ago
@ScottieNiven all of my past laptops had travelstars.
one lasted 7 years and still going strong.
one only lasted 5.
Macintosh3745 9 months ago
@Macintosh3745 The older travelstars are better than the new ones, ive got lots of 60gb 120gb and even 250gb travelstars which have all died.

Didn't you put Ubuntu on this way back when a few months ago?

No...they don't...maybe the newer ones do but the older ones (post 2006) had very high rates of failure

Yeah, I decided to show up around here again and include not just some tech videos but some of my other hobbyish-type stuff too.
Although I had a bad experience with my last Mac I have decided to be insanely wacky and get a Macbook - one of the new Aluminium ones.
What do you think of them? A bit on the expensive side?!
