NJPW is probably the best wrestling company going today screw wwe tna and roh if you want Pro Wrestling as a sport the way it should be then watch NJPW.
i said this before and ill say it again! That Referee is a LEGEND! You youtube any NJPW match through any decade and there you will see him! Hes ref'd more Big Time bouts than anybody can imagine!
anyone else noticed that Yuji Nagata's attire is the same as daniel bryan's old one but just in blue? is the design a japanese thing? or generic or what lol
Someone tell me exactly how wrestlers work with Japanese wrestlers if the Japanese wrestler doesn't speak english? Is it just a combination of free flowing, feeling it out, and just knowing what to do?
It's cool to hear the Japanese Commentary on here...other videos have the TNA announcers as well. I like how NJPW works with every wrestling company in the states.
1-Jumbo Tsuruta 2-Misawa 3-Kenta Kobashi/ Kawada 4-Inoki 5-Liger 6-Ultimo Dragon 7-Fujinami 8-Sayama aka Tiger Mask I 9-Chono 10- Giant Baba/ Genichiro Tenryu. Thats my opinon anyway for the best Japanese wrestlers. Didn't know if Chono really belongs but he's one of my favs. Hashimoto, Hiroshi Hase, Takada, Maeda, Kanemoto all deserve shoutouts.
Misawa should be first or second on this. Your list can NOT be taken seriously when The Great Muta isn't on it. Chono was better than Muta? No he wasn't. Ultimo Dragon is better than Muta? Sure he was. Inoki considered the 4th greatest wrestler of all time by PWI is only fourth on your list? The exclusion of The Great Muta is not only inexcusable but makes this list extremely suspect. His influence on Japanese and American wrestling is HUGE. One of the most innovative ever in the ring.
yeah I totally forgot about Keiji Mutoh, he's on instead Chono, but Inoki stays 4th. He was possibly one of the most influential to Japanese wrestlers, but not one of the best pure wrestlers. I agree with you on Muta though, he is definitely top 10, but not top 5 on my list because he was too inconsistent. Ultimo Dragon is one of the most complete wrestlers ever. Jumbo stays top for me.
Rizzo i like your list. I looked up the 500 greatest wrestlers of all time according to PWI. Of the Japanese wrestlers, only Inoki (5th) and Liger were ranked ahead of The Great Muta who was ranked 25th all time.
Yeah I suppose its because I grew up watching All Japan as a pose to New Japan. PWI gave Kawada, Misawa and Kobashi more 5 star matches then any other wrestlers, so I'm suprised they weren't higher. I suppose they were looking for the full package, because Muta and Inoki were more influential. Jumbo is top for me because he was legit. He was a Greco Roman Olympian and was trained by the Funk's. He made the transition from amateur to pro wrestling very nicely.
Jumbo was technically sound but he could also brawl. Plus he pioneered the All Japan 'King's Road' style, which Kobashi, Misawa, Taue, Dr Death Steve Williams etc. would use to have so many great matches. He was Giant Baba's protege, plus he had some great matches with the likes of The Funks, Abdullah the Butcher, Rick Martel, The Destroyer, Stan Hansen, Nick Bockwinkel, Ric Flair, Barry Windham, Genichiro Tenryu, Brody, Race and even Greg Gagne. Thats why he tops my personal list.
oh and he also did a great job of putting young Misawa's, Kobashi and Kawada's over. I remember him actually having a good match with Greg Gagne aswell.
Sure but part of the sport in Japan is to withstand the pain there for it gets treated with alot more respect, and in Mexico its like a religion, its too bad most wrestling in amerca is considered a joke (cheers Vince)
I don't know if one is better than the other. Japanese wrestling is just in at the moment.I remember when hardcore was in and people said that was the best. then it became "garbage wrestling". I remember when the high flyers were called "spot monkeys", then people started getting behind the cruisers and X Division guys. People even used to think the super tall super heavyweights going at it was the best. Right not people like the underground stuff and foreign stuff, the grass is always greener

Man, since Japan wrestler is one of my favorites, is Hayabusa back from his neck injury?
HardyBoyFan101 2 years ago
no, he had to learn how to walk again and his current goal is to enter into a ring by his own.
exe2517 2 years ago
Well, I hope for a quick recovery for him. He's arguably the greatest Japanese wrestler in history.
HardyBoyFan101 2 years ago
I'd argue that Kobashi is among the greatest wrestlers PERIOD of all time.
I liked Hayabusa, he could do alot. But I do not think he was the best wrestler on the FMW roster, let alone all of Japan.
That, to me, had to be Masato Tanaka, who is still wrestling stiff, fast, amazing matches.
Hopefully Hayabusa can get back into the ring. He was a big part of what made FMW so great in the 1990s.
It is very unlikely he will ever wrestle again though.
