  • this is better than the cartoons that appear on the tv now a days

  • Something about this is Monty Python-ish. Like an American West Python short.....

  • I'm sick to my stomach with censure! They censured this cartoon, which by the way, you laugh so hard throughout, that you can't possibly be violent, a fact! Today, we have animated sh#T like family guy, that jokes about sacred matters, has a woman having sex in bed with a dog, a dog! And they cut this funny, heart warming classic cartoon? If I could, I'd give a black eye to the people involved in this! Hey,, what they did provokes more anger than that cartoon EVER could! Would you look at that!

  • @geetarnut it's "censorship" and "censored."

  • So underrated, I remember watching this movie all the time, loved it

  • It was removed as a direct order from Michael Eisner, without the knowledge of Roy Disney, directly because Columbine happened just before the release. Everyone at Disney panicked and removed this segment and made other changes to this film as well as Melody Time.

  • @hustonhuddleston Where'd you hear that? Not that it sounds unlikely, I'd just like some solid evidence.

  • @JohnPannozzi I have friends at Disney, also a great deal of the debacle was made public at the time, as Roy was HIGHLY vocal about it, you can look it up online. THE BLACK CAULDRON was the first thing Eisner butchered back in 1984, and the lost footage STILL hasn't seen the light of day.

  • @hustonhuddleston It makes me so sick that they censure a harmless, yes, harmless cartoon,, and allow animated shows like "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons", both of which have done real harm to kids that are allowed to watch them. Family guy has a woman having sex with a dog,, and why is that allowed? That's disgustingly sick,, and yet,, they don't censure that, were shot as a society!

  • @geetarnut it's "censor."

  • Why was this removed? The only problem was with the gunplay? It doesn't seem that violent or graphic. All you see is a big smoke cloud and then their spirits go into the clouds.

  • I've been wanting to watch this again for ages... now that I have, I'm confused.

  • She started his motor with her hand and then its liquid burst out. Did anyone else catch this?

As for the guns. In the North America starting in the late '90s, the mass media were told to potray guns as vicious things. Unlike the video, where they're potrayed as comical things. In short, the video doesn't fit with that ideological political stance. Plus it also got alcohol and sexual images.

There are more traumatic scenes in the Make Mine Music series though. Like the whale's death scene.

  • @OrinokawaMizuki you're reaching too far with your comment. The cranking of the car engine, I watched it a few times, never saw what you saw! I ask you,, why don't you complain about what's on t.v. today? It's so damn rotten, and vulgar, filthy crap! This video is as pure as snow, compared to what we are forced to endure on the tube today!! Makes me sick that people allow the show "Family Guy", where a woman has sex in bed with a DOG!!! Yes!!! Why don't you go and picket FOX???

  • so hatfields and mccoys became the hillbilly version of capuletoes and montechioes

  • How dare Disney tamper with a classic and cut this out!

  • Talk about a hypocritical removal, they go against the very idea of Americana, today's Disney is lame to the core.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I've been looking for this for a while... my copy of Make Mine Music doesn't have this segment! Such a shame that they took it out... but at least they still released the film on DVD, unlike Song of the South!

  • Whats up with the beating at the end it was kinda random? I hope thats not how i be when i get married ^_^

  • I can't believe I've never seen this before. I'm so glad you have this here. I'm doing a research paper on the hillbilly stereotype in Disney media for my Hillbilly Stereotypes class, and this is *so* perfect for it!

  • @rjoyhelvie Glad I could help.

  • @rjoyhelvie Now wath "The wild wonderful white's of west virginia" to see how those sterotypes live on.

  • @milascave2 Thank God some things dont change. God Bless the Baptists!

  • Respond to this video... Thank God some things dont change. God Bless the Baptists.

  • @rjoyhelvie Geez,, you're kidding,,, right??? Take a pill already,, this is good natured cartoon characterization, no harm intended! Look at what we have to watch these days,, sex in the city, family guy, the "simpletons", and a whole lot of trash! Do a paper on the absolute child-molesting crap that I just mentioned and you'd be doing humanity a big service!

  • @geetarnut I don't think a paper on Family Guy is going to help @rjoyhelvie in a class on Hillbilly Sterotypes.

  • @rjoyhelvie You seem to ignore one important fact, yes, a fact! Stereotypes are made by what? Rumor,, or noted observation and observation? The latter is true! I know many black people, and they LIKE watermelon, chitlins, chicken, and collard greens! A fact! Why? Because that was what they could afford,, which I feel sorry about! All races have stereotypical actions, and thinking, its been a fact of life from the beginning!

  • OMG !!! love Classic Disney......I agree...they should've left this in the dvd...... I know times have changed alot sence this came out.... but they hav not changed tht much.... the PARENTS and CHILDREN didn't hav a problem back then.. and there were wars and gangs.... So there shouldn't ba a problem 2day ???? the should rerelease the dvd..

  • @86forever Totally agree.

  • @86forever I agree, it's actually hypocritical that we can't see this classic gems anymore nowadays because of political correctness, Disney should release this maybe with some sort of disclaimer beforehand accentuating the fact that this was done in the 40's and times have obviously changed.

  • @vai82 times have changed, but, people dont! Society will always do stupid things,, what bothers me is why they concern themselves with gun violence and don't stop most of the graphic violent sh%t on tv,, no,, they attack a 60 year old video, of which all the people involved are passed on, including Disney!! So, no one will sue them and so they censure a good, heart warming and funny cartoon classic! Such cowards, utter bu!!$%iT! Cowards in action!!!

  • @geetarnut it's "censor".

  • @86forever you're so right! Just look at what people watch these days! Utter crap!!! The show "Family Guy" shows a woman having sex with a dog,, THATS how sick things are these days,, and nobody complains,,, except,, me,,,

  • Gracie's a babe

  • @haddockseyes That she is, that she is.

  • Was this from UK dvd release?

  • @avickers1992 sadly, there has never been a UK dvd release of this film

  • The MPAA would've rated this film a PG-13 (or maybe even R) if this was EVER intact.

  • Reminds of the Hatfields ands the Mccoys.

  • @Shino8678 basicly it's the same thing

  • How ridiculous of Walt Disney Home Entertainment to have stripped a wonderfully enjoyable film like "Make Mine Music" by removing this segment. Without it, the film still offers plenty of memorable sequences such as "Peter and the Wolf," "Johnny Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet," "The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met," "Casey at the Bat" and "Blue Bayou," but for no reason should this fun musical story have been removed. It is completely harmless.

  • @TaranWanderer2 Exactly

  • @TaranWanderer2 they removed it because of the gunplay. ):

  • @TaranWanderer2 Yes, I agree 100%!!! People today are sick minded,, proof of that is television today, music today,, and,, movies,, most all are disgusting and void of good natural stories like what you just saw! Is it not true, that many country people went barefoot, or hunted, or had disputes? Remember the Hatfields & McCoys? (this cartoon was loosely based on that true story!). People today need to stop being so damned self-righteous! Compared to today,, this is fit for kids!

  • @geetarnut Lol. I love how you follow up your self-righteousness with a demand for people to stop being self-righteous.

  • were they all related? it said brothers cousins etc... lol

  • @izlude2 I think they're a clan, or a group of families that are marginally related.

  • As a child this shaped how I imagine family fueds in the old south.

  • Love it! My dad used to sing this song and it reminds me of him. Plus I grew up on a mountain.

  • The original Red vs. Blue XD

  • @1st503rdSGT Probably because it was mutual.

  • LOL this was pretty good

  • Goofy Holler at 2:00 or so... I figured this was from a VHS copy. The Martins/Coys

segment (I heard) was deleted from the DVD release of MMM for some reason.

The use of guns (to deadly effect) was far worse in Bambi, and that wasn't edited. !

  • @zuiderzee98 I wouldn't know; I found this clip floating on the Internet. You know, Gauston from Beauty and the Beast was the one who killed Bambi's mother.

  • OMG I love this cartoon! I think it's hilarious! (especially the part when he runs right back into her fist! Ha! Dumba**!) Anyone that starts B****ing abut racism in other cartoons, needs to see this! Disney AND Warner Bros. both made Hatfield and McCoy-like cartoons that depicted white southern/mountain folk as uneducated, barefooted, ratty/patched clothing, violent, drunken, bumpkins! And I love it! I'm not offended in the slightest!

  • @xMoonxtalx Glad you like it. Yeah, Henry really should have watched where he was running.

  • @xMoonxtalx That raises an interesting point. Steriotypes about apalachians are, indeed, closely related to stereotypes about other races.

  • Hi, thanks for the upload! I know that Make Mine Music only got one release without this segment, so I was wondering what DVD (or VHS) you found this clip on.

  • @detectiveconanfiles I didn't. I found it on the Internet.

  • This video is to slow on "Wii Internet"!

  • @Hemley1 Sorry. I have no idea why that would be.

  • I'm currently watching the DVD and this so in a way it's still in the final film!

  • Really? Hmm. How old is your DVD?

  • I meant like watching video along with my DVD.

  • Oh, I see. At any rate, i'm glad you enjoy it. I'll be uploading the other scenes as soon as I can.

  • I remember seeing the background at 3:38 in a couple of episodes of Welcome to Pooh Corner

  • Hmm . . . Doesn't ring a bell for me. But good eye.

  • good job, keep uploading.

  • Thank you. I'll try to see if I can get the rest of "Make Mine Music."
