  • Obama will not reinstate habeas corpus as it will not push his agenda, his coup...shame on those in DC, but shame on the citizens for tolerating the 'taking' of law...read the Constitution...HABEAS CORPUS CANNOT BE REMOVED!!! We handed a blank check to Bush and Obama has taken law a step further...to assassination...eliminating a charge/trial for someone suspected (by whom?) of a crime. We may be saved by Paul in 2012, but the repubmacrats are wearing blinders to the US Constitution.

  • This guy has balls. But now it is 2009, and Bush is out, Now Its time to start Hounding Obama to Give us our rights back. Obama has talked a big game. We must hold him accountable too. It doesn't matter how pretty he talks. OBAMA NEEDS TO REINSTATE HABEAS CORPUS!!! If you like your freedoms, You Americans need to speak up!! NOW!!

  • nope...I looked it up. it is 100% dead on.

  • We should impeach Pelosi for refusing to do her duty and start impeachment hearings for Bush and the gang.

  • Article 1, Section 9, Clause 2 - "The Privilege of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."

Article 10 - "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Unitied States government has no power to suspend the Great Writ, so it has not been suspended. Don't fall for their tricks.

  • "Reporters that act outraged about our loss of rights serve only to mislead us into believing our rights have been lost. They have not! It is a trick. This is an attempt to make us believe we have lost our rights, because that is the only way we will ever accept them being violated. Olberman's assertion that some rights are now gone is a lie. He will stay on the air. "

Perhaps the poet Thomas Gray was right, "Ignorance is bliss" to some Americans.

  • Please educate me. Tell me what you know that I do not. I don't want to be ignorant. Tell me where I'm wrong and why if you can.

  • How he speaks distract from the message. I find it hard to focus on the info due to tone.

  • Reporters that act outraged about our loss of rights serve only to mislead us into believing our rights have been lost. They have not! It is a trick. This is an attempt to make us believe we have lost our rights, because that is the only way we will ever accept them being violated. The Constitution can not be changed without an Amendment passed by Congress. Olberman's assertion that some rights are now gone is a lie. He will stay on the air.

  • You're an idiot. Those who don't care about freedom don't deserve it. Pretty soon you won't have to live under the burden of being free!

  • Brave man. If you go off the air we will know why. God bless.

  • Since when does the Constitution of the United States of America provide Habeas Corpus to Islamic terrorists caught on a battlefield?!? The best thing anyone could do for the world is to clean out the cells at Gitmo with a gun loaded with bullets dipped in pig's blood, and then throw the bodies to the sharks. Those Islamic terrorist scumbags (yes I know that is redundant) are treated infinitely more humane than the Allied prisoners that are captured by fellow traveller jihadis of mo-HAM-head.

  • We have a court system for a good reason, and we certainly do not kill people for only being suspected of crimes. Trials determine guilt - not imprisonment. Just because the enemy behaves criminally does not make it okay. We live by a higher standard. Look! If we allow these violations of basic human rights to continue against anyone, then we are next!

  • The Constitution doesn't provide anyone with rights. It serves to protect our God given rights with law. All people are born with fundamental human rights. The Constitution and Bill of Rights were intended to protect these rights. They do not limit any human rights to what is listed or limit those listed to specific groups of people.

  • The Constitution is NOT a suicide pact. The God given rights protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights are for AMERICAN citizens, and not foriegner terrorists caught on a battlefield that aren't in uniform. How hard is it to comprehend that fact? Do you honestly believe that every person on Earth is covered by those seminal documents of the United States of America government, whether a U.S. citizen or not?!?

  • MrSyzygy,

There are no "rights" in the Constitution: the first ten amendments are merely prohibitions insisted on by Patrick Henry in case the corporation (US) oversteps it's 18 delegated functions and it's 10 mile square jurisdiction.

  • The point is if habeas corpus doesn't protect foreigners it doesn't protect anyone.

  • That is one of the most ridiculous and naive statements from a Dhimmi Leftist in quite some time! Thanks, I needed a laugh today.

  • If foreigners don't have the right to petition what is stopping a police officer calling you a foreigner and locking you in jail forever.

  • Your statement is a Non Sequitur.

  • please explain why my arguement isn't logical.

The Unitied States government has no power to suspend the Great Writ and it has therefor not been suspended. Such claims are false.

  • youre a god damned idiot. would 9-11 qualify as an invasion or a threat to public safety? does it have to be an army, or does more than 3,000 americans have to die from foriengers, for it to be called an invasion?

the country is full of lawyers who know the law, but we have cockwad liberal pseudo-lawyers interpreting the constitution for us.

  • I'm an idiot for quoting directly from our Constition and Bill of Rights? How else can it be interpreted when made so plain and clear? It can not be interpreted otherwise - only ignored. If stating the obvios makes me an idiot, then so be it. Atleast I am a patriot. You are a traitor to the United States of America if you support actions that are in direct conflict with Constitutional Law.

  • TRUTH!

Keith Olbermann, i just gained a ton of respect for you, only if more mainstream reporters had this courage.

  • Reporters that act outraged about our loss of rights serve only to mislead us into believing our rights have been lost. They have not!

  • If you think that Bush can strike Iran with ought any consequences just take a look at this! Google: Secret Scalar Wave Weapons

  • The false flag is being jammed up our asses...could I get some vasoline...please

  • This is a very important editorial. Please view and share. There may still be time.

  • This is the painfu truth that everybody knows but is afraid to talk about

Bush must go , so that America can live.

    Tiger

  • Everyone should see this. The breakdown of democracy...

  • This country's founders established a Constitutional Republic - not a Democracy. The powers of gov't are strictly limited to those we granted as specifically listed in the Constitution. If it is not listed, then they don't have it. All other powers are reserve to the state or the people, and we never granted the President or Congress to the power to grant themselves new powers, so they don't have them. They just need you to think they do.

  • So they dont have the right to give themselves more power, but somehow, they do anyway. They dont have the rights to infringe our rights as people, yet still, they do. You may very well be correct, but what is actually happening, is just as important as what is supposed to happen. Maybe we should try connecting the two more closely in reality, so the constitution isnt warped, in use, into something unrecognizable.

  • They get away with these crimes, because they are able to convince enough people it is legal. They couldn't get away with it if the truth was understood by more people. No we should not connect how it should be to how it is. You don't make sense to me.

  • :P

What i'm saying, is then people should know the truth. So this isnt possible anymore. They should know the truth, so it becomes the reality!

  • Okay. That makes sense to me. Perhaps they should know, but they can't imagine a human being could be so evil or the reason for it. I can't either, but I know psychopaths are capbable of anything and make up 4% of the population. Honest people also believe they already know the truth, since they don't consider they are lied to. We wouldn't be at such a disadvantage if weren't so dumbed down and trusting. People must realize that there are some sick people in gov't.

  • Thats definately true. There are some sick and selfish fucks. The thing i am very concerned about is the motivation of many people in government. Its not in their personal interests to represent the peoples wishes, they are people with corporations and motives of their own. There is no integrity, mostly just corporatism. There are lobbyist, 'foundations' and 'thinktanks' and they all just feed eachother money and ideas, and try to feed us the same ideas. No one seems to be held accountable...

  • That won't always be true. People will be held accountable for their actions. They can't fool all of the people all of the time. They won't fool anyone soon enough.

  • Well i really hope that you're right!

  • Yeah. Me too. You commented on think tanks and foundations. Non-profit organizations are being used against Americans by taking control of our education system. I've seen the result in the students. They can't think critically or focus on anything for long at all. This is what is allowing our gov't to go out of control and the media lies to be believed. Our schools have been used against us by neglecting to teach anything properly or even mention the Consitution. It is a covert attack.

  • Foundations taking control of schools? You're about a century too late.
