@YouSeeMeTrollin1 Little late for that as they haven't produced an album in years but if you were going to buy one, buy this one, I'd say it's their best album out of the 3.
Hardcore fans have been known to fap to pictures and videos of Maynard in drag made by the band . This project later became known as "A Perfect Circle."
Yeah the bass tone is cool. I like that slightly distorted, crunchy bass thats not too thick so the note changes can be heard easily. Thumbs up for Jeordie!
ok all the f i do not hear solitary siren ONE THAT am i trippin? no im not he is not saying siren one that listen to it at :29 seconds iono lol i hear soured portal(port hole) pls tell me what u hear?
this song is very powerful, and should be even more so to anyone who has ever been addicted to drugs...specifically Opiates/H. I have 4 years sober and remember many times being weak, desperate, and in a bad place.
for some reason that is the most beautiful slug, maybe that thing about the more people there are together the better looking they appear, but didn't realize it also worked with weird yellow worm things
@VR24 He does. But this is actually Billy's project. He was Tool's guitar tech and he and Maynard hung out alot while on the road and thats how Maynard came to be the voice for APC. So they both rule!
I'm pretty sure but does someone know if its Jordie White on bass in this song because it sounds very similar to the way he plays, but im not use if he left before this album came out.
i love this song sooo much god damn to think being a druggie let him write such a beautiful masterpiece. i look at this song being about a beautiful girl even tho its about drugs lol.
I remember the 1st time I heard this. It was the first song I heard by a perfect circle. I later bought the album. Then made several drastic life altering decisions for the better.
@cloudzaH I agree with you, to the tenth power! I cherish this album. It helped me get through some of the toughest times in recovery! Hence the album title, "The Thirteenth Step".

@xlunabearx if it were only that easy. If youve never been there, you have no freakin clue. You may think you do, but you dont. Drug counslers dont even have a clue.....trust me
listening to A Perfect Circle just puts me in this mood, where my problems are forgotten and i can feel relaxed...and on a shitty day like today, that's all i could ever ask for
i saw these guys twice live in concert, and i like plenty of bands over A Perfect Circle...but they put on some of the best shows i ever seen and ive been to a LOT of concerts. they sound crystal clear and the props and lights they use is so surreal and beautiful. awesome awesome shows
It makes sense, It uses metaphors to create analogys, The most common metaphor would be the monkey he mentions, By someone feed the monkey he's saying "I have a monkey on my back" wich is never really such a good thing and Wile I dig in search of (China White) as dracula as I aproach the bottom he gives referance to a drug. China White is heroin. Glad to see someone enjoying the music without having to analyze it though.
@MrRearl It's about heroin addiction. "Chasing the dragon" is a term about trying to attain the same high originally, "jam another dragon down the hole" is about injecting the "dragon". ("Feed the) Monkey" (on my back) is a heroin addict slang term, for not being able to quit and having to score daily. "Dig in search of China, White as dracula as I approach the bottom" is a pun for "China White" heroin.
@MrRearl It probably makes no sense because you're not/never have been a junkie... I used to be a heroin addict and this song makes perfect sense to me...
@petegloverson exactly. I was also addicted to Heroin and can relate to this song on every level. Man, I look back on some of the things I have done, and just question how I ever made it out alive! Chasing that dragon is not a fun thing. It becomes a burden and certainly leaves you completely powerless to the H. You will do anything to avoid being sick....or at least I would. I have been on 'done for 5 years and it has saved my life, yet still somewhat of a burden
How ironic... I wanted to listen to this song because I am back on anti-depressants (Zoloft) and the insomnia from it is SO bad. But what makes me feel weak and powerless is the fact that I know I can't live without them any more.
@Flamestar1989 Don't feel bad man. I'm on a similar antidepressant (Lexipro) and I got horrible insomnia from it. I can't live without them either. It's nothing to be ashamed of.
@amarendra420 because he/she should know this before listening to something so awesome...and since "it" didn't the awesomeness of who knows how many songs were lost and will never be found..:(
i post this cuz it reminds me of my drug use and how i feel like it has taken over me and slowly took away from me, i felt weak and powerless over them and felt like there was no way out of it, no way of coping with what damage i've done to myself...so i kept using, hoping each use would make me more numb and numb...a sartiling reminder of how people let things take control over them and how easy it is to feel weak and powerless over something...not just drugs, ANYTHING!
I remember 92.3 in Cleveland (Back when it was a good radio station) played it earlier than they were supposed to when it debuted. They were the first in the entire country to play it. :3
The song can be depressing. It's about being addicted to heroin. Not exactly a pleasant thing. The phrasing and words are what makes it beautiful. The expression of pain over being weak and powerless to it all. The desperate, ravenous feeling that comes with opiate addiction.
this album makes me wanna do some drugs again...i like some dubstep...i believe people are less likely to troll mainstream alternative music than say...deathmetal or indie or ambient
''We, need a scary... tunnel.... somethin' that'll really freak people out when they go through it! With like, bugs crawlin' across peoples' faces... and chickens getting their heads cut off...'' -Willy Wonka
@mdunct I believe that one day we will be able to live in a world were possesion Is a thing of the past. A place where people can hunt down there dreams, a world where everyone Is enjoying life to their full potential. A world where jobs are a thing of the past and our future Is based on hobbies and not work... A true world for the free. no more split nations just one world together In a desolete universe. a lass not everyone shares the same vision.
@andypmz07 I think, if presented that opportunity, most of us would take it. Those who appear to have it made have their own demons to deal with. I grew up upper middle class and can count the number of people I truly envy on one hand.
@shaddaielchai1 Ya it says Tilling my own grave to keep me Level, Jam another Dragon down the Hole, Dig into the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren one that pushes me along and leaves me so..... its about being an addict and your life running on the siren of drugs
I don't like the arrangement on this particular song, but the lyrics on this one, the outsider, the package, etc. mean a lot to us junkies, this whole album means a lot to me because it describes the experience so vividly/accurately and makes me reflective, although I love the sweet melodies of the previous album.
FWIW TOOL IS FUCKING FANTASTIC, Just as much if not more so.
@tnix80 very true,, i was a homeless and addicted to opiates for 4 years and this music kept my head up in tough times, its almost as if they understood where i was at that point in my life..... Which is strange to me because Maynard has never been adddicted to drugs....
@TheDylon424 I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot of things nobody knows about Maynard. I don't know why he would feel the need to lie about drug addiction, but he is a very private person and by listening to his music I would be very surprised if he hasn't had some problem with drugs/alcohol in the past.
@Gonzotabb I KNOW RIGHT!! so many of his lyrics describe addiction so first hand, i feel the same.. I've just watched a few interviews where he specifies only using heavy amounts of hallucinogens when he was younger.. But you make a good point....
I just found this band, and I can def. say I'll be buying their albums from here on out.

TheDylon424 4 months ago
@TheDylon424 I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot of things nobody knows about Maynard. I don't know why he would feel the need to lie about drug addiction, but he is a very private person and by listening to his music I would be very surprised if he hasn't had some problem with drugs/alcohol in the past.
Gonzotabb 4 months ago
@Gonzotabb I agree. I believe he respects what he got away from enough to make this beautiful music about it.
jorael1232 4 months ago
@Gonzotabb I KNOW RIGHT!! so many of his lyrics describe addiction so first hand, i feel the same.. I've just watched a few interviews where he specifies only using heavy amounts of hallucinogens when he was younger.. But you make a good point....

To the one saying this sounds manipulated... I doubt mynard would let anything he made be tarnished
