  • I just found this band, and I can def. say I'll be buying their albums from here on out.

  • @YouSeeMeTrollin1 Little late for that as they haven't produced an album in years but if you were going to buy one, buy this one, I'd say it's their best album out of the 3.

  • @D4rkScyth Oh well hah, thank you for the information. I'll have to check out their other albums then.

  • Best album cover ever.

  • Am I the only one who wants to touch that slug?

  • Youtube: REMOVE THE TOP COMMENT SECTION.

  • One of the most powerful songs in existence, 'nuff said

  • this song is very powerful, and should be even more so to anyone who has ever been addicted to drugs...specifically Opiates/H. I have 4 years sober and remember many times being weak, desperate, and in a bad place.

  • my friends having sex behind me for the first time, i decided he needs a good playlist to celebrate. APC couldn't be better for moments like this

  • Still listening to this in 2012!

  • *raping the repeat button

  • MAYNARD FUCKING RULEZ!!!!

  • @VR24 He does. But this is actually Billy's project. He was Tool's guitar tech and he and Maynard hung out alot while on the road and thats how Maynard came to be the voice for APC. So they both rule!

  • yep

  • the bass line...rediculously well done. clearly the best song ever written about heroin addiction.

  • "Tilling my own grave to keep me level" What an awesome line! This is true art!

  • 33 people dont know what music is......

  • This song leaves me speechless. It's just so beautiful :')

  • This is so beautiful and somber.

  • I'm pretty sure but does someone know if its Jordie White on bass in this song because it sounds very similar to the way he plays, but im not use if he left before this album came out.

  • The dislike bar, I dont see it.

  • @Chipawapa Having a dislike bar for this song would be like dividing by zero

  • @BBPhobia =34

  • @joewhatsit67 hmmm I wonder why??

  • i loooove this fkn song woooooo!!!

  • people who are getting all angry with Tool and APC must be desperate and ravenous

  • This will always be my favourite song..

  • "Jamming another dragon down the hole"

  • top quality music for the finest ears

  • I've listened to this song seven times and counting in the past half hour and I still love it. Phenomenal music and wonderful lyrics.

  • Highest rated comments, wtf?

  • 1:40

  • I remember the 1st time I heard this. It was the first song I heard by a perfect circle. I later bought the album. Then made several drastic life altering decisions for the better.

  • @cloudzaH I agree with you, to the tenth power! I cherish this album. It helped me get through some of the toughest times in recovery! Hence the album title, "The Thirteenth Step".

  • This is the most beautiful and accurate poetic depiction of what it's like to dance with the opiate.

  • a perfect circle and poets of the fall are the two bestest bands ever :D

  • fucking great i love apc

  • Did he just tell me to drag a dragon down a hole? 0_0

    Okay.

  • @JoelakaDamian "Jam another dragon down the hole": shoot up heroin. Just like "someone feed the monkey"; opiate addiction.

  • THUMBS UP if DailyAmy sent you here!

  • why do i not see any comments about this gorgeous bass playing?

  • @yomammaonastick they should have kept paz as their bassist.

  • @yomammaonastick because we are typeless after that boomy brilliance

  • @xelaAEK you sound like a gook, shut up

  • Story of my fucking life

  • The squash slug, so illusive, so mysterious....

  • When I listen to this song the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I feel like a great red dragon.

  • this is my song for when i have to be sober.....cuz i feel so weak and powerless:(

  • "Your words mean nothing to me. Save your precious breath. For soon my time will come. Empty as I am, shallow, rejected, and worthless. Pity I wont be there when you regret. Yet still you speak. I see it in your ever fading sheep-like eyes. Feeding on me, as though I am filling. Don't you dare look to me when the curtain falls. Only one thing left to do. Never forget." - Kane

  • @OmniscientMaelstrom what's this from?

  • @djr0mer014 An inner thought, was just thinking out loud as I was listening. - Kane

  • @OmniscientMaelstrom Mm. I love you, honey.

  • I love heroin. But it killed many of my friends and ruined my life.

  • @primatephreak Sounds like heroin's been a pretty lousy friend to you and everyone else... maybe it's time to wake up and smell the coffee?

  • @xlunabearx if it were only that easy. If youve never been there, you have no freakin clue. You may think you do, but you dont. Drug counslers dont even have a clue.....trust me

  • @12thpanzerHJ Unless that drug counselor happens to have been there...like me

  • .☮.¸¸.♪(¯`♥♫(♥♪(♥♫d)♥‿♥(b♫♥)♪♥)♫♥´¯)♪.¸¸.☮.

  • nevermind, thanks to everyone who explained the lyrics to me and werent condesending dicks about it =)

  • listening to A Perfect Circle just puts me in this mood, where my problems are forgotten and i can feel relaxed...and on a shitty day like today, that's all i could ever ask for

  • i saw these guys twice live in concert, and i like plenty of bands over A Perfect Circle...but they put on some of the best shows i ever seen and ive been to a LOT of concerts. they sound crystal clear and the props and lights they use is so surreal and beautiful. awesome awesome shows

  • okay, this song makes no sense, but yet i fucking love it, that tells you somthin folks

  • It makes sense, It uses metaphors to create analogys, The most common metaphor would be the monkey he mentions, By someone feed the monkey he's saying "I have a monkey on my back" wich is never really such a good thing and Wile I dig in search of (China White) as dracula as I aproach the bottom he gives referance to a drug. China White is heroin. Glad to see someone enjoying the music without having to analyze it though.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrRearl It probably makes no sense because you're not/never have been a junkie... I used to be a heroin addict and this song makes perfect sense to me...

  • @petegloverson exactly.

  • @petegloverson exactly. I was also addicted to Heroin and can relate to this song on every level. Man, I look back on some of the things I have done, and just question how I ever made it out alive! Chasing that dragon is not a fun thing. It becomes a burden and certainly leaves you completely powerless to the H. You will do anything to avoid being sick....or at least I would. I have been on 'done for 5 years and it has saved my life, yet still somewhat of a burden

  • How ironic... I wanted to listen to this song because I am back on anti-depressants (Zoloft) and the insomnia from it is SO bad. But what makes me feel weak and powerless is the fact that I know I can't live without them any more.

  • @Flamestar1989 Don't feel bad about that. I understand.

  • @WritingSchiozo101 Thank You :) I've been feeling much better today. Your Youtube channel is awesome btw x

  • @Flamestar1989 Don't feel bad man. I'm on a similar antidepressant (Lexipro) and I got horrible insomnia from it. I can't live without them either. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

  • One of the best songs off the album, imo.

  • wow just realized this whole album is drug addiction to recovery in order O.o

  • @Kudblythe3 BOOO!!! you suck!

  • @dandindds Why do you say that to him?

  • @amarendra420 because he/she should know this before listening to something so awesome...and since "it" didn't the awesomeness of who knows how many songs were lost and will never be found..:(

  • @dandindds I get what you're saying but still you shouldnt run people down, why not just explain that to him/her?

  • @dandindds haha its odd it took me this long to figure it out. seeing as how im a huge maynard fan.

  • @Kudblythe3 well the important thing is now you know! XD and we can rock the fuck out with all its pure glory!

  • i post this cuz it reminds me of my drug use and how i feel like it has taken over me and slowly took away from me, i felt weak and powerless over them and felt like there was no way out of it, no way of coping with what damage i've done to myself...so i kept using, hoping each use would make me more numb and numb...a sartiling reminder of how people let things take control over them and how easy it is to feel weak and powerless over something...not just drugs, ANYTHING!

  • Man a song i can relate to

  • I remember 92.3 in Cleveland (Back when it was a good radio station) played it earlier than they were supposed to when it debuted. They were the first in the entire country to play it. :3

  • The University of Santa Cruz fighting Banana Slugs represent!

  • The song can be depressing. It's about being addicted to heroin. Not exactly a pleasant thing. The phrasing and words are what makes it beautiful. The expression of pain over being weak and powerless to it all. The desperate, ravenous feeling that comes with opiate addiction.

  • @weakmindedidiot Not for me... This song lifts me, then gives me power... to use against my enemies.

  • @losangeleskid86 Hahaha!, I didn't realise Saruman was into APC.

  • Comment removed

  • This song is depressiing

  • this album makes me wanna do some drugs again...i like some dubstep...i believe people are less likely to troll mainstream alternative music than say...deathmetal or indie or ambient

  • @fedexmol Thanks guys for all the thumbs up :) You're awesome. Free sex anyone?

  • @fedexmol Im in!!

  • @fedexmol Only if you are wearing a cheap hooker outfit and I get to be spiderman so I can shoot my web all over your face and down your throat

  • JOIN US ON WALL STREET!!! ITS REVOLUTION AND ITS HAPPENING NOW!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!!

  • @mdunct REALLY????

  • @mdunct I believe that one day we will be able to live in a world were possesion Is a thing of the past. A place where people can hunt down there dreams, a world where everyone Is enjoying life to their full potential. A world where jobs are a thing of the past and our future Is based on hobbies and not work... A true world for the free. no more split nations just one world together In a desolete universe. a lass not everyone shares the same vision.

  • @andypmz07 I think, if presented that opportunity, most of us would take it. Those who appear to have it made have their own demons to deal with. I grew up upper middle class and can count the number of people I truly envy on one hand.

  • If Maynard started a religion, I would probably follow it since I believe he see the world with open eyes unlike most

  • i luv this song, cant stop listening XD

  • i hate searching for china white.

  • always the band that gets my every mood..

  • banana slug

  • Hellz Yeahh. I love this song, but whut is tha 'title' of tha other A Perfect Circle hits sumone?

  • ew gross, a bug---tuesday cleary.

  • ew gross, a bug---tuesday clear.

  • Awesome song, If you guys like this band you would def like this band i found out about called Avareous.

  • Only person in my school who knows who Tool or APC is...I'm literally the only one who listens to rock...

  • @DwellingsoftheWicked I was the same way when I was in high school, it just makes you appreciate APC and Tool a whole lot more.

  • Fucking love this song. It's phenomenal. It gives me goosebumps. ^_^

  • I get thumbs up by being honest and saying how I truly feel :)

  • its sad how im the only person in my school who knows A Perfect Circle :{

  • @MrJosephSlaughter that is sad lol

  • @MrJosephSlaughter that make pity wallow up inside me... What a shallow school you go to...

  • @MrJosephSlaughter That is sad! //: Are you in middle school? OO:

  • @MrJosephSlaughter same well only a few or mayb 2 ppl kno bout this band in my school or on this rez neway lol

  • tillin my own gravy cube'er a level

jamma nother dragon down a hole

    nice☺

  • @LordCorinth Im not sure thats what it says lol. more like tilling my own grave to keep it level or something along those lines.

  • @shaddaielchai1

    its totally correct! XD

  • @shaddaielchai1 Ya it says Tilling my own grave to keep me Level, Jam another Dragon down the Hole, Dig into the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren one that pushes me along and leaves me so..... its about being an addict and your life running on the siren of drugs

  • The song is awesome but I'm going to be honest; the video creeped the hell out of me :D

  • @rahatatat if you think thats bad try watching tool's "stinkfist."

  • The bass in this song is just awesome. Awesome.

  • I don't like the arrangement on this particular song, but the lyrics on this one, the outsider, the package, etc. mean a lot to us junkies, this whole album means a lot to me because it describes the experience so vividly/accurately and makes me reflective, although I love the sweet melodies of the previous album.

FWIW TOOL IS FUCKING FANTASTIC, Just as much if not more so.

  • @tnix80 very true,, i was a homeless and addicted to opiates for 4 years and this music kept my head up in tough times, its almost as if they understood where i was at that point in my life..... Which is strange to me because Maynard has never been adddicted to drugs....

  • @TheDylon424 I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot of things nobody knows about Maynard. I don't know why he would feel the need to lie about drug addiction, but he is a very private person and by listening to his music I would be very surprised if he hasn't had some problem with drugs/alcohol in the past.

  • @Gonzotabb I agree. I believe he respects what he got away from enough to make this beautiful music about it.

  • @Gonzotabb I KNOW RIGHT!! so many of his lyrics describe addiction so first hand, i feel the same.. I've just watched a few interviews where he specifies only using heavy amounts of hallucinogens when he was younger.. But you make a good point....

  • To the one saying this sounds manipulated... I doubt mynard would let anything he made be tarnished

  • Tool ROCKS!!!!!

  • @TheDemonAnjel yeah but this ain't tool. the only thing the same about them is the singer.

  • all the songs sound the same.... music company manipulated puked up shit.

  • @suckitup1983 They're supposed to sound similar.....

Try to piece a story about a relapse.

And I think they did a nice job.

  • 1:58 my favorite part!
