  • An infinitely short period of time? Lol. That's not only untrue, but theoretically impossible. Every period of time can be cut into two parts.

    Good story other than that.

  • last pic he had a United nations had on with flag and the all seen eye.... eh..

  • It's still mysterious, god damn it! Showing us laserbeams and bleaching solutions is all good, but how does it WORK? What's the theory? I am no wiser now than I was before.

  • How do companies mass produce this?

  • I like it... I'd scare my neighbours, make them think the neighbourhood is haunted...

  • Let's get the rating up!!!!

  • Lol something called bleach

  • Wow!! Get rid of that music. I'm here to learn, not to be entertained.

  • great video, why is there over 200 idiots that hit the dislike button... what is wrong with you people, how do u not like holograms...

my guess is that 200 semi-retards probably thought this was fake...

  • This is what our universe might be :D

  • Comment removed

  • How the hell is this rated 2 stars?

  • Nice discovery 4 ever :D

  • thank you. have not seen that explained in visual details before.

  • nice and interesting video! :)

  • so how can we see this technology be used in the future? I know people can buy holograms for their homes but what other ways can this technology be used as a consumer product? The video hologram he was showing at the end makes me believe this could be used somehow for the future.

  • Look up hologrpahic hard drives, they were supposed to be released last year, they will 1$ Hoplograpic storage cards will hold 120,000 gigs of data.

  • Technically, 12 nanoseconds wouldn't be an "infinitely short period of time". It's only a 12 nanoseconds short period of time! =P

  • OK, so I see that a hologram uses an interference pattern somehow, but how does that same interference pattern allow light to be reflected in such a way as to produce the original image? I know that with ordinary film, the surface reacts to the intensity of incoming light (getting darker the more light there is--and hence what you get is a negative), but how do you get a piece of film to reflect directionally asymmetric light? Is there something special about holographic film that allows this?

  • Holograms can be done

  • Excellent explanation...clear voice and instructions.

    Thank you...

  • Ah! I looked straight at the green laser. I'm blind! That is cool.

  • I think computers in the future will be hologram 3d technology like in the movie The Time Machine (2002) when the guy pops up in a glass frame giving guy peirce information online etc.

  • thats amazing!

  • I wonder if its possible if they make those same holograms like in the Star wars Movie

  • those are projected and arent supposed to be 2D that looks 3D, holograms are 2D that look like 3D

those kinds of holograms arent possible

  • Not yet.

  • exactly

  • the second is a solution called bleach? he says it like we have no idea what bleach is?

  • The bleach solution in the video contains

    1 liter DI water

    4 milliliters concentrated sulphuric acid

    4 grams potassium dichromate

not all bleach solutions are the same :)

  • this is sweet...i just made one like this in my physics class!

  • very informative... helps to explain a lot of aero space

  • thats a long process for making holograms like that... tha was fairly interesting...

  • dyslexia is when letters appear out of order, not misspelled jack ass.

  • suck my balls

  • wait... wtf... the film is a hologram by itself?

  • that was really cool :) well made

  • spacecowboy22, It has to be rinsed in bleach, to remove the remanet of emulsifier, then rinsed by - yes - water (to remove any bleach left so it won't have any chance to eat emulsion that's already set.)

  • "and then its washed in a solution called Bleach" wow never heard of bleach before...

"and then its rinsed in clear water" WATER??? CLEAR??? GET OUT OF TOWN! lol nice vid

  • xD lol

  • Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope...

  • Quit whittling, everyone. You can create it yourself, it's basically a photograph, only with laser energy being used like a flash - I have been to holography class, so it prove that you can make it! It's a tricky setup, though - if you didn't get it perfectly, it's because you're farting (the vibrations just mess the detail up) - it's simple as that. So, what's next, optical holography?

  • zwanphony i stupid moron this is not a fake video photoshoping a whole clip is nearly imposiable and if u can it turns out like a japinese movie converted into english

  • nope holograms are real

they are quite old in fact. and very common, you can make one yourself if you know how, check wikipedia

  • That is an OLD one......

  • how its made is a fairly cool show. but they need to have more interesting stuff like this on more often

  • obviously a cool trade but thought I was in for luke skywalker shit

  • Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope...

  • ROFL

  • Lol, Random

  • of course this is real how ever it's on a flat surface the hologram projected on air isn't possible yet want to know why research it...i'll make it possible one day

  • thats cool

  • Are there any holograms that can be projected on air? outside the film? Kinda like star wars... sorry if I sound stupid, but ya never know.

  • No, it always requires a transparent surface. The only exception would be some kind of fog to receive projected images from different directions. Star Wars is fiction. You did know that... right?

  • Good old How its Made!

  • You can make simple holographic pictures at home, but you have to use the laser to view it as well as make it. You can get a helium-neon laser, some lenses and other optics, some film, and build your own table for a few hundred.

  • The show is "How Its Made" (Like DAGman27 said) and anyway, this isnt fake. Saw it on the discovery channel so.... And zwanphony, how can u use Photoshop to make a whole part of a show?

  • Ehhm, no it´s not fake, i have one of there holograms, it´s a smal dragin on a round film, and it´s just like in the video, tha object´s don stick out, it looks like they are behind the film.

  • Morons! You wouldn't know fake if it bit you in the ass. Do some research before opening your mouth.

  • Learn to take a joke

  • ...and not be such a "moron"

  • even the guy speaking looks fake. i dunno, i'm going with my instinct on this one...FAKE.

  • Sorry, you lose on this one. It's real. You may want to check your local library before calling something fake.

  • clearly a FAKE.

    prolly a photoshopped video.

  • Ever saw a hologram sticker? AMD.. IBM?

  • ...holograms were invented over 50 years ago

  • Tottally fake... I can't believe people think tis is real

  • Have you ever actually opened a book?

  • You didn't get much education... did you? Do you get out of the house much? You can buy these in novelty shops. Clearly an idiot.

  • This isn't FAKE. It's "How it's Made" and thats not David Schwimmer :|, it's Mark Tewksbury, some former Canadian Olympic swimmer (I think). Why he was chosen to host this show I'll never know.

  • Is that David Schwimmer?

  • its discovery who had put the music on so cant remove it whitout removing some of the voice

  • Interesting and 'illuminating' :o), but it would be improved greatly if you cut out the dreadful music

  • HAH! "illuminating"! You should go into comedy. Seriously. Best joke ever.

  • Seriously man, how do you come up with this?
