Being a 911 dispatcher for about 6 months now, I've already had my fair share of events. It's about keeping on your toes and listening fit anything and everything on the phone and radio, both at the same time sometimes! Just remember, the cops are important, but having a dispatcher that knows what's going on ensures that officer gets help. It's a team system. Just remember that the next time you call 911.
Absolutely haunting. Those who speak disparagingly about officers are often those who live life or were raised on the wrong side of the law. For the rest of us, let this be a reminder of the fact that when we are in danger or have been wronged, there is help from those dedicated to protect & serve their communities, counties & states, may they be safe & get home after every shift to their loved ones. God bless the families of officers who paid the ultimate price to protect innocent citizens.
Hey Sarge, I wanted to say thank you for posting this it really lets people know how dangerous this job is. I had a personal project of putting together a law enforcement tribute video. I don't know if you've seen it. I used your clip to pay homage and i've gotten a lot of great reviews.
If you really are a cop then you know what it's like to be second guessed by people who weren't there. You don't know if you could've got to your gun in time, and more likely than not you wouldn't have been able to. If your dept. has hands on defensive tactic trainings like ours does see if you can get your gun out of your holster while someone's punching you in the face, I bet your hands go up to protect your face. (been in law enf. for over 11 years)
Oh Jesus, people like you amaze me. I see it all the time. People who say they fought in Iraq on the war videos and they say they know what fighting is about, they have killed people. They have shot civilians. Yadayadayada. I've never spoke to a real veteran of a war or someone who has gone through a traumatic event and them straight out tell me about it. They either don't talk about it or you have to ask. People who really risked it all don't enjoy talking about it.
let me tell you idoits out there, when you hear a fellow officer calling for help, picture your brother or sister on the phone screaming for help while your on the line.
it's easy to sit behind a computer in your moms basement and throw insults. Tread lightly little man someday, somebody might stomp a mudhole in your ass and walk it dry.
Yeah. But with the EMS agency I work for, we don't use 10- Codes. We use Codes. Like- "Code 5 Alpha", or "Code Six Sam", "Code 1 Vega Sam Ida 7 ", "Code 1 Clear", "Code Whiskey Tango Hotel". There is a whole lot more. We use them if we're transporting to the Hospital, or if we're clear from the Hospital. Or, if we have been on scene for a certain amount of time, the dispatcher will say- "Medic 10, Code 21". Which means- "Medic 10, Advise Status".
For my sheriff's department officer down would be 10-100 and emergency message is 10-33, so the dispatcher would come over the radio saying, "10-33 10-100, repeat 10-100," then they would say the location.
For our dispatchers and patroling officers or detectives, if an officer needs immediate assistance we have a button on our portable radio we can push and it sends out a short hi lo tone and cuts off all other transmissions so we can immediataly call out for help.
Also, all of our troopers and detectives are given Motorola HF1250s with an optional shoulder mic. I never knew they had the feature.
Our code here is 10-33. If that is called, you will get every officer in the city to your location right away. I heard it a little while ago while I was off duty.. and just like this video it sent chills down my spine.. and I got a huge pit in my stomach.
Im a dispatcher in Oklahoma Our emergency code is 11-99 and we hold tha air till some one gets there ive heard it twice the 1yf ive been here and its no fun at all.
"officer Down" worst words ever! my mom is a police officer in los angeles and she was shot 3 times by a ms-13 gang member and we got the call at home about 3am and the police officer came and got us. These videos just send chills through me just thinking that it happens every single day.
That is the absolute worst call you can get! some can say, "CODE 99"! Others can't say anything! All you want to do is get there and help your fellow Officer!!! Criminals will always LOOSE!!!
In Sweden, radio codes are very rarely used, but it gives every officer in town goose bumps when they call for backup due to violent suspects.
Not long ago a patrol was taking fire in an apartment building in Downtown Stockholm and they screamed in the radio as they were running down the stairs to go for cover "Taking fire! Taking fire!! Need assistance immediately!!!"
Two minutes later, at least three RMP's were at the scene and suspect was taken into custody. Nobody was harmed.
RavenFreedom you have no concept of what the law enforcement people and emergency services do everyday just for ordinary folk like you.You have the nerver to say such things and then do a ROFLMAO. You and your big interent mouth are probably the first person with brown shorts any time there is trouble.

Notice no one talking shit about cops in here
WONDER WHY ?
Maybe because this officer was
DOING HIS REAL JOB
protecting citizens from violent psychos,
Not interfering with Constitutional rights!
But
If the bitch on the phone would have had a gun,
don't you think this would've ended quicker?
We can police ourselves !

If I were the cop - you would have heard - "officer needs help" followed by multiple shots "Um never mind the officer took care of business!"
asuwish0000 2 years ago
You don't have a clue what your talking about. "if you were a cop" Try actually being a cop before you make stupid comments like that.

I didn't say "if I were a cop" I said "IF I WERE THE COP" meaning if I were THAT cop.
I was a police officer for 5 years - used deadly force and am still here to make a POST!

Well Sweden is different from North America. Here in the US or Canada there would of been far more then just three RMPs sent. more like fifty!
