Installing homebrew on your wii is not illegal. Downloading games that you already own is not illegal (his burnt disk rested atop his Mario Galaxy Case). If we base our ethics on our criminal system, there is nothing unethical about this video.

Nintendo for quite a long time now refuses to actually make Wii usable as media center device due to its fears for the external HDD or the new SD functionality would be used for piracy. It CAN be a media center FAR better than the other two because of the point device (wiimote), it's ridiculous that you don't even see that. If anything the other two should not have been media centers, they're clunky. Wii's powers also is enough to output even 720p video. It is a fun machine that goes unused, it's a $250 brick bust most Nintendo fanboys like it but that's only because they were never rational human beings to begin with.

If I market my new product as immensely superior than my previous product and use it as an excuse to release it in the first place, the factual misinformation that I spread would be a case of criminal offense. This will be the end of the Homebrew Channel as we know it. Now with an ISO loader Nintendo has a real reason to jump down our throats about piracy. Before it was just chipped Wiis and pirated shop channel software. But now virtually every Wii owner will have easy access to this app and if nothing is done this will greatly decrease the Wii's profits.

My guess is that Nintendo will now make every attempt to block the Homebrew channel.

Anyone else have some views on the impact this may have?

Bull shit, there is a very easy fix to all of this mess, just treat this program like what it is, a piracy tool, and ban it from being hosted on any of the homebrew sites (Tehskeen, Wiibrew, Etc.) That way the people who are going to use it for piracy (like myself) will have to resort to torrent sites and other shady venues like always. Problem solved.
