Flat rate taxes only serve to hit the poor the hardest and are grossly unfair. However, it is folly to believe that we can continue to churn up the Earth's natural resources without consequence.
What I would like to see is a sliding scale where those who carelessly pollute (4x4 drivers, those who don't recycle, industry etc...) are levied with penalties, whereas those who choose to live environmentally conscious are rewarded with incentives.

I know the background of the Kool Keith and the CD, I guess I miss interpreted your comment about record sales. I understand that Keith got fucked over.
And I am friends with talented emcees that are at various stages in their careers and success, so I have an understanding what some of the common motivations are and that they need money to put food on the table.

Don't be melodramatic. It is unlikely the musicians that complain about fraud are worried about putting food on their tables. More likely, they have millions of dollars and just want another million. The rest of us don't make money from making music so I don't see how anyone would depend on it for food. It may be protected by law but that doesn't make it everyone's problem when a millionaire musician doesn't make the extra 2 bucks. They can complain for themselves.

Okay, this album was produced by some freaks from Austria. Keith originally recorded the lyrics over 5 years ago. Some time since, he must have given permission for their use [whether drunk, wanting cash, whatever..] No one knows if it was a once off fee or a royalty %. These guys then produced the whole album from these lyrics. Although its quite a well produced pop record it doesnt really fit[gross understatement] with Keiths style and it pretty much flopped.

It's true that global warming cannot be explained by human causes alone, however nor can it be explained by natural causes either. Modern scientific models are very accurate in accommodating both factors, and they consistently show that only the human factor of upsetting the natural balance of carbon can attribute to the temperature rises we are witnessing today.

Green taxes are an issue which are responsible (imo) for the rise in cynicism toward government approach in tackling climate change. Steak is good, but two pounds of beef = one pound of methane. Commercial cattle farming for beef consumtion produces over twice the ozone-destroying gas than automobiles. Methane is 2.5 times as potent as carbon-dioxide. Eating less commercial beef (cutting down by half) will help tremendously if you are concerned about the environment. No need to stop... Just slow down and have some brocoli raised in healthy soil with leaves (not manure) for compost. :-) Yumm!
