Haha! Poor John! The way he keeps cutting in, and I always laugh at the last 2: Chopped liver and poison dart-- I mean, raisin tart! Sounding so desperate - then he looks so relieved at the end! Oh yes, John Lawless is my favorite character in this classic Disney movie!
This is my favorite scene from this wonderful Disney film. Such a delightfully clever little "cat" fight between the Drexels and the Dukes. "The Happiest Millionaire" is real masterpiece from Walt Disney. I don't understand why it doesn't receive more attention as a real classic film.
I love this song! It shows the opinion of those of Old Money had for the Nouveau Riche and vice versa. At this time they were always competing as the Old Money believe the Nouveau Riche to be those who would blow through their money as soon as they have it and do not know the way the rich are supposed to behave while the newly rich wanted to show that they had just as much propiety as the old money.
This song--and Bye-yum-pum-pum--are my favorites from this flick...but I have to say the whole movie is kind of a sickening paean to wealth and class snobbery, isn't it?
Who else thinks that Mrs. Duke's blue dress might have been pretty if not for that stupidly placed bow?

"Oh, you mean the New York Telephone directory?" At the risk of being old meme, the only appropriate response is "PWN3D."

This scene reminds me of Oscar Wilde, where the characters insult each other with grace and finesse.
Gladys Cooper was the ideal mother of Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. And during the 1920s, she was the most popular stage actress in the world.
