I'm pretty sure it is illegal. They are in 5th grade (or somewhere around there) and probably don't know better. But then again, they demonstrate a lot of maturity for being 5th graders.

@whitehedwig They might just call themselves cousins and not actually BE cousins since in asian cultures anyone around your age in the family is called a cousin even if they are distantly related (There are people I call cousin who I don't even know if I'm actually related to by blood).

I think the real deal is that it was an informal childhood promise that Meilin wanted to keep and the parents are just indulging her until she gets older and realizes that realistically it's not gonna happen

@whitehedwig Their not engaged. Meiling got Xiaolang to ''promise'' to her marry her when they were like, 5. Yes, their blood related however.
