When you say you scrap do you refine your metals or melt and sell? Also, be careful with the Englehard bars. A rep at the refinery I take my PMs to told me a story of one guy that for years drilled holes in thesebars filling them with lead and then plugged it. He accumulated thousands and thousands of ounces doing this. Many of these bars are still floating around. Anyway thanks for sharing your story. Very insperational.
I would love to do this but I don't think I have an inkling of where to begin :/ especially since money is very tight for me, and I don't think there is any gold or silver found naturally in the ground where I live: Wyoming.
You don't Have to lose your job to tap your 401k. I took out a loan against half my value. Paid off credit card debt and bought silver with the rest. The money I saved by not having those credit card payments was the same as my monthly loan repayment was so I didnt notice any differnce in my monthly budget. Since then silver has doubled. Best descision I ever made.
Metal is secure, yes, but old people and women (among others) are insecure about having that kind of stuff lying around, I live in a country with almost no guns and I've had x-girlfriends afraid to keep half their rent hidden at home... good vid tho.
You need an atrocious amount of start up capital, no? I do the same thing with silver and I'm broke a lot of the time, I make decent money and have silver, but I can't keep it rolling, you need like 50K to get that going.
Question for you: In your video you mentioned that you took your paycheck and bought some junk gold, or jewellry. Where do you buy junk gold? Where might I be able to do the same in my area? Recommendations?
Also, once you have enough gold, where do I find someone to melt it down?
Trust me, tobacco will not hold its value if things get bad. People just won't pay more than maybe 2-3x what it was previously going for before they just stop using. People stop in prison when they ban tobacco even though there are huge amounts on the black market.
hi, i really enjoy your videos. i am an amateur gold prospector, where i live there is gold dust in the sands and gravel by the river outside of town. i am looking into buying a desert fox(spiral gold panning machine, costs about 200-300 dollars. a small investment on my part that will make me an ounce a day in gold. i think this is idea is a good one. what do you think?
tabacco is such a waste of recources when youre talking about a survival situation. I'd MUCH rather have more food instead of all that tabacco. That is pretty riduculous, not many people even smoke anymore so i dont see the point
@mustangjake2073 I think one of the things which make gold special among other metals is that it is very soft and so can be easily manipulated into different shapes and does not rust easily.
Concerning tax on ammo that is a definite, but what really is going to happen is that they are going to require insurance on your fire arms like auto insurance for you car. That alone is going to drive out gun ownership. Sneaky way to get around the 2nd amendment.
Great series. Very informative and good to see someone has the balls to start a business like this up.
Few questions though: What kind of volume are you buying a week in oz? What do you do with jewelery if there are stones? Do you pay extra for the stones or do you give the item a miss? Also do you hedge or do you have a quick turnaround time to limit the wild fluctuations in the price of gold and silver?
yeah I checked the freebies around here and it's all dirt or rocks to something that can't be used. I did manage to get two rifles through the years. Need to stock up on ammo though.
Yeah I really need to jump into more ammo. I'm pretty sure an ammo tax is just around the corner. They won't take our guns. They will tax it to death.
I don't call a bb gun , bb's and co2 a weapon and ammo by any means. You need to spend a little cash on something a little more real. I'm not busting your chops just trying to lay it out nice and clear.
I would never show any ammo stash and my gun safe. Watch out for homeland security. Everyone should get 5 imitation bb guns for each real gun they have for just the intimidation factor.
A lot of grocery store owners during the LA riots were not armed with real guns. 1 guy shooting a shotgun in the air with 5 friends holding copy guns will disperse a crowd easily. A show of power is scarier than the actual strength. :P
More drying out than stale. If it didn't start drying in 2 months, I would triple my stock. Drying is still smokeable. Most can't tell the difference.
just throw it in the freezer. It'll keep it fresh. If you can't freeze. after first cigar throw a small piece of raw potato in the box and that will act like a small humidor. Moisture will return to the rest.
Anyone in those fields will make money in the next few years. The escapism industry. With no jobs around, massage parlors will be popping up everywhere.
americans need to learn how to hustle again (in a positive sense), this is how people survive in china, brazil etc. lets make this country great again thru the entrepreneurial spirit!
I'm learning more from mexicans and blacks in my area than in my years in school. To them, the depression started in the 60's and getting worse every year.
Excellent vid! I am def doing the same thing when I get laid off! I will cash in my 401K for gold. I need to find refiners in NJ/ NYC area. My wife got invited to a gold party where these girls will sell their jewelry to this guy. I wanted to be his competition by doubling his offers. I am sure he is ripping these girls off by buying them at half of spot price.
Those poor people panning for gold having to do it every single day all day long just to stay alive! And the child whos grandmother beat bcs she didn't want her around bcs she couldn't feed her.....my heart simply broke.
There are videos with people in Zimbabwe laughing about having gold instead of paper currency years ago. Same as America. I have hope though. I see urban farms popping up all over LA.
Good luck to your new found freedom. Unfortunately I have not found any reliable sites for urban miners. Hopefully the gold bugs in youtube can start this business and share ideas and network referrals all across the globe.

You can't buy a house, clothes or water with food. It's very hard at the very least, but you can with precious metals.

How come they don't take silver for food in Zimbabwe?
efreeme7 2 years ago
While gold dust is plentiful in dirt, silver is very scarce and are usually found only in lodes.
At some point in human history, silver should outperform gold just based on scarcity and when people wake up to the health uses.

1. bout 20 oz
2. I throw out big stones and melt the smalls.
3. stones are a way to sell a 100 dollar ring for 1000 dollar.
4. I have weighted stones for comparison when buying. minus the weight in stones.
5. quick turnaround and hedge whatever i don't need to survive.

Great video. Question for you. Would you also store copper pennies and Nickels?? I've read of people loading up on nickels for their metal content.
dbztiki 2 years ago
I store all my loose change in buckets. Year's worth of change = $1500 face value but yielded $2500 on metal content.
mustangjake2073 2 years ago
I've been looking up on nickel currently at $4.35 a pound. But it seems our government has made it illegal to melt and nickel. Any insight on this?

Refiners tend to ignore government. How can they prove that a lump of copper came from pennies and not pipes?
