The fz6 does not have the r6 motor. fz6 motor is a 5 valve lower compresion and less aggresive cam = 98 hp. r6 motor 4 valve higher compresion and aggressive cam higher revs and 135 hp.
@HailUnc33 If you mean by having different gear ratios in the trans and different heads and different fuelinjection but the same crank and pistion size then ya
@HailUnc33 Hate to burst ur bubble but my 07 FZ6 is a 20 valve motor 5 valves per cylinder. (just had head work done) and the cams are less aggresive than a r6 and the heads do not flow as good as a r6 till you have a lot of work done to them. the machine shop i took my bike to said that a r6 head would not fit my bike they would have to mill my head to flow better. they are differant motors. but it does not really matter the fz6 if a nice little bike.
@runions79 Are you sure you aren't thinking of the FZ1/R1? those are 20 valve/ 5 valve per cylinder motors but to my knowledge the FZ6/R6 has never had a 20 valve motor.
@HailUnc33 my bike is a 07 fz6 last week i got my head back from the machine shop it had 20 valves when i sent it off and had 20 valves when i got it back so yes i am not thinking of the bigger bikes all the info i have on the fz6 if from my bike and the machine shop. I asked them about the rest of the motor and i was told that baseckly the r6 and fz6 blocks are the same but the dowl pins are in differant spots thats why i could not put a r6 head on my bike.
