  • we have no cake stand (that three pronged thingy she used). I guess I'll make one from bamboo skewers and some wiring of some sort...lol.

  • hello cookingisland! is this the same as the 500 gram pack of sponge cake flour found in the Asian food/Chinese market? Its a Rooster brand (says made in Australia) and all the vanilla flavour, baking powder, emulsifiers, etc are mixed in the flour. just add wet ingredients: eggs, oil, water etc. I am in New Zealand and we don't have cake flour. Otherwise I would have made one from scratch. I found a mix but half is written in Chinese.

  • an irish sponge cake mix is 4 eggs 4 ounzes caster sugar (super fine sugar)and 4 ounzes self raising flour and a little vanilla extract,,,,,beat the eggs and sugar together on hi speed in kitchen aid mixer until light a creamy add the vanilla just before switching off mixer, then fold in the flour in the figure of 8,then turn into 2,8inch pans and bake at 200 degrees centagrade for 12 to 15 mins and cool..fill with strawberry jelly and cream yum!!!check out my video on it!!!!

  • i made a mistake when baking with the spongecake mix (which was before watching your video). I added melted butter in the middle of the beating process (which i beat about 12 mins with my old standing beater) , in the end my cake appears dense.... this is because i add the butter too early?

Does the state of the butter affect the recipe (with premix only)?? my butter is melted to liquid state, not soften.. does it matter?

Butter will taste better than corn oil?

  • *continue with my qns! i have alot!

At one attempt i tried to beat the eggs first to a stabilised batter into a ribbon state, then i add in the flour and butter. the baked cake appears to have extreme low ''elasticity'' . So easy to break apart! Is it cos of the ribbon state batter? Or generally the premix does not require any complex procedure? just beat everything together???

some other qns: if i were to bake with individual ingredients, do we use baking powder or soda or none??

  • I dont exactly know what you did but it was fun to watch. It became a really nice spongecake.

    Thanks for sharing.:)

  • hey, better to use cups or tbsp as a measurement, we dont have weiging scale at home pls

    thanks

  • Sponge cake pre-mix comes in specially packaged form, normally you just need to add a couple of eggs and some water then simply beat everything up for 10 mins or so and place the mixture into a preheated oven. At the end of the baking time, you would get a perfectly baked sponge cake. Good for those who does not know much about baking. No need to add sugar, butter/oil etc. So take my advice don't try this receipe. Also pre-mixed sponge cake flour cost 2 to 3 times the price of normal flour.

  • guys this is a bad video to follow......dont follow her....this is the worst sponge cake recipe ever.....go watch vahchef,,,,hes the best

  • no sugar??

  • lol anybody who isnt chinese...would have a hard time trying to make out wad she's saying xD Chinese-Asian accent!! lol

  • Spongemix also include baking powder and sugar?

  • it is funny how she's talking and my mom can make that cake in green color i luv it

  • sorry bt hard to understand wat ur sayin...

  • you should put your liquids in the bowl first, then you dont have to waste time by mixing it by hand and just put it on the mixer for a 1 min and then scrape the bowl down, and mix it on high speed. you made a premix look very complicated

  • what is sponge mix ?

  • grams for the liquid?

    9 numbers?

other than that this is a great video ignore the haters you are just showing a video of what you do so ignaore the P.S your accent isn't that bad XD
