Cats react to Sonic Boom from Space Shuttle Discovery

Serious booms there. Not your more usual low, deep thuds.  Those are sharp cracks! Is that the normal STS sound? Or maybe it's just that you were very close to the source?

The Shuttle (depending on whether it's landing on 33 or 15) goes almost directly over the house.  I'm about 6 miles, as the crow flies, from the Shuttle Landing Facility (runway, etc).... not that that matters much anymore.

The TV display he's watching give just two "pops", but the real booms are devastatingly loud. It's no wonder the cats shat themselves. I would like to know how far from this house the shuttle was when it boomed.

You had to know the shuttle was coming home or you would get the crap scared out of you if you lived with in 100 miles of the cape I live in Port St. Lucie FL about 78 miles south of Cape Canaveral

@mjjmover854 It always rattled the windows in my house, and literally made my minivan rock back and forth (I was sitting in it one day when the shuttle came in and I felt the van rock). So yes, it does do that. There's absolutely no mistaking the sonic booms.
