  • Heard this song a few hours ago for the very first time! Instant favorite!!!

  • Love these guy's. Back when times were good.

  • The thumbnail looked like it belonged on a Gibson novel.

  • True talent like this was lost during the backwash of the 80's, this was a cool cruze and booze song.

  • best track that RUSH never made :-)

  • @0611dean

Aaaeeey, That's right. Including the groups Yes and The Police.

  • Makes me wonder, do the outfield feel screwed? if not they should. pretty sad that such a great song went so unnoticed for so long!!!

  • Our loss...your gain...USA.

  • @TheDazeOfOctober That this happens (seems to happen A LOT!), is testament to the idea that the radio stations (and MTV) didn't play this in 1989. Sad, as this also shows how the music business doesn't necessarily promote the music that people want to hear.

  • 444 4

  • @cpabrandon. Yes, and it is disturbing.

  • This also to Kathy..

  • why the fuck is rihanna on the side. fuck of bitch i wanna listen to music from when i was born bitch not see your fuugly face.

  • This song and album fueled my college days. If I could have worn out my CD of Voices of Babylon, I would have. Like WMHamby said, a WAY overlooked album with great tracks from top to bottom. Sadly, as MTV changed to more 'special features,' bands like The Outfield who depended on TV exposure to lure fans had seek new frontiers, none of which resulted in greener pastures. To The Outfield, I thank you for lending inspiration to my life. To those unaware of this band, I say pick up this album!

  • Melhor musica do "The Outfield"

a queridinha "your love" é muito boa també, porém "voices of babilon@ é perfeita

a melodia e principalmente a letra, fantasticas, uma das melhores musicas

do espetacular ano 80, tope 10 facil daquela época

  • gracias por subir el video, está impecable esta canción

  • music like this will never be compare to the bubblegum shit music of today music today sounds like Rap because it all sounds crap. The best era's in music the 70's and the awsome 80's

  • @SHS854EVER - funnily enough, when we were listening to this back then, our folks would say THIS was bubblegum :)

  • I think the poetry in their lyrics what made us fall in love$

  • There were only a few songs of theirs that were not my favorites BUT The Outfield NEVER had a bad song. Everything they recorded is gold.

  • i just love this song :3

  • this was the out fielid at its best spring of 1989 heard it during my senior year a forgotten but great band

  • heard this on sirius this morning. o so rare!

  • Such an underrated band... saw them live and, as a musician, was very pleased at how tight they were, from the harmonies to the changes. Flawless! Wish I could see them again!

  • Always loved this song. The lyrics are really haunting; I admit I have little idea what they are talking about, but I've always loved the line "chasing rainbows that are painted black or white" at 0:55. This album doesn't have a bad track on it; shame it wasn't more popular.

  • One of the Outfields best songs and video.

You rarely hear this song on the radio, a true lost gem.

    Thank you for posting video.

  • great song

  • This is one of the tunes I must crank and sing at the top of my lungs whenever I hear it.

  • @shack8110 you got that rite brother, i do the same.....really a great and catchy song .

  • great tune and still this band will always be great and along with the awsome 80's

  • This band was underrated.

  • the best song that RUSH never made ;-)

  • because of the pictures does the song have social significance? At one point there was an image of Jesus

  • @smsorour I always thought it was about civilization and the roots of the modern world and society. But I may be wrong. :)

  • Wish they'd re-release this song,.. one of their best, IMHO.

  • Awesome song by an amazing band. probably my favorite song from them.

  • I looove this tune!

  • Great band, saw them at El Salvador on a very special concert that almost get ruined by a terrible thunder storm.

  • The Outfield hit #25 in Billboard, 5-27-89. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • this is an important song for a myriad reasons,

  • SIMPLEMENTE UNOS MAESTRASOS OUTFIELD JUNTO CON PHILL COLLINS Y MARK KNOPFLER SON GENIOS DE NUESTRA ERA EN LA MUSICA EN SERIO

  • Simply amazing.

  • I remember this being played on Greater London Radio in their native UK, but sadly to no avail. For whatever reason, the British public never 'got' the Outfield.

  • A very "steampunk" video! Great song, I had completely forgotten about it.

  • A brilliant, shining pop classic. That rare pop track that never once loses momentum and never once strays too far from its catchy riffs and hooks. The guitar is great, and that doubling of the voices in the chorus is exactly the right touch for the energetic and reverent feel of the song. <3 <3 <3

  • I was a kid in the 60's remembering the Beatles onslaught and the freakish Monterey Pop Festivals (Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, etc live on forever), HOWEVER in the 80's there were a few bands that caught my attention. The Outfield is definately one, not so much for their instrumental prowess, but their spirit screams out. This song is one of many but is it one of the few non-love songs they ever wrote? I love it.

  • great songs brings good memories. this is one of them.

  • I still have this tape. I'll never get rid of it. I was soooo lucky to be a kid in the 80s. YES! I did say tape. LOL!

  • the OutField was one of the greatest groups hot band in the 1980's

  • Love that guitar.

  • @navycop73 one of my fav parts of the song too along with that xylophone sounding instrument

  • Wow! Haven't heard this since not a year or two after it came out I would guess. WOOEEE! Memories are hittin me! LOL

  • 1 Dislike. Damn!

  • I have good memories of this song. I was 23. Awww the good old days.....

  • i just have a question vevo is all about britney and gaga? (fuck vevo)

  • This song is histroric and way underrated. It always has been. What a fucking shame.

  • 1989 extraordinaria

  • Way overlooked by radio and MTV. This song is just magic.

  • @wmhamby I actually never heard this song until I poked around Outfield songs, on YouTube. Excellent song! Very nice flowing melody and instrumentation; especially the drums.

  • I have always felt that this was their best song, not Say It Isn't So or Your Love.

  • @Soxpert John Spinks grew into a true songwriter with this album!

  • @LDRNOVA are loss..your gain.

  • A really good song I always liked. Comes across at first like a light pop song, but it's not--a pretty heavy number really. Very true that there is a lot of "Yes" progressive rock influence here. This number could be re-done by a heavier metal group in a different key, and it would come across completely differently. And still be a good song.

  • Anyone else think the video response of the old dude jump roping to this song is a little creepy? Thumbs up if you think so.

  • la mejor musica de el mejor tiempo

  • this song should be more popular. besides Your Love, this is one of their best

  • 80's ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • para mi la mejor banda que hay

  • This song reminds me of the songs that Yes put out in the 80's.

  • @Ataraxia462 Now that you mention it, they do sound a lot like Yes. But why did they release their last album under the name of Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe instead of Yes?(I think I got the names right)

  • @mogeroi they had to do it for legal reasons. They counldn't use the name, YES at the time. Lawsuits always ruin music. Lawsuit got settled and now the name/band YES is owned by the band.

  • I love how this song just kinda starts...plays out for a few minutes...then ends...without any real crescendo in the middle. Just exceptionally good music for 3.5 minutes. This song could be 10 minutes long and it wouldn't bother me. Fantastic.

  • great melodic interweaving with other instruments & always great harmonizing with the Outfield; takes me back to high school again.......

  • I've said this before and I'll say it yet again: this song is one of best ever conceived written. And this is coming from a man whose favorite post-metal song is "Grinning Mouths" by Isis. My Facebook is listed under Jody Warsteiner Steck (namewise). Hit me up regardless. This here song helped me develop love for music itself. I was 14 years old then and now I'm a whopping 35 going on 36 (March 24th).

  • This music is so beautiful and amazingly universal. So many of their songs are a majestic tapestry of both the melodic and lyrical . Unfortunately, the genius of The Outfield goes largely overlooked by the masses.Timeless.

  • i wish i new where i can find there albums

  • i will like any thing the outfield does because they are the best

  • que temon la puta madre!!!!!!!!!!

  • i got this album.........somehow i always think of them and Dan Reed Network at the same time

  • SHS854EVER . . . . The Outfield have putting out music since day one. Just that after the Diamond Days cd none of it has really been played on radio. The have a new CD coming out this year : 1) PLAY DEEP 1985 - 2) BANGIN 1987 -

    3) VOICES OF BABYLON 1989 - 4) DIAMOND DAYS 1990 - 5) ROCKEYE 1992 - 6) EXTRA INNINGS (UNRELEASED) 1999 - 7) ANY TIME NOW 2004 - 8) NO TITLE YET 2011

  • just curious is this band still together if not is there any word at all if this band is going to get back together for a US tour i would love to see them .One of all of my time favorite songs

  • one awsome song and i will always love the 80''s and also movies and tv shows

  • this song/production was light years ahead of its time.

  • @0hypershock ...ACTUALLY...I would say that the production was exactly in time with that era; we watched as this song came out, following other high-quality productions (Gabriel, ABWH, etc!) and eagerly anticipated what was to come in the 90's; only to find the corporate music world revert backwards, and the wonderful production technology was largely put aside in favor of (less expensive and more profitable?) styles of music. It was a shame.

  • @facelessfatloss Yea, considering what you've said, I agree.

I was a member of a top 40 cover band many moons ago. We covered some

Outfield back then. I dig the volcal range and the harmonies they pulled off.

I got a new pair of earbuds for Christmas ( my cat distroyed other pair ).

Trying them out and came across the Outfield. Got all wound up about them

being I really like their sound. Ahhhh memories.....

Yes its a real shame what happend to the corporate music world.

  • @0hypershock The Outfield certainly had their own niche, some really special music was released by many bands back in those days. :)

  • I've been looking for this song for 20 years. Thanks for posting it.

  • Nice video, I'd never seen it until just seeing it here.. I had the tape of this album until I wore it out. I hadn't heard it in years until I bought the CD on a whim about 2 years ago, and I listen to it all the time. This is one of the most underrated albums of it's time, IMHO...

  • such a good track, always have to listen to it more than once when i'm rocking the Outfield's greatest hits!

  • What a blast from the past...great song.

  • WOW...I haven't heard this one in 20 years!! Thank you you tube! The Outfield was awesome.....They remind me of the band Yes...Great harmony, great arrangements...! Doesn't even sound too dated...

  • My fav Outfield ong. Everything about it is perfect. Listen to it with a really good pair of headphones and you hear so much more..

  • This was the most underrated Outfield song by far. Almost an entire blackout on the radio in the states in the late 80's. Before IPODS and retail stores that would even carry lesser known British artists than Phil Collins and George Michael, these guys were hard to find. But isn't a lot of the best things hidden from public view many times. I heard this song playing in the background of an episode of X Files in the early 90's. It was fitting, a true story song about our civilization.

  • in the spirit of midnight oil's beds are burning, and for me, the superior melody and production... reminds me of the alarm too, just softer.... a beautiful tune

  • production values for this cd was absolutely incredible, anyone that knows about music and recording will agree, this was produced amazingly pure....

  • @chazrjr Good call. The production and tones are far and way the best for The Outfield ever. Funny, they were touring with Rush after the release of this record and the opened for the Grace Under Pressure show here at Irvine Meadows, SoCal. They were great opening and the songs/styling was a perfect match for Rush at that time.

  • música británica... sin dudas la mejor

  • I remember that I was around 14 years old when this vid was being aired on Friday Night Videos on NBC. To this very day, now that I am 35 years old, it still holds the same significance and importance. 1989 was the year that The Berlin Wall fell. This song is one of the best ever written and the vid one of the best ever conceived. PERIOD.

  • good song.....krystle nackpomminh

  • I was forced into trucking because of the economy and listing the the 80's this song came on after 8 hours of on the road this song gave me the wake up call is was really needing wo great song

  • Where are they now; thirty years later? Old and bald and fat? Maybe?

  • will always be one of their best

  • @blackgreencat No, they are NOT, asswipe!!!

  • This was one of the most underrated songs/albums of the late 80's. I loved it the moment I heard it. It was a good song to end the decade.

  • It's really cool that others (see the every post on this page) like this band and appreciate the song.

To all, thanks for saying good things rather than being like every other hateful person we see on youtube. Kudos to you all!

  • @skii6868 This song bring good memories when I was on the road.

  • Hit #2 rock, #25 in the US. Did it chart in the UK? God bless!

  • met these guys when they were opening for starship in ' 85 as i was part of the radio station on-air staff in duluth , mn. good guys and no arrogance or ego backstage. tony wanted to discuss many issues and grab a drink.

  • This track has the sickest production ever. I've listened to it on a compressed air transport CD player with vacuum tube preamps and Martin Logan electrostatic speakers. Dear god....

  • @shlibookensteppah This is one of my favorite songs to listen to on Youtube. The sound quality is just impeccable. The sounds just sparkles through my Sennheiser headphones. Crank er up!

  • @ls1959

It's true. Like I said, the production is ridiculous. This track is in the same realm as Trevor Horn releases, Division Bell stuff, & Bill Nelson. Serious audiophile bidniss an ting. :)

  • Whatever happened to these guys, anyway?

  • @mogeroithe I just heard that they are coming out with a new record this year.

  • this song bring good memories too. A very good song.

  • As usual, kick ass tune and vid!

  • This has always been one of my favorite Outfield tunes. Great vocals, as usual, harmonies are dead on and the musicianship is fantastic. John Spinks is an amazing song writer...glad to see his cancer is in remission and the guys are back with an new album in 2010...all us 80's hold-outs are happy to see you guys! We mised the HELL outta you!

  • vintage music is as good as the first time you heard it, to those who hear it for the first time, 5, 10, or 20 years on. thats why music stays with us. because 20 years later, you can listen to it for the first time again. thats what vintage is. and thats what makes music legendary. Fredom and Prosparity to All, Frabricator

  • I can't believe I was listening to this song 20 years ago. How time flies! Savor every minute here on earth, it goes fast.

  • I love Vevo...the videos are great and crystal clear!

  • this is one cool song man!

  • great band.
