  • Crom laughs at your unicorn, and throws you out of valhalla

  • Poledouris is the 13th olympian god... A greek god!

  • The sad fact that Basil didnt even get a nomination for this proves how fucked up the Oscars are. This may very well be the best film score ever written. I mean, come on... John Williams got five Oscars, but Basil didnt get a single nomination. What a joke!

  • CROM!

  • The chemistry between this amazing soundtrack and film is something special.

  • Sweet!

  • This song is called "The Gift of Fury", composed by the great greek guy, Basil Poledouris.

  • @wanuchidor Actually this song is called "Atlantean Sword" as the title says...

  • Basil Polidouris (Βασίλης Πολυδούρης) sits beside Zeus...the father of all Gods!

Greedings from Greece, motherland of Basil Polidouris!

    ΚΑΛΗΣΠΕΡΑ ΣΑΣ

  • the artwork is fantastic!! Who did the art?

  • Who did the artwork? it's amazing.

  • 2:05 2:49 I know they're cartoons but....damn

  • I love the scene inside the tomb, where Conan finds the Atlantean sword, and gives those wild dogs a look of triumph before he kills them...and is seen moments later wearing their hides (and presumably, ate them).

The new film will not have such amazing music, or scenes such as that, I assure you all.

  • @SPQRImperator the problem is the this, and much of the old movies, were unique. the new one is generic

  • @mephosto It is maybe just me, but I think the movie is like a very obvious Conan rip-off, than a actual Conan movie, if that makes any sence.

  • @mephosto

Their just business ventures these days that's all.

  • throne of bhaal...

  • CROOOOOOOM!

  • The late Mako who played Akiro the wizard was legendary as he chronicled Conans adventures was the narrator of the the two Conan films, his voice of story telling was epic alone.

This new Conan coming out does not look good, spinning an Atlantean sword around like that Is a joke, the rock music and him wearing a leather skirt.

  • @cfwbdude The new movie wasn't terrible but it wasn't as nearly as good a the old school version. In every Conan book, he is discribed as a huge man. This new conan is way too small.

  • Basil Poledouris Is the best composer of all time...!

  • when i was little i thought (because of the way arnorld speaks) i though he said crumb. so my question always was he prays to a crumb? from what a cookie, or a cake...it made me mad when i was little

  • i dont know why but this song hase a nice and werry similar catch like the song in the IWD / BG song (IMO) and like them is fucking bad ass

  • Magnifique moi je dis :o

  • conan is a baddass, those chinese fag art are not fit of basil's music.

  • Increible, es preciosa... maravillosa... que bien compuesta.... GRANDE BASIL POLEDOURIS!!!

  • magic

  • ennio can suck Basils...

  • ennio can suck Basisl...

  • 8 people have been cast out of Valhalla an laughed at!!!

  • The Atlantean Sword scene in the movie always filled me with the understanding that one shouldn't second guess him/herself. Conan fell into the pit that the old king sat upon, but he didn't hesitate despite his pain or enduring travels. Awed by the sword and it's foundation, he took a chance, and that chance let him to cut his chains. He's filled with the knowledge that he's not just free to live how he chooses. Also that he could be unstoppable.

    Something to think about though.

  • My God these scores give me the goose pimples. Its like you just dont hear the music rather you feel the music mentally and physically.!! If the movie didnt wrap you up with strong emotions then the scores most certainly did...What a masterful time piece...... BRAVO

  • Comment removed

  • c'est trop cool!!! J'adore!!

  • basilio y morricone grandes irremplasables

  • poledouris y morricone 2 grandes irremplasables

  • great track and better pics. were you get em?

  • Spelling the gods name "Krum" looks better than spelling it "Crom"

  • By Crom, this is awesome.

  • Too bad there is no more fresh Basil.

  • Basil made the best soundtracks ever....R.I.P

  • krom

  • That is strength boy, that is power.

  • 3:14 ...My ultimate goal in life.

  • Poledouris laughs at your Hans Zimmer, laughs from his mountain.

  • @CidHighwindRocks

"Mr. Zimmer, would you please kindly get down and blow me" - Basil Poledouris

not that I don't love Zimmer, he's one of the very best composers of the last half-century, but still, HANS ZIMMER IS BASIL's BITCH!!

and in terms of epicness of full names, it's not even competition - Hans Florian Zimmer vs. VASSILIS KONSTANTINOS "BASIL" POLEDOURIS

although, however, on the other hand - Basil is Ennio Morricone's butler

the hierarchy is all set up!

  • @CidHighwindRocks My god is stronger; He is the Ever-Sounding trumpet; Your god, he lays dead beneath him.

  • CROM!!!

  • Charis?

  • This soundtrack will stay for all times, for all the ones that have ears to hear....

  • proud!!

  • where did you get all this fantasy artwork?

  • He sits beside Crom

  • @chiggy123jsm

Haha love it. The first part with the high strings is amazing.

  • 222 mins in when it hits the climax four me

  • He was truly inspired by Crom

  • "Der, der mich im Namen von Crom führt, fühle keine Schuld."

  • and, not only the Music, the picture too, any way, many thanks, good bye

  • demais!!!!!!! melhor filme que eu já vi em minha vida!!

    Congratulations!! The best film!!

  • by crom...

  • I clicked cuz i saw a hot babe on picture .........

  • @TBoSP2010 I guess we all did...

  • That anyone can hear this anymore....

  • love this theme, this is when conan truly gains his freedom. He finds that massive atlantean sword and woe be to the world that stands before him. This movie is about revenge, and the futility of it all. Best movie EVER.

  • And the scene whene this song is playing in the movie is awesome as well.Finding the atlantean sword in that hidden tomb.

  • One of my all time favorite movies too bad all this new generation will know is all the bullshit remakes of everything that was already great and original.Cant fix whats not broken.

  • What instrument is that playing at 3:34? That is just awesome!

  • @acrimonious4018 Yeah it is. I think it's primarily trombones.

  • 8 people do not know the riddle of steel.

  • @CapWilliam711 too true, steel isn't strong boy, flesh is stronger, tell those idiots captain! :D

  • its funny how we can Watch Conan the Barbarian and its better music better landscape better costume design Much better story line, i would go as far as to say better acting regardless of what little acting there is but that is what was needed from the time hes a barbarian and uneducated he knows one thing and that is the Riddle of Steel

goes to show we dont make them like we used to

PS how fucked up did the horses get in this film ...... haha

  • Polidouris was the genius composer!

  • @Tns303 Spot-on....him, and his role model, Miklos Rosza. I bow before then both.

  • @oldcorps76 And yes, Rozsa. Great composer too. But although Basil did mentioned him as one of his influences, i wouldnt say "role model". They both learned from Ravel, Holst, R.V.Williams, Wagner, Prokofiev, Dvorak etc. These composition in particular follows almost the same dynamics and orchestrating as "Tallis fantasia". Thats the main reason i recommended it to zafada.

  • @Tns303

Man, he was truly awesome. One of my favorite from when I was a kid. He made Conan the Barbarian, an 80's movie, look like it's from our generation because of his music. Truly the greatest composer. He reminds me of Carl Orff.

  • @Tns303 Why "was" he is

  • @Tns303 and very underrated as well.

  • Originally they wanted to do rock music to Conan, BUT Basil said he had a much better idea for the movies score and here it is.

  • Beautiful imagination of Boris Vallejo (images). Hats off.

  • Who is the chick @ 2:43

  • magnifique

  • OMG dat elve chick @ 2:03 is fucking thick!!!

  • which is this film?

  • @parisfr12 Conan the Barabarian

  • Nice Fantasy art with the music.

  • "Crom laughs at your four winds".

  • @Grepple1234 "My god is the everlasting sky, your god sits beneath him".

  • Sensacional

  • @cavedracones

exactly that it is why this part is one of the most moving scores of all time!!!!!

This sadness and the longing for a long forgotten great past pervades the whole movie and the music in this scene summarizes it.

  • the dead atlantian who is no more bows his head to the conana as he passes along his sword and his legacy...to the one who become king by his own hand...i love this fucking scene...CRUM.

  • indeed this piece along with the scene in conan went perfect together....this is a haunting and beautiful score..one of the best scores ever.

  • Its really a amazing melody . Wonderful theme , and the rest of the original sound track is wonderful as well. Nice musical's taste of yours. Thanks for the video.

  • god I love this movie. It almost feels like (but exceedes) a Zelda game. BTW, when does this play in the movie?

  • Atlanteans were enemies of Hyperboreans

  • Who painted the second picture?

  • where did you get all those cool pictures?

  • Basil was a master, hopefully conan the barbarian will be regarded as the very best fantasy film ever made, it delivers on every front, music, cast, atmosphere, story.

  • cool soundtrack

  • MANOWAR

  • mysterie..................of atlantis

  • takes me to another world...

  • I haven't eaten in days.

... and who says you will?

I always remember that one line from Conan. Thanks Badawyy, one of my favourite movies. I was probably 8 when I first watched it. I think when a man loses everything he can reach inside himself and do anything he sets his mind upon.

  • (Part_2)

Those who would master the Way must come to understand this: a sword is a tool whose purpose is to cut. Each day the strategist must practice this until it is not practice, but a part of their spirit. The strategist knows that every sword they wield is perfect, for their will is perfect, and it is through their will alone that they win battles...

-The True Way by Kishiro Yoshitaka is a fictional book within Deus Ex (Video Game)

  • (Part_1)

...If one is to imagine the "perfect sword" that can cut and swing with no resistance, a sword that is an extension of the mind and heart of the warrior who wields it and not a dead weight of steel, then it becomes clear that the sword is of little consequence compared to the will of the strategist.

  • you cannot judge me as i am being judged

  • nice, i gotta add this to my mp3 player,, all this conan stuff helps pumpin weights

  • This sums up the world of Conan in a nutshell.

  • I very very dreaming to live in the the age of Conan)). this very dream ofcource, but i want. this is the greater story.

  • Splendid music !!!. Thanks for posting it.

  • Incredible. It's use in the movie is perfect as well, as he's in the ancient tomb.

  • "The tandems of the sorrow that was within the heart of the eyes was deceiving but it passes through what mind could give.

Breath of the past that makes me chants, i can not believed that the Prophecy of my life is within my own destiny.

Your video is saying what had happened to me."-Donabell C. De Apera

  • I have Basil Poledouris on my ipod. Makes long car rides epic! lol!

  • Beauty indeed that lies within the dessert part of the Golden Nile. The hideous forgot the deceived what is beyond. In doubt i chose to seek and reflect...the fruit of the vines already find ways to show how powerful it is.

  • ...crom...

  • @llkk750 mithra

  • at 3:03 is the witcher... great game!

  • Absolutely epic.

The entire soundtrack is amazing but this one specially.

  • Damn, i shoulda been born in the Hyborian Age man.

  • Paleodouris bien podria haber echo la musica para "the Lords Of The Rings"

  • this song remember me in insolence tower in lineage 2

  • Damn, Conan Saga pwns so much.

  • @WUDANGMASTER

The name of the song that they played when they climbed/broke into the Tower of the Serpant is Como Poden Per Sas Culpas. There are versions of it on i-Tunes.

  • BADAWWY where to get these pictures (Graphics)? could you send it to me?

  • Krom

  • Does anyone have the recording of the composition from the scene where Conan and Subotai meet Valeria for the first time and all 3 go to rob Thulsadoom's treasury in the snake tower and kill the giant snake???? For some that reason, that 8 or 10 min composition is never available in any conan the barbarian soundtrack.

  • No, it has never been released in any soundtrack. However, some guy did relatively nice job and mixed out all the dialogues and sounds from the music, and made complete soundtrack with every theme you can hear in the movie, including even those whose duration is only several seconds long. Sound is not of much quality, though.

  • @nyalarhotep who did and where can i get it

  • @thule1488vril i found it on some torrent site, cant remember which one, but search for this in your browser: "meeting valeria/stealing the eye of the serpent". You should find it easily.

  • @nyalarhotep If you're looking for the medeival chants from the Tower of Serpent, etc, search "Tower of Set". Insanely, it has NO views. Everyone remembers the big epic battle pieces, no one remembers all the detailed stuff. By the way, I think the Tower of Set piece is underrated because it was recorded as background music on old instruments, so it was deliberately lo-fi.

  • John Williams is a very good composer. Not good enough to be compared with Poledouris though. Basil stands with Richard Wagner, if not higher.

  • @nyalarhotep

    Anything you'd recommend by Wagner?

  • @zafada

Well, thats a pretty hard question to answer. My personal favourite is Götterdämmerung, but you probably know he mainly composed operas, so if you dont like operas, you should first try to listen to his preludes, overtures used in them. If you want me to recommend you something similar to Atlantean Sword style, search for Ralph Vaughan Williams, especially his "Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis" or "Five variants of dives and Lazarus".

  • @nyalarhotep

Awesome. I'll definitely check those out. Thanks :)

  • @nyalarhotep You sure do know your stuff....that's some of the most 'listenable' music ever written....

  • @oldcorps76 By "listenable", do you mean it has low artistic value?

  • Comment removed

  • @nyalarhotep That is one of the great elitist cultural fallacies of the 20th century, that for something to be 'artistic' it can't be comprehended and enjoyed by reg'lar folk. Representational art, beloved of the hoi-polloi, is disdained by the intelligentsia while a crucifix in a bottle of piss, or a black dot on a white canvas is considered 'high art.'

In short, I guess that depends on your definition of 'artistic value.' For me, the answer to your question is a resounding 'no.'

  • @oldcorps76 Than we agree on that matter. Its just the epithet "listenable" is often used by pseudo-intellectual snobs when referring to something not enough abstract for their sophisticated minds. Still, i wouldnt label these composers as listenable, if you consider the taste of majority. But after all i said, i do believe there is pap, art, high art and decadent art. Romanticism period in music is the example of high art, and from there its hard to improve harmony and orchestration even a bit.

  • @oldcorps76 Now you know why I love seeing simple but passionate and colorful "graffitti" murals painted on walls of Downtown and East Los Angeles when I am there. Not meant to be complex and hard to understand. Left to the everyday public to enjoy...still very much art!

  • @Abobojo i saw some amazing ones in detroit on my trip and were i like the ATL and when people put up murals as "graffiti" no 1 wants to cover it with paint to destroy some ones art.. so they leave it up for all to enjoy

  • Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think Basil was as creative and talented as John Williams, if not more.

  • @adamkotta888 John Williams aint got shit on the Basil Poledorius His music is the stuff that legends are made of!!...literally!!!, aint you ever heard of the Anvil of Crom, Wifeing the theme of love,The Gift of Fury ?... Aint you ever heard of these things?

  • How would it be if Conan was redone in another 10 years, with the spectacular visuals shown in this video? Maybe give it the Avatar treatment and make a totally R movie (not G or PG).

  • Great video and music. Timeless and Priceless!

Where did you find this pictorial?

    Thanks for posting!

  • @lionssong2525 pictorial??? google :D:D:

  • the most underrated

movie of the 80's. People nowdays prefer

to watch piece of shit like Narnia and

    pirates of the caribbean

  • narnia is not too bad, but yes, conan is better, and unbelievably under rated

  • @tiiito1988 yes...Narnia is shit but Pirates...hmm..good film with nice OST from H.Zimmer

  • @tiiito1988 Conan the Barbarian was epic, Conan the Destroyed sucked balls.

  • @leostomicek

You are right. I was very disappointed

when I saw the sequel, because the

    director was replaced :(

  • @tiiito1988 I though I was alone in earth until I saw your comment, pal.

  • @tiiito1988 it's not on you to judge other people's tastes

  • @tiiito1988

They´re good too but Conan was different in those days they did´nt screw around with all this CG-crap - Ok some CG to help make the movie better but nowadays some seem to rely on it mor and more wich is tragic to say the least!

  • @tiiito1988 I do not prefer narnia or shirates of the caribbean...I was born late 79´s and I love Conan movies,as they say in the DVD,Conan was supposed to have a movie every 2 years like J.Bond had. Anyway I feel a little scared about the new movi e to come about Conan...I do not have a good feeling about it.

  • @cascoscuro79 theres a new Conan coming out!?! As long as they stay away from the kiddy theme that Destroyer was then it should be good, but then again it wont have Arnold or Subatai :(

  • @jeremygts Yes,search for Jason Momoa in Google and...well,honestly I do not hope much from this new movie to come.It is just a try to renew the character and get money without taking care if the quality of the film.No Arnie,no Basil Poledouris music (for sure) = crap.

  • @cascoscuro79 ah yeah, im sure they could reuse Basil's music kinda like they did with destroyer. I wont have high hopes for this though lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @tiiito1988 my assistant manager just turned 21 and i shit you not looks EXACTLY like conans mom. the one who got her head cut off. the same straight hair. the long nose and blue eyes. and killer body

  • @tiiito1988

I know. This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I used to watch this just to listen to the music, same with Destroyer which definitely wasn't nearly as good. The others I used to watch religiously were Predator, Terminator, and The Last Starfighter.

Narnia was real crap btw. Centurion wasn't half bad. Some of the movies concerning Roman battles are pretty cool when they're not doused with that 300 type special effect nonsense.

  • Atlantean is this from greek myhtolgie !

    Atlantis ?

I found in wikipedia is from Atlantis.

  • Atlantis is/was real....

  • Atlantea is from Atlantis.

    Atlantis wife form is Atlantea.
