Thanks so much for breaking down the basic steps. I have the first step down. I am having trouble with the turns but I will keep practicing which will keep increasing your number of views, so we both WIN!!!!!!
AWESOME!! Great video. I will be stepping in the club from now on. Great to get the basics down, then it's not so awkward getting someone to show you the rest.
do the women and the men start off with the left foot? With the Kansas City 2 step the men start off with the left and the women with their right foot.
@TheRed1955 what you say about about the KC 2-step is the "normal" dance convention of mirrored partner dances. The only dance I have done that does not follow it is Argentine tango and Chicago-style stepping. Stepping in Chicago is generally taught Left for follower & right for leader. But, if you dance the way it is shown it will not make a difference! I learned a mirrored stepping originally using conventional starting foot. But, somehow it changed in Chicago. Why???
@salsadj1 Small world: You may have met a Latin/mambo/salsa DJ from Chicago El Caobo [Earl Hall]. I go to his Latin dance set on the south side in Chicago. I've been doing or trying bachata, salsa, merengue & Argentine tango off & on for for a few years now. Adding stepping to your dance vocabulary should not be too tough. Dominican style bachata should be plus in learning stepping although swing experience is more helpful. It is just easier learn another partner dance when you do one already.
Thanks for your video because it has been a great help for me to have and gain the knowledge of the basic steps in understanding the females steps, but I am guy who is trying to learn the basic steps for the man. I have been trying to find a site to learn and see the basic 8 count for the man, but I think found a site yesterday. Keep doing great things in your career and to inspire others to reach their goals as well. Peace and joy,Talmadge L. Darden
I was just about to get frustrated because I had not seen one video that actually went slowly enough for me to catch the steps and see what I needed to do. Thank you. This was so easy to follow.
Finally a beginner's lesson that looks and feels right. Steppin has also been a mystery to me. A lot of classes start you off different and it doesn't seem to fit in when you dance with someone else or see other people doing it. Thanx from Detroit.
I want to learn how to step. I am from cali and my mom taught me how to cha cha but I want to know hot to step another style. Loved this video I learned a lot in 7 mins.
I like this stepping video. It's really detailed and the counting helps. But I think it would be even better if after teaching the basic steps, they would show the steps to music so that you could appreciate it live.
I love steppin. At least learnin how to step. Its mature. Its a shame The music industry ignores the middle aged black music lovers. There are a lot of us. The music, the dancing. the dressing up. Its called CLASS. you cant step with pants saggin! Hey whose the bbw? Go Girl! You GO!
I just want to thank you,I have been looking for a video to show me how to step for some time now.The way you teach it step by step you make it look so easy. I no longer have to be the one who has to just stand and watch people having fun . I can't thank you enough
This video is EXCELLENT!! I have watched a few but this is the most professional. You could sell this. I want to learn to step with my husband. I am going to have him watch this.
It does take muscle training like many other activities. We all have had that feeling with something at the begining. Have you ever watch a 1st time skater, bike rider, archer, basketball player? I'll be nothing in a while... like walking weight 1 foot at a time only. Get local help from any good partner dance instructor if something really does not feel right. Good luck!
Alot of instructors seem to just showoff all these "complex" moves to their students. You're one of the only ones to break it down this simply. This clip deserves the 'Bout Time' Award for finally showin how it happens!
step was invented so people with no instrumental or dance talent can feel like they do in fact have some sort of talent.
