  • I saw about 12 Morpho species - cypris, hecuba, telemachus, aega, godarti, thamyris (female, and others! :-)

  • Very nice! I watched very carefully and saw one moth! ;-)

  • They go by quick, don't they? Thanks for the view and rate! 8)

  • great vid. I was scared to blink cause I would have missed like 10 of them ;) Job well done :)

    5 stars

  • That was colorful :)

  • You're not kidding! Each one of those was like its own color-fest. 1000 of them in rapid succession is more like color overload! 8D

  • Dude - that was a LOT of butterflies! :-)

  • i liek dit thanx for sharing!!

  • How do we know there is REALLY 1000 different species there? Ha, I'm just joking. That is a very neat video. Is there even an estimate for the total number of known Lep. species?

  • The count was over 600,000 (mostly moths) and climbing, last I heard. New ones are discovered every year.

There are 1050+ images in this video - a few duplicate species, yes, but not many. There should be well over 1000 unique ones. No false advertising here!

    Thanks for watching! :D

  • ...I forgot to mention - there are a few moths in there too, but still enough unique butterflies to clear the 1000 mark. :D

  • Why are there more moth species?

  • Only mother nature knows for sure, but I can tell you that moths seem to be much more diversified, and many of the species are REALLY small. There is a lot of similarity among the small ones, and many of them don't look much like leps. Perhaps being largely nocturnal plays a role too. So much to learn! :-)
