  • Great vid. I was just wondering the reason for no bushing on my ultra compact. Thanks man.

  • Good informative video. I was trying to decided between a Springfield or the Kimber Raptor II which comes with a bull barrel. I've decided to go with the Kimber so I can have reduced muzzle flip too.

    Thanks!

  • @cartisdm In theory the added weight helps with muzzle flip. A thumb over safety grip probably does as much of more to assist in controllong muzzle flip

  • I know the Colt Combat Commander has a bushing, Check the "American Classic" brand and Springfield, Not sure about those, but most have the bushingless barrel.

  • i am looking for a 4 inch barrel 1911 for ccw... do you know of any that have a bushing. i prefer the look of the bushing on a 1911 and can not find a 4 inch bushing 1911 to save my life, at the same time though i am looking at cheaper gi model ones. so maybe that is my problem.

  • @doctruptwn - thanks alot bro!..ill be watching ur channel

  • on 1911s with bushing barrels..can you use a full length guide rod?? or is that specifically for a bull barrel?

Thanks, I'm part shopping and a bit confused on that matter

  • @SirSmok3Alot225 I have the perfect video in production for you, be out in a few days, It is specifically about guide rods. But if your in a hurry and you want to order now. Then Yes you can have a full length guide rod with a bushing barrel. You do need a special end plug. The closed end guide plug will not work with the full length guide rod. Basically the parts that you have to order are a guide rod and a o[pen end spring plug, The stock spring and Bushing should work just fine.

  • @SirSmok3Alot225 Also note the Full length guide rod is more cosmetic than functional. It does add some weight to the foreend of the pistol which might help with muzzle flip but does little else to improve function.

  • thank you for this...really informative for a 1911 newbie

  • Hey Doc, If both barrels were 5" Are the recoil springs the same? Regards,Scott f.

  • @RETIREINARIZONA

Honestly I don't know, I have never done the conversion before. I would expect that you would have to change to a full length guide rod and a reverse spring and guide rod plug simular to the compact in the video.
