Well, no, it would be Jasper Cullen as much as it would be Edward Cullen and not Edward Masen. They are all supposed to be Carlisle and Esme's kids so they have all adopted the last name Cullen. This is possibly one of my favorite casts of all time. They all seem so real and sweet... and so respectful of each other. That is really hard to find in the industry. Especially with newbies. I hope they can keep their heads. Imagine a whole new breed of celebrities who actually act human!

When she joined the Cullen she keep her last name.

Later When Jasper joined the Cullen they have to change the story to adapt it better, so they decided that Jasper and Rosalie were twins and also they were Esme nephews.

So thats why they are Hale and not Cullen.

They are all 'Cullens' in the movie. Remember in the cafeteria scene they are all introduced as the Cullens - they're 'adopted' so all have the same last name. I know in the book Rosalie and Jasper are 'Hales' and it explains it there, but not enough time for the movie. (Small details)

Most of the press they did for Twilight was before the fourth book came out. It only came out a couple weeks before the movie, and a lot of the interviews they shot weeks or months before.

If they said something like that now, it would be dumb. But the actors didn't know any more than the fans about what would happen when Bella was turned.

Well, Breaking Dawn actually came out in August, not a couple of weeks before the movie, but if anyone has seen any other interviews of Kristen, she has said she didn't want to read ahead because it might change her portrayal of Bella (since she does somewhat change throughout the books).

You are right, in the books, his name is Jasper Hale although in the Third book he said his real last name was Whitlock.. But he is portrayed as Roselie's brother. They are both Hales, which is Roselie's real last name in the book. Edward, Emmett and Alice are supposed to be Cullen's
