may i ask what did you use for shots where you are followed? I'm assuming skateboard with a grip? Very nice video, but I still think I'm the coolest dad ever. . :P
This is great and this made me more happy that I have oredered a 500D which I am still waiting, some few questions what programmes did you used for colour correction and how did you filmedc the under water scene?
This is relatively cheap camera. How is noise level in lowlight, colours and how shallow is depth of field? How fast is autofocus? Does it have manual focus and exposure during shooting? Does it make sense buying much more expensive EOS 5D Mark2? Your film is amazing!
@mrwhitemanvideo Noise level is quite good especially when used with a "fast" lens - canon 50mm 1.8 is great. Auto focus is not worth using for video (as with 5D) it is best to use manual focus but that is how you should shoot any professional video. 550D adds some extra features but if budget allows the 7D is a great camera for much less than 5D. DOF is down to lens and aperture not as shallow as full frame but with the right lens like a 1.8 or 1.2 you can get very shallow effects.
@AshKilamande We added grain in post when colour grading and i think the anti-aliasing is in the compression - youtube - it doesn't show here in the master files.
Check out my video "Fun Afternoon | Canon 5D mk II Sample Video" a sample clip I shot recently on my new 5DmkII with no colour grading etc.
This was based around an advertising campaign for The $2 Shop - New Zealand. Cant give you exact figures but it was very cost effective and came in on a modest budget.
You're not using one camera right? You take shots from the helicopter then the camera is with the man do you have more than one camera? Anyways this is really a great work! I'd like to try that on my 500D :D
I have read where you can adjust the apeture by a step process with the lense and I read somewhere that you did this on this video. Can you provide instructions on how to do this as well as what bennifits and situations you can use it in? I just purchased this camera yesterday but still a little lost on how you did that. Looks great by the way. I love the video capability of this camera a lot. Did you hold it the whole time or did you use any type of rig? Thanks!
You can adjust the aperture on some lenses normally older types. I didn't do that on this video - I did use the manual exposure over-ride which adjusts aperture shutter and iso to get the desired result (no control over what the camera decides to shift). The on the lens adjustment would be good when wanting to force an aperture for Depth of field etc. I used a tripod - very basic steady cam - car suction mounts and some handheld shots for effect.
Coolest dad ever with a pink mobileXD

Oh yea the manual exposure adjust is achieved by holding AV +- button and using wheel by shutter release.
