Found out it is Gary Carter on steel, along with Paul Martin on bass, Kenny Vaughan on lead guitar, Harry Stinson on drums, and Marty Stuart on acoustic guitar. This great band, the Fabulous Superlatives, is keeping real country music alive in concerts and on RFD tv.
@guitarnut58 Thanks for info, I heard Connie say here's Gary on another video , hes a lovely player great tone . First time I heard of him was when he toured with Randy Travis in the UK in the 80s he was brilliant then as now he also played a pedabro.
As for the rest of the band phew ! just wow ! brilliant, I saw them in february in Newcastle Upon Tyne UK , sadly minus the steel guitarist but Marty put on a superb show he the drummer and bass man did some gorgeous bluegrass harmonies.
@guitarnut58 Dont hang back , your opinion certainly is correct dont be humble about it. lol ! Connie Smith IS the greatest female country singer ever , such a natural voice , still strong and clear at 68 yrs young proves it.
She should be in the Hall Of Fame Yesterday! I just don't understand the people that make those decisions. There are so many that should be in there and a few that are in there a little prematurely.
Nobody can compete with this!! Voice is as strong as I can remember, and I go back to the 60s when she was on the radio every day, every hour. What a talent!
Connie did have great success and could have been as big or bigger than any of the other female country stars but she left it to raise her family. It's a testament to the kind of woman she is and how important family is to her. I wish she would have stuck with it but I respect her for setting it aside for what is really important.

Beautiful rendition by Connie, Marty and crew. Does anyone know who the steel player is? This is real country music at its best in my humble opinion.

It's too bad she never had the commercial success that Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson & Dolly had ... she had (has) a really pretty voice.
