This is a beautiful performance. Your voice is so warm and strong, and the enunciation is so clear. Thank you for putting this on You-Tube! It's sweet to see various "school" of local productions, but this is so, so top-notch!
Just compare thetenore's Ralph--musically and thespically--with that of Timothy Robinson in the 2007 BBC Proms production on YouTube! Robinson's not remotely in the same league. Robinson is all right musically, but has that typical, unnuanced light tenor voice--truly, far more suited to Billy Budd than to the role of Ralph. Thetenore, on the other hand, brings such richness to the lyrics, and adds such a lovelorn, Chekhovian despair that one really believes he's ready to die of love!
I've always loved this number! Played/sang Sir Joseph Porter at school--hasn't EVERYONE in the UK at one time or another been in a school production of H.M.S. Pinafore?
Obviously, it had nothing on this production, and our Ralph was a pitiful swot whom we all disliked--AND, far more importantly, had no voice at all!
This makes me appreciate thetenore's truly wonderful tones all the more! Cold or no, his singing is still terrific (those last notes are fantastic)!
If you can produce those glorious sounds with a heavy cold, how marvellous when you're in full voice! Really, your voice is breathtaking (no pun intended). I adored your Nanki-Poo as well.
You did very well. And the comments on pronunciation are to your credit. Gilbert was a nut about good pronunciation. If another G&S bioflick is planned, please put in your application.

The singing on Ralph is a bit strained and breathy. But it was still pretty good.
