  • RADHEKRISHNA ! Good to see your comments. Now that you have one more opportunity to watch him in Alangudi. Yes, he will be performing on Friday the 11th Feb 2011. You are welcome to attend.

  • I had a golden opportunity to participate in this bhajan at Alangudi with Jayarama Bhagawathar with another bagawathar Ravi. We both travelled all the way from Andanallur (Trichy) by two wheeler. . I never miss kovai anna's bhajan as needless to say he is top in the bhajan field and by his scintillating performance he is blessed with the talent of keeping the audience intact till the end of every program. • i wish the audio was clear...he has sung it with so much bhava

  • Would someone please post the lyrics? thanks.

  • This is incredible- awesome and touching!

Is this sect in any way related to the Thanjavur Marathis?

  • Radhekrishna !

No, they are not related to Thanjavur Marathis There is no wonder in your finding this rendering incredible as the artist Sri.Kovai Jayaraman is one among the top rated bhajan singers from Tamil Nadu. Sampradhaya bhajan includes songs from various languages. One among them is what you have watched, the abhangs from Maharashtra. You will be further suprised if you listen to this artist's release "Mukhim Nam Sadha" where good collection of Marathi abhangs are found.

  • Wowoow- what a rendition- very soul-touching .

  • Radhekrishna!

Sri Kovai Jaraman is known for his classic performance. His vibrant bhajans are most enjoyable.

  • the ragaa is patdheep.

    Kovai Jayaraman.(the singer)

  • thanks very much Nitinji. I will certainly visit pandharpur to get the lords blessings and also get some abhang. I am currently learning some abhangs through youtube such as this one. I am concerned with my pronunciation and for that I am planning to consult some Marathi friends for that. thanks once again. -Siva

  • Do not worry about your ucchars. Parmeshwar has heard all ucchars. Your bhav is more important.

  • Thanks Aravindji, I know what you mean. The main reason I asked is because I want to do my best as words are the vehicle for emotions. Thanks for your kind words once again.

  • Very soulfull. Thanks for this wonderful song. I want to know the lyrics. Also I want to know whether this singer has any CD...

  • the Lyrics:

    Veda re veda re pandhari(m)

    Morcha lava Bhimadhiri(m)

    chalaa chalaa santh jana

    karooni vaasi bhandana

    lodaa lodaa phandarapura

    dharaa rakumayeechaa vara

    thuka(m)hane chalaa

    gaava nichanii gaalaa

  • Thanks for the lyrics. It really helps me to practice the song with the above tune.

  • This person's name is Kovai Jayaraman.

He has Ayyappa's song 1 cassette and a double cassette consisting of abhangs and really good ones at that.

  • Where can I get them, esp. the abhangs. Can I get the title so that I can search them in the web.

  • Abhang's are devotional songs written and sung mainly in Marathi. Pandhari is the avatar of vishnu. The mandir is in Pandharpur and every year there is huge yatra of Pandharpur. These days also its going on on the shubh muhurat of Ashadhi-Ekadashi. You can search you tube for abhang. Pandit Bhimsen joshi has sung many bhajans. These are the composition of Saints from Maharashtra but many people fascinated by the Pandharupur vari(yatra) of Pandharpur has started learning Abhangs.

  • If some time you can come to Maharashtra buy Abhang CD's
