That's another weakness of capcom. They had to tell us where DMC 4 takes place. I guess they never fully understood the "Show, don't tell" concept of story telling. And as bad as DMC 2 was in terms of gameplay, DMC 2 succeeded where DMC 4 failed to do. They introduced a NEW character, while still keeping Dante the main guy and still continue to explore Dante's story a little. And as far as his age is concerned, we don't know WHEN DMC 2 took place. Only that it's the last of the series per say.
But what i did find cool about dmc2 storyline was that he was sorta reliving sparta's life bcz dante always kept saying " I know he did the same thing" im not tryna say your wrong with the mistake thing bcz you could be right all im saying is that mabye they tride to make it confusing like with the whole game' storyline bc the games did not come out in proper order to the story so if anything a DMC5 has to be made either continueing from 2 or a DMC on sparta
I am right lol. it is a mistake when the devs have to tell you information they didn't put in a game that's important to the series. I mean it would be like finding out superman was from Krypton after the story tellers told us he was. it's supposed to be IN the game or what not. Maybe they did try to make it confusing, but in the end, what it was is bad story telling. it doesn't have to be in an order but it still has to ESTABLISH their character and their story. DMC 4 failed to do that. Simple.

The damage is already done. Capcom knows this since they were reluctant to tell us Nero's Origin, and we had to find out from the DEV's? They should've never introduced him in the first place. At least not as a main character. He has LESS the namesake and he has no prior establishment? That's the makings of a supporting character. Even proper ones like that had SOME prior connection to a previous game that was IN the newer installments.
Also like what you said with bayonetta with the mummy part was a great example and more clear hint i guess dmc tride to get fancy with the storyline they talked about soarta so much they might aswell make a game on him or one more clear about nero himself
There's Lazy, there's fancy, and there's just bad story telling. And DMC 4 was all of those except one. And it's not Fancy. Fancy is still establishing a general stance for your main character on why he's there in the first place. They're gonna have to put him in the next game to explain who he is now. They have no choice but to. IN a supporting character setting though. he has no right to be in the main seat. And like I said, the damage was already done. They should've put it in the 4th one.

It's one thing to give subtle hints and what not. But it's another thing to introduce a new character who's replacing the namesake one and give him NO background to the previous games. It's like pulling another Metal Gear Solid 2 on the fans. At least in that respect we see WHY we are playing as Raiden though. And we are at least given a solid background on WHO he is. Capcom decided to say "hey, fuck that. Lets just keep the fans hanging on" that's an insult on their part.

Everything in the game was like that. Everything could have been taken a different way. There was no substantial background ON Nero, and in term of what's in the games, there's still none. I mean the directors and the game devs had to tell us Nero was the Bastard son of Dante's brother? THat is lazy to the highest extent. And THAT should be in the game. In fact it has to be if the player is going to be forced to play as a mediocre second rate Dante clone. That's just lazy game designing.

That's fine but what I'm talking about is substantial evidence that needs to be explained IN the game. For instance (spoil alert)
In bayonetta when she meets a little girl named Cereza, that little girl kept on calling her mummy. Everytime she was on scene, she kept calling her mummy. And that was led to believe that this young girl was her mom. Until later on in the game, it's revealed that Cereza was bayonetta. THAT is establishment and that was what DMC 4 lacked.
Il tell you that when i first played dmc4 i was looking at nero like " why am i playing as him" and why does he have white hair like dante does he just have to have white hair for the game to be cool? or does DMC feel that we needed something new to the series like with nero's Devil bringer to step up the violence but no dante has always been the best and giving nero 60% of the storyline in that game just didn't make sence at all
If they are going to do that then thats fine. But they HAVE to have it lead up to something IN the game. Not wait until fans get impatient and then the devs had to make an announcement of some sort. That's not what a game dev is supposed to do. And in terms of something new, you can put the DB on Dante and have the same if not better experience. Nero added nothing new to the series. And I agree. But he's not right about DMC taking place after DMC 2. Because there has been NO info in DMC 5 as of yet. The only thing we know is that Capcom has been given the green light to make another DMC 5. We don't know WHERE it takes place and what and we don't even know what is it going to be about. And what research did he do? he showed me nothing except a few heresays and theories made up by OTHER people. The Devs didn't even TELL us that DMC 5 comes after 2. No one even got THAT.
He doesn';t know when DMC 5 takes place and neither does anyone else. The only people who DO know are the insiders at Capcom, and they've been keeping quite about it. We know that Nero is Vergil's son, because they told us as well as showed us in the Manga and that was about it. Other than that, there hasn't been squat about DMC 5. The producers didn't tell us ANYTHING about where DMC 5 takes place. Just like him, you HAVE nothing.
And I'm not saying this as an insult. I'm just stating that you or anyone of us have anything to go by that suggests DMC 5 will takes place after 2 or before 2. You guys honestly don't have anything that you can give that equals to proof. Also let's see what Capcom REALLY said about the whole Nero Vergil thing. Also let's see what Capcom really said about Nero and Vergil being sons and what not.

That's another weakness of capcom. They had to tell us where DMC 4 takes place. I guess they never fully understood the "Show, don't tell" concept of story telling. And as bad as DMC 2 was in terms of gameplay, DMC 2 succeeded where DMC 4 failed to do. They introduced a NEW character, while still keeping Dante the main guy and still continue to explore Dante's story a little. And as far as his age is concerned, we don't know WHEN DMC 2 took place. Only that it's the last of the series per say.

The damage is already done. Capcom knows this since they were reluctant to tell us Nero's Origin, and we had to find out from the DEV's? They should've never introduced him in the first place. At least not as a main character. He has LESS the namesake and he has no prior establishment? That's the makings of a supporting character. There's Lazy, there's fancy, and there's just bad story telling. And DMC 4 was all of those except one. And it's not Fancy. Fancy is still establishing a general stance for your main character on why he's there in the first place. They're gonna have to put him in the next game to explain who he is now. They have no choice but to. IN a supporting character setting though. he has no right to be in the main seat. And like I said, the damage was already done. They should've put it in the 4th one.

If this is the best they can do, then they failed. Because telling people who Nero is, isn't the same as SHOWING people who he is. DMC 4 did not do that. So now they have no choice BUT to do that with DMC 5. Fact is they should've done so with DMC 4. Don't you see that the orders of the game is irrelevant? it doesn't mater what the time line is. That's the only thing good about him. Take that away he has nothing. In fact I recon that Dante's gameplay is ten times more fun due to the fact that he had variety. So no, Nero was not great. It's one thing to give subtle hints and what not. But it's another thing to introduce a new character who's replacing the namesake one and give him NO background to the previous games. It's like pulling another Metal Gear Solid 2 on the fans. At least in that respect we see WHY we are playing as Raiden though. And we are at least given a solid background on WHO he is. Everything in the game was like that. Everything could have been taken a different way. There was no substantial background ON Nero, and in term of what's in the games, there's still none. In bayonetta when she meets a little girl named Cereza, that little girl kept on calling her mummy. Everytime she was on scene, she kept calling her mummy. And that was led to believe that this young girl was her mom. Until later on in the game, it's revealed that Cereza was bayonetta. THAT is establishment and that was what DMC 4 lacked.
