Somewhere I have a Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra Album called; Themes from Science Fiction or something similar. They did a very good version of this music, along with some other SciFi classic themes. I wish I could find the darned thing, as I left it in CT when I moved to AL...Now I have to make a trip to CT and get it!!
@edybeast :: I flew the usual Army Aircraft and Helicopters. My Dad was FE on the B-29, B-36, XC-99, RB-50, C-97, and C-124...among others..Thanks for the replies...He never did like the new stuff!! Just the ancient recip jobs with the gigantic engines...R 4360's and R-3350's the usual suspects...
@edybeast : I don't recall the name, but it sounds right....I was a dependant at Travis, from sept 57 to May 63. Lived in the Wherry Housing, and the Capehart...Dad was a MSGT and Flight Engineer. I was in the CAP Squadron there as well...Moved to Connecticut in 1963, and came thru there 4 times doing tours in Nam as an Army Aviator, 1967/68 and 1969....Loved that place, and they have ruined it lately...(See Google Earth for details!)
@edybeast I remember that show! It was on the channel from Oakland CA...in direct competition with "Captain Sacto" I lived at Travis AFB from 1957 to 1963...so this is no bull! The hokey model rocket was the best part of his intro!!
This is really nice. Great find. Looks in great shape too. This was to be the soundtrack until they found 2 guys who played early forms of synthesizers and they fired David Rose.
@NickInMesa David Rose was 2 great as a music composer and artist 2 b fired by any1-Even if he was fired, he was 2 smart not 2 continue as the great music composer and artist that he was-By the way, Rose was married 2 Judy Garland and Martha Raye.
I also listened to Long John Nebel on WOR. He came on after Jean Shepard. I would fall asleep during Nebel's show, the radio left on all night and wake up to this theme. Fabulous memories. Thanks for posting...
OMG...this is absolutely FABULOUS! Thank you! When I was a little girl, growing up in Blue Point, Long Island in the fifties, my mom would listen EVERY NIGHT to the late night talk show on New York's WOR radio, "The Long John Nebel Show", which began at midnight. Our house was only 600 square feet (!), BUT on the water -- bought for $6000. NEW. Anyway, this was the theme that I would fall asleep hearing in that tiny house. What precious memories...thanks again!
Hi at last we can enjoy this forbidden planet, the effects are very good for 1956. Thank s Brightonrock1947 I m from 1983 but I love David Rose music and I was searching for one 45 rpm with the music. I have contributed with my FACIT clip with another song. Thank s again, Yessy (I was # 03 listener)

Too bad you couldn't hardwire the sound from the stereo to avoid using a mic.
Still, the effect isn't unlike listening to Long John on WOR from far away, 45 years ago.
