I don't get the few negative people that have spent the time to post stuff about a band that all the bands that are on the more extrem and dark side, whatever style. Slayer directly or indirectly had a major impact and pioneered three decades ago the most extreme beginnings to so much of all the insane styles of metal out there now. And other then some of the first death metal albums, like Malevolent, Grave, Intumed, Deicide, Early Cannibal, Morbid Angel, my friends in Monstrosity, Obituary,

There were other bands that had a impact but not like Slayer did in my opinion. I got to live the Tampa era as a teenager, amazing time for metal.

@Kineticrecordings I have been to every band I listed live, and they all are the bad asses for there time, but Slayer from '86 through the '90's sickest, most brutal head splitting pits I have ever seen, I saw a guy get hit so hard at Lakeland where Decade Of Aggression Disk 1 was recorded, get his eyeball popped out and hanging by the cord. The craziest thing I have ever seen in a pit.... But who cares about all that, Slayer is epic, there songs are still iconic. But thats just my opinion!!!

South of Heaven is a very poor album not nearly as good as Show no Mercy but at least its not as bad as God Hates Us All that shits horrible. Slayer and Metallica have some good stuff but their not the best the genre has to offer. I dont care about success by the way I judge bands by how good they are musically.
