  • Yeah a wise man who fully accepted the Christian message of the risen Jesus,

He got on board, before it was to late,-

He realised at the end of the day, only 2 realitys-the lost and the saved,

    Peace billy.

  • @pnoom I giess you missed the point - every country has its own heroes. Billy Thorpe is one of ours - live with it.

  • @pnoom

Short of entertainment, are you kidding?

    One day cricket, baby!!!

  • I sang at Sunbury aged 16 with all the poor aussies. We wouldn't live anywhere else dickhead. Best country in the world.

  • pnoom....been there done that....but all the tee-shirts have been washed out thanx for this little reality check reminder ....

  • Most people pnoom knows must think he's crazy.

  • banal? trite? I guess too many people still actually are 'crazy', in the conventional sense that is, not in the misinterpreted contetx/meaning Billy gives the word.

This song is indeed a brilliant piece from a true artist, and if it doesn't resonate with you on any level then save yourself the embarrassment of posting here, for you're simply red lighting the world that you're an ignorant unconscious member of the sheeple collective... and yeh I know, that must sound CRAZY!

  • @Username10131 Well said, friend. Couldn't have put it better myself!

  • I Used to ride my bmx down the hill and sing this song in my head, it was quite euphoric for a 7 year old haha

  • @anthonyok ha ride a bike? are you some kind of poor ass bogan fuckwit?

  • Yeahh boo-hoo for us. We don't have elton john and the fucking royal family to keep us occupied. So in our spare time we listen to billy thorpe, you fucking twat. Somehow, I think I would prefer this.

  • Most people I know KNOW that I'm crazy ... miss ya Billy.

  • I remember walking through the streets of Richmond in Melbourne in primary school singing this song back in the 70's. Brings back such great memories. R.I.P Billy. xxxxx

  • this song makes complete sense

  • A brilliant song, which should've been a worldwide No.1 song. RIP Billy, you're a legend! :)

  • @dariowestern ,Absolutely correct, how could it not have become a world wide No 1,it should be an all time standard, i was fifteen when i first heard it on the radio, and never forgot it, still love it as much now and i am fifty five next.

  • LOVE this song, I was 14 again all the way thru it. Thanx a million for posting it.

  • Brand new to me. Thanks for posting this.

  • This 'Youtube' is Grrreeaattt. I had a sudden brain wave, remembering the end of term and studying in 72 and then trying to recall this song, then I found it ! Which was liked because of its apparent originality, compared to what was in the charts during this time. Getting drunk at 30pence a pint; Glam Rock, Progressive, Heavy Metal, West Coast music etc...What a fucking era :-)

  • @petermcintyre100 Hi glad u found this great track ,i heard it in 72 at school but it wasnt a hit in britain, i loved it and never forgot it, ever, didnt hear it again till 2008 on radio 2, not once in 36 years i swear, now have their greatest hits cd from oz,, this song is unique un forgetable, and what a voice he had! guess u must be around my age i remember getting drunk at 27 pence pence a pint

  • @azteczodiac . Yes mate I am around your age. It's good to get nostalgic. I got drunk on a pound (3 pints of lager!!). Songs are part of our lives without a doubt. This one was played at my pub amongst the Stones, Roxys & Sabbaths during my earliest attempt at getting served alcohol without proof of age, (felt all mature and grown up!!) Good listening.

  • @azteczodiac

Not a hit because of because the all powerful BBC had a virtual monopoly of the airwaves, and they determined what type of music you to listened to.

No commercial radio until 1974, expect for some pirate stations and Radio Luxembourg.

I remember Watney's Red Barrel for around 28 or 30p per pint, but I was only getting 28 quid a week before tax!

  • @azteczodiac well im 20 and i love this song, i recently stared playing guitar and im going to learn this song. ps i get drunk a $8 average a drink in th city.

  • The funny thing is . . . most people I know think that I'm crazy! WOOOOOooooyeah yeah yeah!! :)
