thrillamf you said it best. where did trent go wrong after pretty hate machine. the downward spiral had a few bangers on there but it was lacking some more good music it was a let down for me.
@royalnash forgive me for mentioning this band on the other video, but dude, fucking check out Over-Reactor. They're only a few months, but they're one of the most uniquely electrifying bands I've heard in the last ten years. They're releasing their first record August 9 FREE, and it's streaming on their website. They're one of those bands you feel lucky for stumbling upon.
@colonelsanta the left side is better, but the right side is very good as well! and actually the best couple songs might be on the right side! the whole fragile album was brilliant!
The only comparison you can make inbetween albums is how much you identify and who Trent was as a person during the period he recorded and wrote the songs.
Every song is an amazin masterpiece, only song I cant stand is Discipline.
After 1994, he got better and better the Fragile is a great fucking album and so is Year Zero he keeps geting better!!! all the albums are very good!!!

I listen this soud a long time ago but i didn't realised that the guitarist was as dumb at 3:00 as he didn't played his part and i think it's cool, in a way it really gives the music alive when Reznor music is a little messed up, he should always tour with some dumb band around!
I haven't listened to NIN for a few years now. Yesterday I put on The Fragile. Had to stop half way. I put on Broken instead. I forgot just how sick this band was in the early days. Nothing compares to the first 3 releases. Very hard to top that material.
@canesrule96 yeah, broken is my favorite nin album despite the shortness of it! but the nin era from 92-95 was the best easily! broken and the downward spiral are easily the best 2 nin albums, no question! pretty hate machine was good, but had some really weak songs, and the fragile was very good! the newer albums are decent, but nothing special!
I think PHM is the best album he's made. The only weak track IMO is The Only Time. The albums after PHM were good but lacked the constant melody of PHM. Even Reznor has said this.
Anyone else have that "On the Downward Spiral" dvd? It's immense. The first dvd though is shit where they just talk about The Downward Spiral cos they just say shit stuff.
I just love how they keep trying to get the synthesizer to work, after it's already been trashed, and has had water poured all over it. AWESOME! One of my favorite live performances...that I was sadly not at.

Godsmack is still around. theres still the big four. Five Finger Death Punch, Slipknot I suppose if you're into that stuff. Not sure if you like screamo, but try out Sonic Syndicate. On the industrial side, there's still Filter and Ministry. I'm sure I can dig up some more. Try the song "Have a drink on me by Pain." The Hurt is also a decent band. Tried to make this as diverse as possible because your list is as well haha.
@cellophane96 Worry not my friend, rock music is still alive and well. You just have to know where to find it. The best band I've ever seen live is Mastodon. Second best is Godsmack, and I've seen some bands. Number 3 and 4 are Korn and Sevendust. Trivium also put on a kickass show. Most of those bands (except Korn) came to prominence in the 2000's, and are still alive and kicking..
@cellophane96 agreed. it's up to the people who feel this way to bring it back. i'm working my fucking ass off to get shit like this and the power that nirvana had on people back. these guys were such a huge influence on so many different types of music.... its too bad kids only like music for what sounds like in there chest than what it stands for AND feels like in their chest.
We need another woodstock in a SERIOUSY bad way. It should be like how every Woodstock is. It's more than just a "festival" persay. We don't need overpricing, frustration and riots like at 99. We need the spirit of the 69 Woodstock. We need the togetherness and joy of the 94 Woodstock. It's our turn guys!
As of now, I'm very happy/pleased in regards to the current line up. Illan Rubin is an excellent drummer (so was Josh Freese) but Trent is still apparently kicking ass with this ideal last tour of his.
BTW, this performance gives me musical orgasms, i love the intro, and in woodstock with all the interviews and destroying the instruments, its just all crazy, i love it
waited...With Teeth started in 2005 ended in 2006. Him being sober now for a few years seems to get his writting faster.but I think NIN sound wise has somewhat changed since disbanding after the Fragility 2000...I didn't know Metallica played after NIN at Woodstock 94'... hard to follow a muddy loud entergetic Industrial Rock band who got a grammy for their performance. Does anyone agree with me...Chris is a good live drummer but Jerome kinda seemed to fit with his unique style.
i'm gonna start by saying my favorite band is nine inch nails, please dont shun me from this comment cuz you think i'm hating on NIN, i love them. metallica is an OK band but their just more commercial, and theyve been around longer and they attract a bigger fan base. You ask random people on the street about NIN, a couple of them would be able to name like 'Closer' or "the hand that feeds' like the biggest songs. whereas you ask them about metallica, theyd know more about them
i agree but NIN put on a more impressive show than metallica. T-Rez went in the crowd which is probably not the best idea, he acted at times where he showed his heroin addict side(look at the down in it performance at woodstock) he freaking did some weird thing where he fell and was doing something on his head
yeah trent is amazing, from the twisted creation of the dvd Broken, to his newer albums he really shows the diversity of the band nin. NIN def played one of the shows of their lifetime at woodstock 1994, but look at who they played with, metallica made history at that concert when they played through a lightning storm. they also had some serious competition with the band Live, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Green Day, and many more, musta been a lotta pressure

They're only a few months, but they're one of the most uniquely electrifying bands I've heard in the last ten years. They're releasing their first record August 9 FREE, and it's streaming on their website. They're one of those bands you feel lucky for stumbling upon.

The only comparison you can make inbetween albums is how much you identify and who Trent was as a person during the period he recorded and wrote the songs.

I listen this soud a long time ago but i didn't realised that the guitarist was as dumb at 3:00 as he didn't played his part and i think it's cool, in a way it really gives the music alive when Reznor music is a little messed up, he should always tour with some dumb band around!

I haven't listened to NIN for a few years now. Yesterday I put on The Fragile. Had to stop half way. I put on Broken instead. I forgot just how sick this band was in the early days. Nothing compares to the first 3 releases. Very hard to top that material.

@canesrule96 yeah, broken is my favorite nin album despite the shortness of it! but the nin era from 92-95 was the best easily! broken and the downward spiral are easily the best 2 nin albums, no question! pretty hate machine was good, but had some really weak songs, and the fragile was very good! the newer albums are decent, but nothing special!

I think PHM is the best album he's made. The only weak track IMO is The Only Time. The albums after PHM were good but lacked the constant melody of PHM. Even Reznor has said this.

Godsmack is still around. theres still the big four. Five Finger Death Punch, Slipknot I suppose if you're into that stuff. Not sure if you like screamo, but try out Sonic Syndicate. On the industrial side, there's still Filter and Ministry. I'm sure I can dig up some more. Try the song "Have a drink on me by Pain." The Hurt is also a decent band. Tried to make this as diverse as possible because your list is as well haha.

Second best is Godsmack, and I've seen some bands. Number 3 and 4 are Korn and Sevendust. Trivium also put on a kickass show. Most of those bands (except Korn) came to prominence in the 2000's, and are still alive and kicking..

waited...With Teeth started in 2005 ended in 2006. Him being sober now for a few years seems to get his writting faster.but I think NIN sound wise has somewhat changed since disbanding after the Fragility 2000...I didn't know Metallica played after NIN at Woodstock 94'... hard to follow a muddy loud entergetic Industrial Rock band who got a grammy for their performance. Does anyone agree with me...Chris is a good live drummer but Jerome kinda seemed to fit with his unique style.

yeah trent is amazing, from the twisted creation of the dvd Broken, to his newer albums he really shows the diversity of the band nin. NIN def played one of the shows of their lifetime at woodstock 1994, but look at who they played with, metallica made history at that concert when they played through a lightning storm. they also had some serious competition with the band Live, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Green Day, and many more, musta been a lotta pressure
